What grown adult would wear this?

Why would you even model it?!

It makes me think of Bubbles from Ab Fab. It’s hideous.

monkeyonthetable · 20/07/2020 12:08

Oh my eyes! It looks like something Grayson Perry would wear when he's being 'Clare'.

burninh · 20/07/2020 12:08

I love a big dress, much better than bodycon imo

Alsohuman · 20/07/2020 12:21

I’ve got the maxi version of that dress. It’s wonderful for wafting about on a hot day. It’s 100% cotton and washes like a dream.

SockYarn · 20/07/2020 12:22

Why would you even model it?!

Because you're being paid to.

I think it's a nice dress. Lovely bright colour and if you scroll down to the "styled by you" section showing real people wearing it, they all look great.

Quarantimespringclean · 20/07/2020 12:22

As a short fat booby middle aged woman it’s not for me but on a taller younger woman it would look great. And it’s cotton so very nice in the heat.

lazylinguist · 20/07/2020 12:28

Shock Utterly hideous. The choice isn't between bodycon and that monstrosity. I believe there are dresses out there which don't look like sausage casings or hot air balloons, ones designed to fit actual regular human bodies. God, I sound like my mother. Seriously though, it's a ridiculous item of clothing.

MyOldBeansy · 20/07/2020 12:28

YABU

The very point of fashion is to seperate the young from the old by centering on things the oldies wouldnt understand. As soon as someone who DOES understand it gets a bit older, the fashion changes again so that they don't.

Grandpa Simpson: "I used to be with it, but then they changed what IT was. Now, what I am with, isn't IT, and what's IT seems strange and scary to me" Grin

Thanks.

noimkaren · 20/07/2020 12:31

It's something called 'Cottage Core' www.telegraph.co.uk/fashion/style/festival-fashion-glastonbury-style-cottagecore-outfit-inspiration/

noimkaren · 20/07/2020 12:32

lazylinguist this might (or might not help) www.telegraph.co.uk/fashion/style/find-dress-looks-modern-elegant/

Nitpickpicnic · 20/07/2020 12:33

This is the dress you wear to prove you’re so profoundly chic and svelte that you’d good in anything.

You’d better be damn sure though...

YetAnotherSpartacus · 20/07/2020 12:34

Very wafty and airy. Except it’s probably polyester so grim

IT'S COTTON!!!!

I LIKE!!!

The sleeves are a bit iffy and they will probably fall south in annoying ways, but other than that I very much like it for a house dress.

I don't wear dresses out.

Scruffyoak · 20/07/2020 12:35

I searched tops on hm recently and so many were terrible.

AnneOfQueenSables · 20/07/2020 12:35

I love all the giant puff sleeve dresses and blouses. Perhaps it's left over from my love of Anne of Green Gables Grin but I absolutely want a dress or blouse with massive sleeves before summer is over.

mencken · 20/07/2020 12:35

my usual reaction to that is 'did you get dressed in the dark?'

hilariously comic outfit. Still, no law about going round dressed as a laughing stock.

pigsDOfly · 20/07/2020 12:35

It looks like a 1950s maternity smock, those things were made to cover a pregnant woman's bump and were most definitely not flattering.

Even the model in the video looks embarrassed to be wearing it. You can almost tell from her expression that she's thinking, 'what am I supposed to do with this'.

Alondra · 20/07/2020 12:37

I like it, like it much more than the tight clothes often seen these days. You need to be slim to wear it though.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 20/07/2020 12:39

Very wafty and airy. Except it’s probably polyester so grim

Really? I don't much care, but I thought it might hide my menopausal and lockdown blubber?

fedup2017 · 20/07/2020 12:39

I like it too.
That colour pink would look rubbish on me so I wouldn't buy it but love the shape and sleeves too.
The great thing about fashion is we don't all like the same things.

Fanthorpe · 20/07/2020 12:41

@YetAnotherSpartacus I’m the same, I have a big billowy/flappy knee length black H&M dress that I wear in the house. I love it but wouldn’t have the nerve to go out the door in it.

I see now that super-puff is cotton, that’s a very good price!

sonjadog · 20/07/2020 12:42

I like it and while I wouldn't wear it myself, I think it could look good on the right person.

1forAll74 · 20/07/2020 12:42

It doesn't look too bad in the smaller photo's in the AD. The woman in the ad is very flat chested and looks strange in the dress, it's a badly done photo.

Estellelauder · 20/07/2020 12:43

I have a dress like that in green. It’s called a Vango Longleat and it sleeps 4-6 of us easily 👌

Lifeisgenerallyfun · 20/07/2020 12:43

Well would hide any flabby arms that have developed during lock down
