What grown adult would wear this?

Why would you even model it?!

@Llamazoom

It makes me think of Bubbles from Ab Fab. It’s hideous.
You nailed it with that comment!Star
ItsSpittingEverybodyIn · 20/07/2020 12:48

I hate it BUT it would be so comfy when pregnant!

Littlepond · 20/07/2020 12:49

I have this dress! I adore it.

YgritteSnow · 20/07/2020 12:51

Looks horrible on the model. Looks lovely in many of the photos of customers wearing it. I like it but couldn't wear it.

MirandaGoshawk · 20/07/2020 12:52

It reminds me of the Villanelle dress too. It was amazing in Killing Eve, ( as everything about that programme is - surreal!) but some things should not filter down to the High Street. VB looks ridiculous.

PreggoFeminist86 · 20/07/2020 12:52

I actually LOVE this dress Blush

I was in H&M recently (there's one open around the corner from me) & was so tempted to buy it. However a) the fabric is awful, sweaty polyester & b) I've breastfed 2 kids in the last 3 years & suspect It'd make my poor tits look like udders Grin

Aragog · 20/07/2020 12:56

However a) the fabric is awful, sweaty polyester

The link says it's 100% cotton.

SantanaBinLorry · 20/07/2020 12:57

I like it and i'd wear it. You defo need to be petite with good legs. I've got tiny feet also so could get away with chucky flat shoes. I think it would look daft with heels. None of my friends would bat an eyelid if i wore this. But my more straight laced friends might get a few funny looks.
The model in the ad is wearing the wrong size, even for a billowy dress!!

Alsohuman · 20/07/2020 12:57

It is cotton. I wouldn’t have bought it if it wasn’t.

PreggoFeminist86 · 20/07/2020 12:58

@Aragog oops, wrong dress! I was looking at this one in-store & although it may say its cotton on the site, it's shiny & plasticky (??) so I assumed polyester...

There are puffy sleeves everywhere. Diana’s wedding dress will be reappearing before we know it!

AudTheDeepMinded · 20/07/2020 13:00

I've seen these in the window of the local H and M and just thought 'nope'. Beyond grim, shapeless sack with flounces, why would you?

Crinkle77 · 20/07/2020 13:01

Was just going to say the same thing about looking like V's dress.
Lifeaback · 20/07/2020 13:02

I love the puff sleeve trend! On other people- I’m FAR too broad shouldered you pull it off but think it looks nice on petite frames. It’s a bit much in such a bold colour though, I prefer the pastel/white/black versions

Alsohuman · 20/07/2020 13:05

Yes it’s shiny because it’s satinised cotton, nothing plasticy about it. The fabric is very similar to a Toast dress I have which cost about nine times more. The most astonishing thing about it is that they managed to produce it at that price. Which makes me feel a bit queasy about the ethics of its production.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 20/07/2020 13:09

I remember when polished cotton was quite common. It was lovely.

SerenityNowwwww · 20/07/2020 13:10

I have seen their slightly creepy ad where they comment that they are going to be all recycled by 20-something-or-other (but they can say what they want because who will remember anyway).

I assumed they were just recycling dress designs from 1972?

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 20/07/2020 13:17

The pink is grim, but I LOVE the black & white versions. Cheers OP, I'm going to buy one of each Grin

Verite1 · 20/07/2020 13:20

My super fashionable friend has the long version of it and looks amazing in it.

SerenityNowwwww · 20/07/2020 13:22

I'm sure she is young, slim and fashionable. Those of us who... arent... will look like mad catlady.

notawittyname1954 · 20/07/2020 13:25

I'm 65 and whilst I wouldn't wear it myself I really like it. If I was young and slim and fashionable I would buy it. I agree a belt would make a difference and would look good with doc martens or converse

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 20/07/2020 13:26

The dress isn't for me but who made you the fashion arbiter, OP? Some posters on the thread like the dress... should they feel they have to apologise for that?

I hate these twattish threads, entirely construed to slap people down for liking certain things.

Midsommar · 20/07/2020 13:28

I love smock dresses, and anything loose fitting and billowy. Can eat a nice big meal and hide my whale belly easily Grin

PrivateD00r · 20/07/2020 13:30

The model looks like she is a child dressing up in her mother's old bridesmaid dress. The pictures are awful.

sideorderofchips · 20/07/2020 13:30

Pretty sure I wore this as a bridesmaid in 1990
