Would you pay £150 for pyjamas?

I’ve seen some pyjamas I really like with a jaguar print on. They were in a sponsored ad which said something along the lines of ‘everyone needs two pairs of our pyjamas during lockdown’ so I clicked and then saw they were £150 and made of cotton, not silk or gold or cashmere. Part of me thinks if you can afford it, what the hell but the other part of me questions if anyone in their right mind would pay this. So, AIBU to think £150 pyjamas are an utter waste of money?

Fuck me yes I would

Itsarattrap · 23/07/2020 20:28

Confirmation. The world has gone mad.

zaffa · 23/07/2020 20:29

I would if they guaranteed a full nights sleep and my baby sleeping through the night.
Otherwise no. I can see no reason to spend so extravagantly in PJs, not even lingerie.

Purpletigers · 23/07/2020 20:30

Definitely not .

IdblowJonSnow · 23/07/2020 20:30

I might as a one off but not normally!

LesLavandes · 23/07/2020 20:31

Desmond & Dempsey are beautiful quality. I don't have any but my ex buys them for my children. Boo hoo to me 😂

Missfelipe · 23/07/2020 20:32

Love these but same...not sure I could justify it...saw this brand recently...might be a good dupe?

I'd rather sleep naked and give the money away. But then all my pjs are old stained baggy t-shirts.

DancingInDespair · 23/07/2020 20:37

I can buy a whole nice outfit for that, but in fairness, I spend more time in PJs.

massivecheeseplant · 23/07/2020 20:37

Hahaha, I was having this exact D&D discussion just a couple of days ago! I'd lusted after the sansindo tiger pyjamas for over a year before taking the plunge and bought the long pyjama set, followed by the matching shorts a couple of months later.

I couldn't justify the full spend so asked for two vouchers (they do £50 ones) for christmas from my sister and mum to go towards them. They also always have voucher codes (usually 15% off), so you don't need to pay full price.

Do I regret it? No. I've lived in them over the past few lockdown months, teaming the bottoms with tshirts, alternating between the long and shorts, depending on the temperature.

A couple of things to note though 1. D&D have an amazing way of infiltrating your mind - now you've got the D&D itch, it's pretty inevitable that you'll buy them eventually. And 2. I made mistake of washing the long pj set on a 40% wash and they lost their 'sheen'. I've only ever washed the shorts on 20 degrees and the difference is palpable.

In conclusion - it's complete madness, but if you really love a particular print, maybe think about it for a while and then see. The quality of the pyjamas isn't exeptional (for example, loads of other places like Hush and so on do great ones for cheaper). It's the print that makes them special.

I was so obsessed with the tiger print that I even bought a matching personalised diary via their collaboration with Papier (£20). Maybe start with the diary or personalised notebook and see if that satisfies your irrational desire for now... Grin

NewKittyMeow · 23/07/2020 20:38

Maybe if I were rich and they were made from silk.
Not cotton. They are pretty though - I might pay £60 for them.

HighlandPeach · 23/07/2020 20:40

My SIL bought me D&D pyjamas for Christmas. I was going to try to return them, but she had them personalised with my initials 😂 I like wearing the top, as the cotton in comfy. The bottoms broke, as the stitching was incorrect and D&D never replied to me when I emailed them.

They’re nice enough pyjamas, but no way would I spend more than £50 on them!!

feistyoneyouare · 23/07/2020 20:42

I think they're naice.

BitOfFun · 23/07/2020 20:44

I'd make myself a pair from a nice pattern rather than pay that much for cotton.

Spied · 23/07/2020 20:44

No, I'd break out in a cold sweat spending more than £25 on PJs.

BitOfFun · 23/07/2020 20:45

(Oh, and work on coming to terms that they would never make me as elegant as the model wearing them!)

NotFrozen · 23/07/2020 20:45

Yes absolutely! I hate fast fashion and cheap clothes that are discarded each year. We should all pay more for quality, ethical clothing that we love and which lasts.

cosycatsocks · 23/07/2020 20:47

I have paid £350 for pjs which seem totally ridiculous but they are lawn cotton and beautiful. Worth the money!

Staffy1 · 23/07/2020 20:50

@SantaClaritaDiet

£150 is quite cheap anyway,

I mean if you start shopping around, these are quite nice Grin

Dry clean only, and the price! Shock
Stannisbaratheonsboxofmatches · 23/07/2020 20:50

If I was incredibly rich I might.

iguanadonna · 23/07/2020 20:51

Cosysocks, where were the worth-it 350 pjs from?

cosycatsocks · 23/07/2020 20:52

Ooh my mistake the silk ones cost that, the cotton ones were much less

Anyway they are beautiful, soft and last forever. The bed linen is good too.

BitOfFun · 23/07/2020 20:52

These from M&S look lovely. And only £35!

Adeleide2 · 23/07/2020 20:57

Yes I would. I am obsessed with pyjamas and bedding during lockdown and have spent a fortune. This week I have bought 3 new set of beddings alone and I am googling for more Grin

Stircrazyschoolmum · 23/07/2020 21:02

I bought a pair of £120 sweaty Betty tracksuit bottoms (aka loungewear!) a couple of years ago.. complete impulse buy. Now I walk the dog daily at 7 a.m feeling decadent.. Very worth it!
