Would you pay £150 for pyjamas?

I’ve seen some pyjamas I really like with a jaguar print on. They were in a sponsored ad which said something along the lines of ‘everyone needs two pairs of our pyjamas during lockdown’ so I clicked and then saw they were £150 and made of cotton, not silk or gold or cashmere. Part of me thinks if you can afford it, what the hell but the other part of me questions if anyone in their right mind would pay this. So, AIBU to think £150 pyjamas are an utter waste of money?

I sleep better wearing them than my cotton ones.

£150 for PJ’s?! 😳😳

He’ll why not.... 😂

I’m kidding- absolutely not in a million years could I spend that on PJ’s but if you like them then go for it!!

Feelingconfused2020 · 23/07/2020 19:14

use the £145 to buy supplies for women and children in refuges

I'm not saying you don't do this, I don't know obviously, but I doubt the majority of people who could afford to do this.if you could afford £150 pajamas, would you really only spend a fiver? Surely there's a happy medium

Goodebe · 23/07/2020 19:15

OMG I’ve just ordered these - love them!

Patsypie · 23/07/2020 19:18

I'm getting some when I reach my goal weight! I'm sick of buying shit ones from Asda & Primark. The last ones I bought from M & S got a hole within a month. I'd like to see some reviews of D&D though

Srictlybakeoff · 23/07/2020 19:18

They are nice and I like a bit of luxury but no . I could think of much better ways to spend £150 if I wanted to spoil myself

1FootInTheRave · 23/07/2020 19:20

Probably not.

PinkiOcelot · 23/07/2020 19:20

No. I wouldn’t. But then again, I couldn’t afford to pay that for a going out outfit never mind for going to bed.

There are lots of glowing reviews on the white version.
SantaClaritaDiet · 23/07/2020 19:23

I have had Primark that are lasting years. Many of their clothes are surprisingly long lasting and actually decent quality, and just as good as other M&S or Next.

Babyroobs · 23/07/2020 19:23

They are nice but no I wouldn't pay that for pyjamas unless I was very wealthy and lived in my pyjamas.

GenevaL · 23/07/2020 19:24

Laigny, I promise I don’t work for them. I’m a teacher. I can’t afford them. I’m just wondering if pyjamas can really be priced at that much and many people buy two pairs, like their ad suggests!

Ellmau · 23/07/2020 19:24

Not to mention, they want you to buy two pairs...

crosser62 · 23/07/2020 19:24

Nope.

GenevaL · 23/07/2020 19:25

@SimonJT

I have spent a stupid amount of money on some clothes, I paid a lot of money versace open silk bedroom shirt, so I can’t tell people they’re spending too much on clothes!
Fascinated to know about a ‘bedroom shirt’ as I’ve never heard of them!

There is somewhere that does nice silk ones that aren’t much more. I can’t remember the name Blush

CountFosco · 23/07/2020 19:26

They are hand painted in the UK. Doesn't say where they are made or how sustainable their supply chain is though.

The real question is how cheaply could you make a pair of pyjamas yourself. It would take a few hours and take several metres of fabric, beautiful hand painted fabric will cost £££.

The reality is that cheap pyjamas from the high street will be made by women working for tiny wages in sweatshops. The question is not why some clothes are so expensive but why others are so cheap? We all have more clothes than we need. Maybe buying pyjamas that are £150 but only having 2 pairs and wearing them till they fall apart is better for the workers in the clothing factories and the environment?

ShirleyPhallus · 23/07/2020 19:28

I lusted after D&D pyjamas for ages she DH bought me some when I gave birth, knowing how much time I’d spend in them

What a bloody waste. The print is no where near as bright in real life and they’re not THAT good. They got returned and switched for a case of wine instead Grin

Whenwillthisbeover · 23/07/2020 19:28

Good grief no, I’m menopausal and it’s a miracle if I can keep my Primark shorts and vest on all night.

GenevaL · 23/07/2020 19:29

@SantaClaritaDiet

£150 is quite cheap anyway,

I mean if you start shopping around, these are quite nice Grin

Christ alive! £1k for pyjamas! And dry clean only!

I can definitely imagine myself wearing those on my yacht and then slinging on the cheapo £150 ones while making a cake or something messy.

If they'd show me a good time

ShirleyPhallus · 23/07/2020 19:29

@GoshHashana

I couldn't live with myself, honestly. Spend a fiver on a pair somewhere else and use the £145 to buy supplies for women and children in refuges.
Great idea. Spend £5 on pjs made by some poor worker in a 3rd world country getting paid 2p an hour.

Even better, buy a bench with the money....

FancyPants20 · 23/07/2020 19:30

I like the pineapple ones. I would buy them if they were 15 pounds. But they're not, so I guess I'll have to continue to go to bed unclothed. Woe is me!

crustycrab · 23/07/2020 19:30

Hmm, I would and I love them but now I've seen someone saying they're crap I don't know.

Decisions

stoploss · 23/07/2020 19:31

I would, and have paid more. I spend a l lot of money on bedding, shoes, underwear etc, anything that I spend a lot of time in.
