Ocado wants me back....

EinsteinaGogo · 27/07/2020 18:01

After playing hard to get and ghosting me for 4 months.

Well tough luck, Ocado. I'm now going out with Asda, who didn't drop me like a tonne of bricks when the shit hit the fan.

Yes, they may not have the good looks and the quirky personality, but they are reliable, dependable and delivered the goods when you couldn't and wouldn't.

Anyone else getting 'come back, I miss you messages'?*

*i may well be fickle and see two shops at a time!

I've had a similar experience, but with Morrisons rather than Ocado.

I was on the shielded list but couldn't get a delivery slot with Morrisons for love nor money and although my basket has been full since the end of March I've been unable to get a delivery so I gave up.
I tried at all times of the day and night, I emailed and phoned too, but they were no help whatsoever.

I could only get a slot with Asda and they've been a Godsend for me. Very few substitutions, always able to get a slot and good stock. Very helpful customer service too.

I've been really disappointed with Morrisons as I was a pretty loyal customer before this, although I tended to shop mainly in their stores, with only the once evry 6-8 week online shop with them.

Now I go to Asda, as even Morrisons stores have been a nightmare during lockdown....no stock and massive queues.

Pft, you lot with your Ocado tea towels. They gave me a wipe clean, magnetic meal planner thing. Means I can doodle penises on my fridge when I'm bored.

Also, one Christmas many years ago I got a free bottle of wine and some mince pies. I'd take those again over any Ocado branded merch.

WhoKnew19 · 28/07/2020 10:03

Nor me, reading all these comments though, it seems we have been lucky (or as my husband says, have always spent far, far too much money with them Blush)

Charleyhorses · 28/07/2020 10:24

Having donated my Ocado account to my Mum (and signed her up for a delivery pass) I'm off to try Tesco click and collect for the first time. Slot for pick up is 12-2. What's the best time to go? I guess not at 12.....

Charleyhorses · 28/07/2020 10:26

Twitches at repeated mention of asda. Like their prices hate going there!

Sailingblue · 28/07/2020 10:42

We struggled with Waitrose and Ocado but got slots with Tesco and Sainsbury’s. My parents found Sainsbury’s and Tesco were the best for them as new online shoppers over 70 but even then, they were on at midnight to get slots. They couldn’t get anything with Waitrose.

Saucery · 28/07/2020 10:44

Sainsbury’s shut me out then changed the locks so we’re so over. Waitrose have been kind and considerate and they treat other customers well too, so I’m Shopmonogamous now.

Onmyown1 · 28/07/2020 10:52

I’ve divorced Morrison’s. Shielding, had delivery pass, used them for years. I emailed and phoned but nothing. Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Asda offered me slots. Used to use Asda years ago but stopped due to silly substitutes so went with Sainsbury’s. I’m staying with Sainsbury’s now.

FrenchBoule · 28/07/2020 10:57

@copperoliver. I think it’s up to location and what resources all supermarkets had. Looks like swings and roundabouts.

ShivD · 28/07/2020 11:00

I managed to get a slot every week of lockdown but no free gift!!!

I think the slots were dependent on what hub your deliveries were coming from and some didn’t have the same availability to others.

alwaysraining123 · 28/07/2020 11:06

Tesco has been amazing through lockdown cancelling our monthly charge for the delivery saver pass and providing one slot a week. Sainsbury's on the other hand cancelled our delivery without telling us and refused to redeliver! Companies that have treated their customers well I believe will do well out of COVID and other companies will pay the price. For example, a holiday company who refused to refund us despite not being able to offer the service (we claimed the money back from our credit card).

iamMadameX · 28/07/2020 11:08

I've been getting texts and emails but not used Ocado for about 2 years, I can't afford them used to shop for my mum.

Guess there getting desperate and contacting any customers.

I've been using Morrison's since and they have been great, easy to slot apart from at the beginning. Hardly any subs, just disappointed about 3 weeks they switched to delivery from local store. They turn up in plain white vans and no longer tell you who the driver is I miss Kevin is driving the Apple van emails,

HaudMaDug · 28/07/2020 11:38

Both Tesco and Asda have stood me up (much like my lovelife) so I'm renewing my vows with Sainsburys now that their delivery slots are available again.

walchesterweasel · 28/07/2020 11:42

I got the Ocado email too, telling me I was recognised as a priority and I could get a delivery slot - in September !

KatherineJaneway · 28/07/2020 12:06

@Sertchgi123

Yes getting emails from them saying I am now a priority shopper! They really cocked up earlier, letting down their loyal fan base.
Me too. Bit late now, I'm dating someone else Grin
tiredanddangerous · 28/07/2020 12:26

I'm going steady with tesco. There were two occasions where we didn't see each other for ten days, but aside from that we've had a regular date every seven days since lockdown began. They even stopped charging me for my delivery pass for a few months.

I've had a few one night stands and short flings in the past with the likes of Ocado and Sainsburys, even asda once which was a big mistake but me and Tesco are in it for the long haul.

tiredanddangerous · 28/07/2020 12:27

Oh and I've also been getting texts and emails from Ocado despite having not used them for a good 5 years, so maybe they've pissed a lot of people off!

Housewife2010 · 28/07/2020 12:32

I've managed to keep my weekly Ocado slots during the pandemic due to having a delivery pass. I'm pleased that Ocado rewarded their loyal customers with regular slots and will continue shopping with them.

Minai · 28/07/2020 13:00

Haha yes, I’m not the only one feeling like this! Now getting emails saying I have priority access when at the beginning of lockdown they wouldn’t even let me log in to the site. Sticking with Asda, Morrison’s and Tesco’s who actually let me shop with them!

SummerPoppies · 28/07/2020 13:23

@Housewife2010 I was a loyal customer for a few years. I used to place a huge order once per month.
Once the lockdown began I was ditched. I couldn't even log onto the site!
Along with many others here.

SummerPoppies · 28/07/2020 13:24

Come to think of it, shouldn't Jesus be doing his deliveries in a fish or bread van, rather than a cabbage?

Lougle · 28/07/2020 13:29

I'm a Tesco girl now. Rarely a substitution and when they delivered my groceries yesterday, they warned me that my sausages were 'short date' - they had 4 days before the use by! That's plenty of time. They even put short date and substitution items in different bags so that you can easily identify them.

Housewife2010 · 28/07/2020 13:31

SummerPoppies
If you'd had a delivery pass you would have kept your weekly deliveries.

Sertchgi123 · 28/07/2020 13:47

Just had another text from Ocado:

Dear Mrs Sertchgi

there are new slots available on the site.

Love Ocado

Dream on

SummerPoppies · 28/07/2020 13:53

@Housewife2010 I DO have a delivery pass!
For what use it was, as do many others who couldn't get a delivery.
