Would you pay £150 for pyjamas?

I’ve seen some pyjamas I really like with a jaguar print on. They were in a sponsored ad which said something along the lines of ‘everyone needs two pairs of our pyjamas during lockdown’ so I clicked and then saw they were £150 and made of cotton, not silk or gold or cashmere. Part of me thinks if you can afford it, what the hell but the other part of me questions if anyone in their right mind would pay this. So, AIBU to think £150 pyjamas are an utter waste of money?

My DH has bought me a couple of pairs of these. They’re gorgeous.

IceCreamSummer20 · 23/07/2020 19:58

They’d have to the finest silk and not the nicest pattern tbh.

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 23/07/2020 19:58

I couldn't justify it myself, but then again I just spent £100 on face creams

Nimello · 23/07/2020 19:58

They are not to my taste, but if you have the money to spend on pyjamas, then why not?

Popsy92 · 23/07/2020 19:58

No, I usually buy my pyjamas half price in Sainsburys 😂

Nimello · 23/07/2020 19:59

I don't like pyjamas, btw. Nighties are better.

TinyButton · 23/07/2020 19:59

Seeing as they're ugly pyjamas, no, I would not.

GenevaL · 23/07/2020 19:59

My bank balance says thanks to the people reassuring me that they own some and they aren’t worth it Smile

@AutumnLeavesSeptember love the tiger sweatshirt!

I would OP if I wasn’t a skinflint.

nowahousewife · 23/07/2020 20:02

Love those Meng silk pj's but a little out of my budget!

Am I imagining it or are some of those models on the D&D wbsite plus size? If not then those p's are not flattering!

Apart from that I have sent the link to DH as I have a birthday coming up soon....

Pesimistic · 23/07/2020 20:04

Absoultly not !

GeordieLass01 · 23/07/2020 20:05

To be fair, PJs are clothes now, right? £150 for an outfit, whilst expensive isn’t bad if you can afford it 😉

nowahousewife · 23/07/2020 20:05

ps. I wear the same to bed as Marilyn Monroe. Not because I'm sexy, just menopausal.

Curiosity101 · 23/07/2020 20:06

I would happily spend £150 on a good quality coat that will last me for several years. But I can't imagine spending that on pyjamas at all so I wouldn't.

GlassHouseYouGlassHouse · 23/07/2020 20:06

They have something very similar in Sainsburys at the moment Grin but a bit easier on the bank balance! I can't find them on the website for some reason.

Cam2020 · 23/07/2020 20:08

If you love them, then get them!

bluefoxmug · 23/07/2020 20:08

only if stranded somewhere and those were the only pj's available for miles.

but if you like them and can afford it, go for it.

DrDavidBanner · 23/07/2020 20:09

It’s very hard to buy ethically and the places charging £150 for a pair of pjs aren’t necessarily more ethical than the places charging £15 - although obviously with the £15 pair you can be 99.9% sure that there’s exploitation involved in the production.

I often wonder at this, but I'm a cynical old bitch. I'm not keen on the shaming of people who can't afford to pay more than supermarket / Primark prices either.

MarshaBradyo · 23/07/2020 20:09

No but I have spent half that on some discounted by 50%

I try to avoid fp on most things anyway

Helpplease222 · 23/07/2020 20:10

Bloody hell the £900 ones are beautiful but... blimey! They can’t even double up as something to walk the dog in

Joebloggsss · 23/07/2020 20:12

I would not spend that on Pjs but if that’s what you like nice night wear go for it.

RedCatBlueCat · 23/07/2020 20:15

Nope, that would be more than any item of clothing I've ever worn - including my wedding dress.

EachandEveryone · 23/07/2020 20:21

Sainsburys do fabulous cotton pajamas.

GlitteryUnicornSparkles · 23/07/2020 20:23

Absolutely not but then I’m poor.

BillyAndTheSillies · 23/07/2020 20:25

TK Maxx and Sainsbury's are my go to for cotton pyjamas. Picked up a lovely linen mix nightie from there a few weeks ago and I'm living in my Broderie Anglaise PJ's from TK at the moment.

Half tempted by these on Anthropologie though.

Would you pay £150 for pyjamas?
