Ocado wants me back....

EinsteinaGogo · 27/07/2020 18:01

After playing hard to get and ghosting me for 4 months.

Well tough luck, Ocado. I'm now going out with Asda, who didn't drop me like a tonne of bricks when the shit hit the fan.

Yes, they may not have the good looks and the quirky personality, but they are reliable, dependable and delivered the goods when you couldn't and wouldn't.

Anyone else getting 'come back, I miss you messages'?*

*i may well be fickle and see two shops at a time!

Yes, that's what I can't figure out - they closed off to new customers pretty promptly and then only gave slots to some vulnerable customers and some of their highest spending regular customers. Those of us who've flirted a bit or were monogamous but deemed unworthy were dumped. So why do they want us back now? I can only guess that like all the others, they've increased their capacity (last to the party on that one) and now have more space?

RibenaMonsoon · 29/07/2020 07:23

I had none of that with Iceland. But then I didn't really try to get my usual deliveries as I wanted to have my slot go to someone that needed it more than me.
Iceland messaged me constantly (give or take a week or two during lockdown) saying I was a VIP and as such, could have a reserved slot every week. I didn't spend tons of money with them but I did always get my weekly shopping delivered with them as I was without a car and I love their selection of fresh stuff. So dont really know how I managed VIP status.

I'm back to using them now as deliveries always seem to be available with them including up to the day before. If anyone hasn't tried their cheese coleslaw I demand you all go over to your nearest iceland and get some. Best shop bought coleslaw ever!

ClickandForget · 29/07/2020 08:04

I've managed to keep my weekly Ocado slots during the pandemic due to having a delivery pass

I've had a delivery pass for years but they still wouldn't let me in.
Haven't had a delivery since beginning of March.

Nacknick · 29/07/2020 08:16

They didn't even given the slots to vulnerable people - I am on the shielded list but Ocado told me I hadn't shopped with them enough to qualify!!
Meanwhile Sainsbury's have been delivering weekly and now Ocado want me back.... well sod 'em I say 😂

ElBandito · 29/07/2020 08:57

I think all the supermarkets will be panicking now because of the news that Amazon are starting to deliver groceries for free.

Happynow001 · 29/07/2020 09:19

Really how foolish (financially and PR-wise) for Ocado to have ticked off their customers by their commercially poorly considered and morally unkind behaviour. This will have, and will continue to, cost them so much in goodwill and £££ they'll never get back. More fool they. The supermarkets which stepped up will benefit now.

AlternativePerspective · 29/07/2020 10:34

And apparently their app, which has been opened up to a select few only (I wasn’t one of them) has already been taken offline again.

Sadly Iceland’s website is woefully inaccessible with a screen reader so I haven’t been able to use them. A friend did though and on every occasion there were problems, half an order missing, driver simply not turning up etc.

It very much does seem like Swings and roundabouts with the majority of the supermarkets but ocado have by far been the worst. And given they’re always online only that does not say anything positive about them.

KatherineJaneway · 29/07/2020 10:54

Ocado flip flopped from one strategy to another. Really poor management.

Therollockingrogue · 29/07/2020 11:01

Same . Fuck off ocado. You weren’t there in my hour of need , and now you come crawling back.

auntieElle · 29/07/2020 11:04

@DrinkFeckArseGirls

So who’s been getting those slots with Ocado as it seems thise shielding and vulnerable didn’t!

walchesterweasel September?!

@Housewife2010 for one!
Sportycustard · 29/07/2020 12:36

I've abandoned Sainsbury's. Have done 50 shops a year with them for over ten years. Locked me out of the app at the start of lockdown and even now I can only book one week ahead. I quit my delivery pass in April as I literally couldn't even log in. To add insult to injury they have now sent me a voucher for the unused portion of my delivery pass - which I can't use as I'm no longer a delivery pass customer! The last week they emailed out to say they were accepting new customers again. F*ck that. Tesco click and collect has been just fine through lockdown so I'm staying with them.

fortmums · 29/07/2020 12:41

In my hour week Spring of need, Ocado and Sainsbury's and Boots just reported absent. The worse was getting long juicy emails from their CEOs bleating on about something and their priorities. But no deliveries.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 29/07/2020 13:03

@pepperycinnamon We got a full set of the Ocado lorries which then toddler Dd loved playing with. You can stick your tea towel

I've seen news stories recently about how well Ocado did financially out of the lockdown. Their financial fortunes may well have be reversed when the customers they did serve don't need as many deliveries any more but their custom isn't replaced because they've naffed off so many people.

KatherineJaneway · 29/07/2020 13:42

They might see a dip when they start selling M&S goods Bright

hoxtonbabe · 29/07/2020 13:47

@Nacknick

This is exactly what they did to me, was on the shield list,already had an account with them but because I didn’t use them regularly ( I didn't use any of them regularly before the lockdown) they said I did not qualify for their service..

Well ocado can piss off. Tesco and Sainsbury’s have been my saviour so I will remain loyal to them.

@BrightYellowDaffodil

Exactly . People are steadily going back to in store shopping which is why they are now wanting customers that they happily dismissed, back! Cheeky sods

Nacknick · 29/07/2020 14:20

Yep, exactly the same for me @hoxtonbabe. I was so cross at the time, but now signed up with Sainsbury's and Waitrose and won't go back to Ocado
