Ocado wants me back....

EinsteinaGogo · 27/07/2020 18:01

After playing hard to get and ghosting me for 4 months.

Well tough luck, Ocado. I'm now going out with Asda, who didn't drop me like a tonne of bricks when the shit hit the fan.

Yes, they may not have the good looks and the quirky personality, but they are reliable, dependable and delivered the goods when you couldn't and wouldn't.

Anyone else getting 'come back, I miss you messages'?*

*i may well be fickle and see two shops at a time!

Yeah they emailed me too, too little too late Ocado!

Yiayoula · 27/07/2020 19:50

It’s weird how our experiences differ - wonder if it’s a regional thing ?
Long - term customer of Morrisons but couldn’t get a delivery slot for love nor money when lockdown began. Finally got into Click and Collect from Tesco , and now signed up for a Delivery Saver plan with them. Great customer service , very few substitutions, good experience all round.

FaceOfASpink · 27/07/2020 19:50

It's been over an hour now. Back and forth, round the houses. First Three says this and then Three says that. I just don't know what to believe any more.

There's certainly something weird going on. Deflection and gaslighting like crazy atm. Keeping me waiting. Blowing hot and cold. I mean, who needs this shit.

EinsteinaGogo · 27/07/2020 19:53

@FaceOfASpink

I sympathise OP. Three are playing fast and loose with my affections as we speak. We've been in a relationship for a couple of years now but it's kind of run its course. I want to stay for the sake of the number but I feel that if they won't do what they promised and make it so difficult for us to talk about how our relationship needs to change, I'l just going to have to LTB.

Ah, @FaceOfASpink - you need to wake up and smell the (Colombian hand picked) coffee.

If they're treating you this badly now, when they should be wooing you, how will they be when you really need them?

JollyGiraffe12 · 27/07/2020 19:54

Totally agree! Sainsbury’s all the way for me now

Happynow001 · 27/07/2020 19:55

I'm so sorry you and your family have had such a tough time @iwantmyownicecreamvan Made even harder by suppliers who very much didn't go the extra mile. How angry and sad you must have been.

I suspect they will live to regret their lack of organisation and heart in the future as people vote with their wallets. I was very lucky, after a couple of frantic weeks (during which my mum got charity food boxes to add to the stuff I'd prepped for her, and her neighbours were so kind and bought food for her too). Then I managed to speak to someone on Sainsbury's priority line who redirected my account to my mother's address so she could get regular deliveries of the foods that she liked.

Fortunately I managed to get Waitrose deliveries for myself (I'm in one of the vulnerable groups as is my mother, though not shielding), setting my alarm for very early morning to get a slot and pinging my early waking friends and family when slots were available. 🌹

billybear · 27/07/2020 19:55

yes me as well well we needed you in march/april and may no luck so sod off, they are emailing/texting me every day idnore them,im staying with asda and tesco

ohrien · 27/07/2020 19:56

I’ve had the odd shag with Waitrose but I found all the stuff I’d heard about the experience from others to be very overrated.

I much prefer the rough and gruff of Heron Foods...mmmm.

Crumpets111 · 27/07/2020 19:57

Yes I got a message even thou I'm still shielding and should of been given priority slots but ignored by them.

FaceOfASpink · 27/07/2020 19:58

I know Einstein. I think Three know they've had my best years though - living high on the hog there with all the shiny and new. Now I'm looking to dial things back, Three just can't be bothered really - they're seduced by the thrill of the newcomer.
Whatever happened to 'for richer, for poorer???
It's not ME who's the fickle one here!
Sad Sad Sad

nevermorelenore · 27/07/2020 19:59

Ocado should have been the best placed to deal with the demand, being online only. Shame to hear they were so shit. I only use them once every few months when they send me a voucher, as it's usually 20% off or so.

Sainsburys seemed to do best in my area. Perhaps because fewer people know about their delivery service. Had a couple of deliveries and there were always loads of click and collect slots at off peak times.

Della12 · 27/07/2020 19:59

Yes!! We moved to France recently and I'm still getting them even tho we've deregistered!

2020meh · 27/07/2020 20:00

Sainsburys have plenty of delivery slots but until they let me buy another annual pass (which represents a big saving for me) I won't be paying for weekly delivery as it's too expensive.

They cocked up the renewal of my pass which fell due for renewal at the height of the pandemic when I was shopping for 3 families (2 of them in the 70+ age bracket) via one weekly delivery and "weren't allowed to issue any more passes at this time" so I switched to Tesco who also wouldn't let me buy a delivery pass but at least their delivery charges were lower.

