What grown adult would wear this?

Why would you even model it?!

I honestly have no words!

MaMisled · 20/07/2020 11:42

I was in a trendy part of London on Saturday and those things were everywhere!!! Absolutely awful but women aged 17 to 67 seem inexplicably drawn to them. Shapeless and way too billowy!!!

LabradorGalore · 20/07/2020 11:42

It’s based on a couture gown worn by Jodie Comer as Villanelle in Killing Eve. It works as fashion for very young women. Not sure I’d be caught doing the supermarket shop in it admittedly.

OneKeyAtATime · 20/07/2020 11:43

I have just got back from Primark where I saw some in the reduced to clear section!

MamehaSan · 20/07/2020 11:44

Is it supposed to be a rip-off of that Villanelle pink dress? Still hideous though.

pippistrelle · 20/07/2020 11:45

At least it'll be comfy...

Grumpbum123 · 20/07/2020 11:45

I knew even before I opened this thread it would be the H&M dress

Sn0tnose · 20/07/2020 11:45

I suspect that they might be aiming for a slightly younger market than your average Mumsnetter Wink

Fanthorpe · 20/07/2020 11:45

Very wafty and airy. Except it’s probably polyester so grim.

PotholeParadise · 20/07/2020 11:50

Reminds me of Anne of Green Gables and her desperation for puffed sleeves.

SisyphusAndTheRockOfUntidiness · 20/07/2020 11:53

That is hideous. It looks so, so cheap. Impressive, given that there's so much fabric in it. The fit is terrible (meant to be?), & the model looks simultaneously grumpy & amused.

@Fanthorpe - allegedly it's 100% cotton. The photos do not make it appear so. It's probably very cheap cotton, for the price.

SisyphusAndTheRockOfUntidiness · 20/07/2020 11:54

@PotholeParadise - yes! Grin

JaneR0chester · 20/07/2020 11:55

Back in 2013 Victoria Beckham wore an oversized blue dress, it was IMHO the start of this trend, probably as a reaction to all the years she had spent in bodycon dresses.

The trend since then has been towards looser fitting dresses, "prairie" dresses and in the last year specifically puffy sleeves (dresses and tops). Add in that gorgeous Molly Goddard pink gown in Killing Eve, the TV series itself was a culturally significant event and here we are...

I wouldn't wear head to toe pink (also this shade is a tad light for my colouring), I do have a version of this dress in black. But then I have always loved sack dresses and don't dress too "highlight my assets".

BambooWhoosh · 20/07/2020 11:55

I hate those type of sleeves. I'd never be able to get my cardi on.

iswhois · 20/07/2020 11:55

I like it!!!

InkieNecro · 20/07/2020 11:56

Ooh, it's like the party dress my mum made me when I was 6! Except mine fit me better than the models fits her.

Solaran · 20/07/2020 11:57

I’m not swayed by this particular one, but I think these dresses can look great, and I’m glad not everyone dresses in the same way - it’s fashion, it’s meant to be fun!

Why model it? Well, she has a job...and just like any job there are parts of it that people may not like...

Pays the bills, I guess.

Herja · 20/07/2020 12:00

It's disgusting in that photo, but I quite like it in the brief film of it on the website. The sleeves have been styled to look particularly mental in the photo. Not in pink, but I'd wear it in black or white pretty happily though.

FlashesOfRage · 20/07/2020 12:01

Ok I actually think it’s cute 🤷‍♀️

The main problem is all the pics are lacking one essential accessory.

A belt.👍

The only one of the customer pics that I could see showing it looking it’s best was this one;

TwoMuchTwoYoung · 20/07/2020 12:01

I love it, and I’m old!!

The one linked is 100% cotton.
ShastaBeast · 20/07/2020 12:02

I saw a middle age lady wearing similar recently. Definitely quirky but not flattering for most body types.

Laaalaaaa · 20/07/2020 12:03

I love that dress.

Fanthorpe · 20/07/2020 12:06

Blimey VanGogh that’s an amazing price, and does it stay puffy after washing?!?
