Ocado wants me back....

EinsteinaGogo · 27/07/2020 18:01

After playing hard to get and ghosting me for 4 months.

Well tough luck, Ocado. I'm now going out with Asda, who didn't drop me like a tonne of bricks when the shit hit the fan.

Yes, they may not have the good looks and the quirky personality, but they are reliable, dependable and delivered the goods when you couldn't and wouldn't.

Anyone else getting 'come back, I miss you messages'?*

*i may well be fickle and see two shops at a time!

YANBU. I’ve had a log in with Ocado for years but they wouldn’t let me even get onto the website. My parents, who previously had regular deliveries and were isolating due to being over 70 were told they didn’t qualify as vulnerable enough.

There’s an argument for not taking on more deliveries than you can handle so you don’t let people down, but to turn your back on customers for 4 months then expect them to come flocking back? They can bugger off.

I even got a tea towel on our first date....

See, and I thought that was just me. I thought I was SPECIAL

stretchedmarks · 27/07/2020 20:17

Never shopped with Ocado (don't have it where I live), but Asda were fantastic over lockdown. I was heavily pregnant but managed to get a click and collect slot for every week (even if it did take me two or three days to try and get one). Absolute lifesaver. It meant I didn't need to go around the shops, increasing my anxiety, while also trying to mind my one year old (partner was a key worker).

The subs were a bit naff sometimes, and the limit on coca cola for a while was deeply upsetting (I kid-, but I do drink tonnes of the stuff), but they were great.

And sometimes, Bojangles Truffle thingies.
Definitely loved me the most

I'm the same. If they start dishing out the "here's £20 off your shop" vouchers like they did to reel me in the first time, I might be tempted.

Turkeydrumstick · 27/07/2020 20:21

Me too! I thought I could trust them and nope, couldn’t even get onto their website. To be honest though it was the best thing that could have happened- I’ve found Barry the butcher who is just better on every level.

Mustbetimeforachange · 27/07/2020 20:23

Yes, Ocado ghosted me when I needed them (even said they couldn't find my account at one point), refused to understand that DH could be shielding but I was doing the shopping and also not leaving the house. No they text to tell me there are slots available. I emailed them, I tweeted them, all sorts to no avail. Tesco added us to the priority list without proof and I've had a weekly priority slot from them ever since. Mind you, their priority slots have gone up to £4.50, which I think is outrageous. For my slot mid August, I had a choice or an 8 hour priority slot for £4.50, or a one hour slot for... £4.50.

Mammamia2020 · 27/07/2020 20:23

I think I'm a complete Muppet. We still use them even though a few weeks into lockdown, one of their drivers refused to come up to the flat door, subsequently threatened to leave and take the order with him, then called my husband a prick when he went down to collect the shopping.
They never followed up on our complaint, and gave us a £7 voucher when I called them.
I do feel ripped off when I use them and try to alternate with a cheaper supermarket.

Are any of the others withdrawing carrier bags? Tesco and Asda seem to be and that's a no no for me. I can't be decanting stuff from the crates while my one year old cries for attention. (Why don't people just reuse the carrier bags as bin bags round the house, and actually cut down on plastic waste, instead of whining about them and then buying plastic bin bags?)

SummerPoppies · 27/07/2020 20:24

I thought it was just me who was bestowed with the gift of a tea towel.
I feel sullied 😭

SusieOwl4 · 27/07/2020 20:29

Tesco pushed me nearly to the point of break up , however they never totally deserted me , just kept me dangling and reduced contact 😭

But actually their drivers were great and told me that Tesco’s treated their shielding staff very well so they just about redeemed themselves although I am still using some local companies who kept us going as well .

Charleyhorses · 27/07/2020 20:30

It's bizarre. I hadn't shopped with them for at least a year and I got slots throughout. I have no idea why.
I've now donated these to my Mum in rural Somerset!

Colouringaddict · 27/07/2020 20:31

I was all dressed up and ready to go on a date with Asda, an hour after they should have been here, I checked my account and they had cancelled me, with no reason, no explanation, no apology, so they can consider themselves dumped. Was able to get a slot with Tesco under their priority scheme, but within 3 weeks of lockdown I was able to start a weekly date with Morrison’s, as long as I book in advance, but I have to confess I have cheated with Iceland as they will deliver either the following day or the day after, so I’ll keep both dangling and use them as I need to

zonkin · 27/07/2020 20:37

Ocado have let me have a weekly slot since the lockdown started. And now I can get more slots per week, so pretty much the same as pre covid.

I've been a loyal customer over the years and spend lots with them. And it does beat standing in the socially distanced queue at Tesco, etc. It has made me plan a bit more though. I used to have 2-3 deliveries a week and the once a week thing has enlightened me to the fact that we don't actually need that much food.

MrsSteveMcDonald · 27/07/2020 20:39

Sainsbury's have been really good to me. Only 1 week where I couldn't get a delivery throughout all this and we aren't on the vulnerable list

mcmooberry · 27/07/2020 20:42

I won't leave them in the same way I won't leave Vodafone even when I ring them up to request my PAC code. I like the Ocado Gold potatoes and those little French frozen rolls too much. I was absolutely fuming with them at the beginning of lockdown however, this thread is reminding me of that.

123456abcd · 27/07/2020 20:43

Have never used Ocado, tried to sign up during lockdown.....ha, ha.....no chance. Just received an email offering Ocado delivery, shocked to discover they charge £6.99 for delivery! No thanks, I'll use Waitrose (free for £60 plus order).

Haffiana · 27/07/2020 20:44

Another of these petty, idiotic, vicious threads about Ocado.

FFS, just fuck off and buy your food somewhere else.

Mimilamore · 27/07/2020 20:48

Ditto, Asda came through when Ocado were nowhere to be seen, I am continuing to use them.

It’s not just me then 😂 Ocado can get to fck! Want us back now do they? Ha!!!

alreadytaken · 27/07/2020 20:58

Morrisons let me have a delivery slot after I had a birthday and after the first charge they even delivered free. Ocado didnt even offer to reinstate the part of the pass they wouldnt let me use. Despite being politely told I have moved on they are stalking me. And I never got Jesus (stamps feet and tosses hair).

alreadytaken · 27/07/2020 21:06

btw it wasnt my 70th birthday - not a significant one at all.

BigKnickers87 · 27/07/2020 21:07

Yessss! They can fuck right off! (Unless they offer me some more big voucher discounts 🤞🏻🤣)

Dryadia · 27/07/2020 21:07

I had it the other way round, use to alternate Ocado and Tesco before lockdown. Always spent minimum amount at Ocado and double that at Tesco, but then couldn't get anything from Tesco throughout even though we were in the isolating group.

Ocado have been fine from day one and have introduced new ranges, loving the new frozen organic fruit packs. Very, very few subs. Although they did keep running out of some frozen organic fruit and veg. What is it with spinach & peas?

If it wasn't for the organic ribeye steak at Tesco I'd probably not bother now. I'm also hoping Tesco bring back their organic mayonnaise as it was the best/cheapest I've found. Would use them once a month then :)

On the other hand my parents, who are also in the isolating group and had never used Tesco online were invited to start during the lockdown. They are now converts after years of family trying to get them to try online groceries.

Even stranger they were the other way round, main shop used to be Sainsbury and although they haven't been able to get anything online from them throughout this, intend to switch back as soon as they can.
