Ocado wants me back....

EinsteinaGogo · 27/07/2020 18:01

After playing hard to get and ghosting me for 4 months.

Well tough luck, Ocado. I'm now going out with Asda, who didn't drop me like a tonne of bricks when the shit hit the fan.

Yes, they may not have the good looks and the quirky personality, but they are reliable, dependable and delivered the goods when you couldn't and wouldn't.

Anyone else getting 'come back, I miss you messages'?*

*i may well be fickle and see two shops at a time!

Yes, they've been emailing and texting me too.

In hindsight, I think they handled the situation really poorly. I didn’t expect anything as I had signed up before the pandemic due to a great offer but heard from lots of people who were regular, long term shoppers with them that they were left out in the cold.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 27/07/2020 19:00

@DontTouchTheMoustache

This thread has made me realise my relationship with morrisons has been more stable and committed than any relationship so far in my 30s 😳 At least until I find a boyfriend I can reliably get my booze brought to my door.
Frankly, I think you've found their new advertising campaign.

Same ambience as the female runner Nike ad in What Women Want if you recall that film. Apart from the booze.

twoshedsjackson · 27/07/2020 19:00

I had milk delivered already, so I guess a "slot by default" but had never seriously looked at what else I could get from Milk & More, until lockdown came along. Dairy products like eggs and butter didn't surprise, but the household cleaning and gardening stuff was more unexpected..... but now I've become a regular No actual time slot - just get the stuff off the doorstep early in the morning!

Punkatheart · 27/07/2020 19:01

I am OKish, thank you EinsteinaGogo - going through immunotherapy. Tescos were very good and I had never really liked them before. That's appalling, ekidmxcl - how heartless.

AlternativePerspective · 27/07/2020 19:03

There used to be someone from ocado who would come on to these threads, wonder if they’re still here.. ocadoAnnie or something I think they were called.

Either way, I think the fact that their service is so awful at the moment is something which should be highlighted on here since they are so widely used by MN’ers, so bad reviews from here could make them sit up and take notice.

Staplemaple · 27/07/2020 19:03

Loads of delivery slots here with them too for tomorrow and the rest of the week. Not surprised with a £6.99 delivery fee!

DontTouchTheMoustache · 27/07/2020 19:04

@EmbarrassingAdmissions perfect tagline to go with the campaign as well "At least Morrisons have never given me the clap"

Madcats · 27/07/2020 19:04

TBF Ocado is tiny compared to the terrestrial supermarkets so I can understand that they might have struggled when all their customers who used them once or twice a month suddenly wanted weekly slots (buying for others too).

I think we had 4 or 5 deliveries since March. They keep texting me, but they seem to have far fewer slots than they did a month ago. All late at night at £6.99.

Luckily we found a great local wholesaler and butcher that can deliver (usually) the following day.

I reckon I'll be walking to Waitrose or the corner shop (with an occasional trip in the car to buy heavy stuff like booze and washing powder at Aldi).

Oh well.

silentpool · 27/07/2020 19:05

I struggled to get a delivery during lockdown so wasn't faithful to any of them. But Waitrose has slots available more reliably now, doesn't do many substitutions and free delivery. So back to my favourite 😀

MintyMabel · 27/07/2020 19:08

I dumped Ocado for Tesco when they cancelled my delivery pass including the order I had already placed.

I was two timing Tesco with Asda for a while, but whilst they were great for a quickie at short notice, they just couldn’t fulfil my needs, never quite had what I wanted. Tesco are my one and only now.

CourtneyLurve · 27/07/2020 19:08

Sorry O, Amazon Prime Now and Sainsburys are my boos now.

AlternativePerspective · 27/07/2020 19:09

I use a screen reader and I find Waitrose app not very accessible. Ocado one was but they’ve taken it offline now and their website is crap if you’re using a screen reader.

Tend to use Tesco and sainsburys now and will likely continue to do so.

