What grown adult would wear this?

Why would you even model it?!

I have a friend who bought this! And then realised there's a reason why all the models are sitting down in the photos –it's so shapeless when standing.

Haworthia · 20/07/2020 13:31

Tiered smock dresses seem to be really in at the moment and I love them. So easy to wear, make you feel nicely dressed without being OTT. I always wear a belt with them though.

That H&M photo is awful! Have they inflated the sleeves with a hairdryer prior to taking the photograph? The model looks rough too - scrawny, no make up, bad hair.

Jeeeez · 20/07/2020 13:31

The pink one is grim.....reminds me of Diana's wedding dress Hmm

SerenityNowwwww · 20/07/2020 13:33

@PrivateD00r

The model looks like she is a child dressing up in her mother's old bridesmaid dress. The pictures are awful.
Now I know what it reminds me of - dollies! remember how dolls clothes were always stiff and billowy?
morriseysquif · 20/07/2020 13:33

Anne of Green Gables would have love it, being partial to a puffed sleeve!

Being over 50, that look is not for me.

ThatsHowWeRowl · 20/07/2020 13:36

I like it!

Not everyone is into (deathly dull) 'Parisian Chic' or 'Preppy' fashion.

Ilovemypantry · 20/07/2020 13:40

@BambooWhoosh

I hate those type of sleeves. I'd never be able to get my cardi on.
Sorry but that made me giggle 😂
PhilSwagielka · 20/07/2020 13:40

Anyone thinking of that bit in Anne of Green Gables where Anne is desperate to have a dress with puffed sleeves?

excuseforfights · 20/07/2020 13:41

I like it but sadly I think it works on waifs as the puffiness contrasts with the wearer's non-billowy arms.

ShinyFootball · 20/07/2020 13:53

Well the 80s have been back for a while

Reminds me of lady Di wedding dress!

diddl · 20/07/2020 13:57

I love it!

It wouldn't suit me sadly.

LadyofTheManners · 20/07/2020 13:59

I personally wouldn't wear it as I'm a size 18 and broad shouldered, but my skinny minx of a teen DD would rock that with big chunky boots and look cool as fuck.

planetfedup · 20/07/2020 13:59

Miss Ellie in Dallas used to wear a lot of this stuff - maybe Dallas ranch style is in vogue!

GuiltyBark · 20/07/2020 14:01

If I wore that I'd look like a mattress with full valance

GuiltyBark · 20/07/2020 14:01

This has got me googling Princess Di's wedding dress. It was preposterous wasn't it? Those sleeves!

Welshponyslave · 20/07/2020 14:03

I’ve bought it! 😂 That shade of pink looks awesome on me. This thread is making me laugh because the dress is very marmite but I love it, i am styling it with a little black biker jacket, a cocktail and a wide smile!

LazyFace · 20/07/2020 14:05

If only they had wires in I might be tempted to buy one. It looks like the perfect social distancing outfit.

Welshponyslave · 20/07/2020 14:06

I should say I have the longer length one.

feelingverylazytoday · 20/07/2020 14:06

It looks very cool and comfortable, but I can't really see it catching on. I've only seen one person wear this style in real life.
I would never wear it myself because one of my pet hates in fashion is big puffy sleeves. But other people might love them which is fine.

Soubriquet · 20/07/2020 14:07

Hmmm maybe it’s the model wearing it that makes it look worse than it is

HazelBite · 20/07/2020 14:07

I just wanted to give that model a square meal and a shampoo!

viques · 20/07/2020 14:08
@YetAnotherSpartacus I’m the same, I have a big billowy/flappy knee length black H&M dress that I wear in the house. I love it but wouldn’t have the nerve to go out the door in it.

I see now that super-puff is cotton, that’s a very good price!
I have a similar "hot weather" dress, bought from monsoon, can't remember when but well before the millennium! Probably very early 90s , I bought two dresses at the same time and I remember wearing one of them ,not the black one, to a job interview.

It has a tiny little hole (moth?), and is faded as black material often does but is perfect for the hottest days. I have worn it out in recent years but only on the sort of day when anything goes...... It's long , ankle length, and doesn't touch any where from my shoulders down!

BlingLoving · 20/07/2020 14:09

Is that H&M? I know, it's hideous.

Willowkins · 20/07/2020 14:10

I'm pretty sure I still have a bridesmaid dress like that from the 90s Grin

viques · 20/07/2020 14:10

You could keep spare masks and a little hand sanitiser or two in the sleeves........ Grin