I now alternate between the 2 although I'm also flirting with Morrisons as they have huge store with a good range near me.

cannotmakemymindup · 27/07/2020 20:01

Yes Ocado have been trying to woo me back but Tesco click and collect has been excellent especially the further I have got into this pregnancy. Ocado even texting me to I gave up when basics weren't available for ages. Plus you can tell their packing is done by a robot as only a robot would think to put chocolate bars and cleaning items together. I much prefer whoever packs my Tesco order and it's done with items grouped together sensibly.

Didkdt · 27/07/2020 20:02

I was a loyal ocado customer for years 1-2 deliveries a month.
I was shielded desperately trying to get food without going out.
When Ocado eventually got back to me I was basically told there were too many shielded customers in my area and I hadn't been loyal enough to get a priority slot as they also had to reserve slots for regular customers.
I spent £5000 with them last year. I'd had a few deliveries pre lockdown.
They won't see me again
Tesco were amazing and then Asda dropped me a line to say I could have free priority slots if needed
Ocado didn't need to give me a slot I don't need to respond to their saccharine emails now

TrickorTreacle · 27/07/2020 20:02

I was on the Jeremy Kyle show with Tesco and Asda last week.

I had a relationship with Tesco for nearly 15 years. Online deliveries most weeks with Delivery Saver. Despite being in the vulnerable group, Tesco dumped me because they said that I wasn't on the official gov't 'list'.

Asda, however, despite me having not used them before covid, they gave me a slot EVERY week since late March.

Tesco tried to make a pass at me again, and when I declined, Tesco took Asda and myself onto the Jeremy Kyle show. When I explained that Asda have handled covid a lot better than Tesco did, Kyle ruled in my favour. Then a brawl exploded onto the stage between Tesco and Asda and the security crew had to turf Tesco from the TV studio.

You can see it on TV in a couple of weeks time :-)

AlternativePerspective · 27/07/2020 20:04

I also need to give an honourable mention to the Sainsbury's Chop Chop app - a basketful of groceries delivered within 90 minutes, and within one memorable occasion, within 35 minutes. Even better than Amazon Prime Now! unfortunately though that app is very area specific and doesn’t deliver in the majority of the UK.

TBH, I do think one of the issues with deliveries is that a lot of people booked multiple slots at a time. Personally I don’t agree with that, if you’re booking two/three/four slots ahead then there are two/three people who won’t get a slot. That goes for all the supermarkets...

I would have loved to shop from a butcher etc who delivered but I couldn’t find one for love nor money that didn’t either cost the earth or deliver a hundredweight of meat in every pack....

If I could have got a week’s meat that would have been fab, but it wasn’t meant to be.

Alwaysinpain · 27/07/2020 20:05

@EinsteinaGogo
You genuinely thought you'd be the only former customer in the country to whom they were begging to come back?! HmmGrin

adagio · 27/07/2020 20:06

@AlternativePerspective
App is back online this week Grin

I am ashamed to admit I was a lucky one (Or possibly just in the right area of the uk) and they carried on delivering to me right through lockdown chaos. I am very grateful.

I do think prices seem to have crept up, but I’m not yet annoyed enough with it enough to start dating anyone else yet... time will tell how long my patience lasts once they replace Waitrose.

SunbathingDragon · 27/07/2020 20:07

YANBU and Ocado isn’t getting my custom again despite the influx of emails and texts.

SummerPoppies · 27/07/2020 20:08

I will look forward to watching that @TrickorTreacle I will crack open a can of value lager specially for it.

bubblebubblebubbletrouble · 27/07/2020 20:11

Me too - complete convert to sainsburys click & collect now.
Did check for delivery today but they wanted £6.
Thanks but no thanks Ocado.

DimplesToadfoot · 27/07/2020 20:11

Tesco was the only place I could get deliveries with during lockdown, Every week there was something wrong with my order, for e.g. 12 eggs loose in a carrier bag, obviously all broken, which was fine with Tesco as they had delivered 12 eggs.

The last argument I had with them was when they substituted a cheaper item I had ordered for a more expensive one, I told the driver I'd never use it, so he took it back, Tesco have refused to refund me, I asked for the item, they've refused to let me have it, so I spent £14 on something that should have cost me £6 but I've nothing to show for it. I'm not stupid enough to let that happen again so I won't be shopping with Tesco again.

Iceland have emailed a few times asking if they have done something wrong and offering me a delivery slot, shame they couldn't let me have one when I needed one.

I have no loyalty to any of them, I'm in limbo land

We had such a beautiful relationship... I can't believe they dropped me, they said I was special.

I even got a tea towel on our first date....

Tesco have been outstanding as is their customer service who ensured I had priority slots when needed. So impressed and grateful to them for it. Thank you!