I spoke to their customer service department yesterday to query re the app as it makes it difficult for customers with a visual impairment and she said that A, they’re not sure whether they’re going to be bringing the app back online, it went down and no effort has been made to fix it, and B, they have had hundreds of complaints about all aspects of their service.

I wonder whether, given M&S have been doing quite well from Deliveroo, whether they might just expand on there to include their main stores and ditch ocado.

Saranvenya · 27/07/2020 19:10

I thought I was special, clearly not...
Sainsburys have been bloody amazing and I was an occasional shopper with them. Now they are my one and only!

netflixismysidehustle · 27/07/2020 19:11

I was impressed when Tesco waived Delivery Saver feed from mid March to June and delivery saver people got free delivery on any order that they could get.

Things were a mess in March and April so I tried looking at the other sites with no luck. I had previously tried Morrison's, Asda and Ocado but they all couldn't offer slots.

It's very easy to get slots here now and all of them have begged for my business. I'll be sticking to Tesco as they did better than I expected with top ups from elsewhere.

FindingNeverland1 · 27/07/2020 19:15

Ocado gave no shits about me (or my unwell parents, kids and newborn) a couple of months ago. They dropped me like a brick.
I resorted to the only one who'd have me. Iceland!! And a local vegetable box delivery. No regrets. I'm not going back anytime soon. I've saved a lot of ££ and received accurate deliveries and friendly service.

Jog on, Ocado.

Bemorechicken · 27/07/2020 19:17

Ocado wouldn't let me book a slot despite not being able to go out (on steriods) etc for 18 weeks and having booked with them a number of times but told me I wasn't loyal enough before the pandemic to get a sloy, but Tesco would. Ocado emails me twice a week now -I've blocked them -for a family that spends £400 + a month minimum -my business has gone elsewhere.

curlymom · 27/07/2020 19:17

Well over lockdown I was on the vulnerable list and sainsburys and iceland gave me priority slots. So they were good. Ocado...well I was i their virtual queue for four months so I officially lost interest

Nat6999 · 27/07/2020 19:17

I've done an Ocado order after getting a text message at the weekend, but I've only ordered things that I can't get from Morrison's instead of spending over £200, I've only spent £80. I won't ever order meat from Ocado, Morrison's is unbeatable for meat.

NK346f2849X127d8bca260 · 27/07/2020 19:22

I wonder if it varies by area, i managed to get slots during lockdown but only fortnightly , fortunately one came the day before we had to self isolate after DS came down with Covid. It was a long awit to the next one as we had no one to get our shopping.

ClickandForget · 27/07/2020 19:25

Same story here. I've been a regular customer for years then suddenly they wouldn't let me on their site at all. Spent hours in virtual queues.
Now they're emailing and texting daily with all their available slots. No thanks. Not at 6.99 a go mate. Sainsbury's click and collect was my hero.

sunflowerstory · 27/07/2020 19:25

Ocado are DEAD TO ME.

Wish I could direct them to a smug holding page that tells them how in demand I am with all the other online shops and how they're not a priority to me.

Cherylina · 27/07/2020 19:30

Same here - Ocado have lost me as a customer even though we had spent fortunes in the past and DH was shielding.

Asda and Sainsbury's stepped up and have gained customer loyalty going forwards!

GameSetMatch · 27/07/2020 19:30

Yes same as you, I’ve actually found Asda ok and I was a massive Supermarket snob!

MrsSprinkes · 27/07/2020 19:30

My MIL has had a weekly Ocado shop all through lockdown, she does spend £450+ every time (No idea what on!) as they say money talks!

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 27/07/2020 19:31

The thing is that Ocado is the one place that should have got it right. Because they were already an online supermarket. So nothing had changed except that suddenly everyone wanted them. Not exactly the worse thing that could happen to a business!

All the other supermarkets suddenly had to change their business model completely and yet somehow seemed to do a better job.

All Ocado had to do was email every current customer and say “in the last 3 months you have received X orders. Therefore we are able to provide you with an order every 90/X days. Please log onto www.ocadobestcustomers.co.uk to book your slots.

They could then recruit extra drivers and offer these to the vulnerable.
