Ocado wants me back....

EinsteinaGogo · 27/07/2020 18:01

After playing hard to get and ghosting me for 4 months.

Well tough luck, Ocado. I'm now going out with Asda, who didn't drop me like a tonne of bricks when the shit hit the fan.

Yes, they may not have the good looks and the quirky personality, but they are reliable, dependable and delivered the goods when you couldn't and wouldn't.

Anyone else getting 'come back, I miss you messages'?*

*i may well be fickle and see two shops at a time!

I also need to give an honourable mention to the Sainsbury's Chop Chop app - a basketful of groceries delivered within 90 minutes, and within one memorable occasion, within 35 minutes. Even better than Amazon Prime Now!

Emmmie · 27/07/2020 19:32

Same here. I guess I am still holding a grudge for all the virtual queues they have placed me in. I am never going back to Ocado, but I do enjoy the texts and emails they’ve been sending me asking me to return.

P.S. Ocado have made me redundant at some point, so I am also avenging myself in a way (while fully realising it won’t make a bit of difference to them😆😆😆) But as Tesco says, every little helps!

SummerPoppies · 27/07/2020 19:32

I've been a smart pass ocado customer for around five years and I used to get one big delivery each month.
Then during the pandemic, they ditched me for another customer.
Fortunately I was having an affair with Morrisons who continued to faithfully deliver my shopping.
Now ocado are sending me emails declaring undying love.
Well sorry Jesus in the cabbage van but you decided another customer was more important during my hour of need so it's not gonna happen.
Morrisons tends my needs perfectly well so it's farewell from me ocado.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 27/07/2020 19:33

I haven’t had a problem all through lockdown with Ocado so not swapping now...

FuzzyPuffling · 27/07/2020 19:34

I have been getting "we miss you" emails from Ocado for the past five years since I moved house. I keep pointing out that they don't actually offer a delivery service round here, but they aren't listening to me.

passthemustard · 27/07/2020 19:34

I had to dump Ocado too. Been with them for years and years but over lockdown they changed. They were always too busy for me and starting prioritising other people over me. But was still happy to take my money every month. It was so one sided. Once I stopped paying they told me I'd regret it, you know the usual, no one else can do you like I do kind of thing but to be honest I'm not committing to anyone anymore, totally playing the field. I've had a date with Tesco and Sainsbury's and Iceland and I started shopping in M&S a bit too (and it felt gooood!)

PinkyBrain · 27/07/2020 19:35

Same. They can go and whistle, I’m playing it cool now... Grin

Aridane · 27/07/2020 19:37

Ocado have been bloody brilliant with my mother - contacting her very early on to say they had identified her as vulnerable and offering her priority slots. With their drivers doing what they could to help, even though not permitted to come into the home and put her shopping away

Babysharkdoodoodood · 27/07/2020 19:38

I was a customer since my kids were little ( both in 20's now). I was/am on the extreme shielding list. They told me I wasn't a high enough spender. (£100/week).

Morrisons have given me a slot every single week, AND kept offers going. I've had 2 begging texts and an email. Ocado can swivel. Angry

ImAncient · 27/07/2020 19:39

Same here. Bye bye Ocado. They were so rude when I asked for help as a disabled person. I’m sticking with Tesco who were brilliant. Waitrose were pretty good too.

Aragog · 27/07/2020 19:40

I had very little issues with Ocado and managed to get at least one slot every 7-10 days right from March, quickly becoming more regularly and frequent.

I didn't notice any individual price changes anymore than anywhere else, but did notice a rise in my bill as there were far less offers to be had.

pepperycinnamon · 27/07/2020 19:41

@CourtneyLurve

Sorry O, Amazon Prime Now and Sainsburys are my boos now.
I've been using that as well but it's Morrisons round here.
iwantmyownicecreamvan · 27/07/2020 19:41

My mum had so much hassle with Ocado in March and April, while I had no issues with Asda apart from more subs than usual (but still sensible ones). She was literally losing sleep over it! (Higher risk but not vulnerable enough to be told to shield, and no car)

My my mum had the same problem - and I was with Asda. It really soured her last few weeks (she died mid-April from Covid, despite not being on the vulnerable list although she was 87). She tried to explain how she and Dad (who died a month later) were vulnerable although they didn't have those letters, but could never get through to anyone. Any mention of Ocado still annoys me - and probably always will.

I had nowhere near the same number of problems with Asda.

Jaxhog · 27/07/2020 19:41

I was rescued by Sainsbury, despite some initial problems, so feel a little guilty about flirting with Waitrose now. I'm also finding that Waitrose isn't the service I remember, even though they sell things I miss.

EinsteinaGogo · 27/07/2020 19:41

@squidpid

I went crawling back to Ocado after I decided asda was shit as I kept getting loads of subs

Just keep your options open and make sure any arrangements are on your terms,, @squidpid -

once they've done the dirty, they'll do it again

I was shielding and a 10 year Ocado customer. I got a slot and decided to do an experiment: I ordered a ton of wine in addition to the food, spending a silly amount. “Surprisingly” it worked...

Quarantimespringclean · 27/07/2020 19:43

Tesco's ditched me after 20 years online shopping. Three times they stood me up and failed to deliver prebooked shops with just a couple of hours notice. I’m a Waitrose girl now.

rc22 · 27/07/2020 19:44

I started a new online relationship with Mr Asda during lockdown having not really done online supermarket shopping. They've been brilliant delivering to both us and my elderly parents. Had a short flirtation with Mr Tesco but the driver's didn't seem to do so well with social distancing and charge a couple of quid more than Asda do for the same slot. Also did a couple of click and collects with Asda that worked well too.

214 · 27/07/2020 19:45

I'm a convert to Morrisons having been given the old heave ho by Sainsbury's despite holding a delivery pass and being with them for years, their loss!

JinglingHellsBells · 27/07/2020 19:45

I was able to get slots with Ocado all through lockdown as I have a midweek smartpass. I had to keep going onto the site to get slots at the worst times, but it got easier.

I may not buy so much when they drop Waitrose as I normally shop at Waitrose but wasn't able to get deliveries from them . I'd not had one for years when the lockdown began.

I find the quality of Tesco a bit better for most fruit and veg but they don't sell some of the things I like from Ocado/ Waitrose.

EinsteinaGogo · 27/07/2020 19:46

@sunflowerstory

Ocado are DEAD TO ME.

Wish I could direct them to a smug holding page that tells them how in demand I am with all the other online shops and how they're not a priority to me.

Yes - this!!

JinglingHellsBells · 27/07/2020 19:46

Not everyone has an Asda in their town or who can deliver. I don't.

FaceOfASpink · 27/07/2020 19:47

I sympathise OP.
Three are playing fast and loose with my affections as we speak.
We've been in a relationship for a couple of years now but it's kind of run its course. I want to stay for the sake of the number but I feel that if they won't do what they promised and make it so difficult for us to talk about how our relationship needs to change, I'l just going to have to LTB.

JinglingHellsBells · 27/07/2020 19:48

Then during the pandemic, they ditched me for another customer.

How can you possibly know that @SummerPoppies?

I found it was the luck of the draw when I logged in to get a slot or not.

Hen1983 · 27/07/2020 19:48

Oh yes, and as the icing on the cake, they emailed me a few days ago to let me know my 6 month smartpass was going up in price by just £18. There's not a chance of me stating with them!
