My teen DD has just had an ASOS order - i said off the cuff, "what would you do if they weren't around", which resulted In 😱😱😱😱😱

With so many shops and restaurants in vulnerable positions, what would you really, really miss if they didn't pull through the next year?

Mint velvet
Oliver bonas
Our local boutique which also has a fab gift section which you can always find a pressie in when you need one.
Local deli and coffee shop.

HotChoc10 · 17/07/2020 19:34

Pret! Though I would also like to continue working from home and I imagine town/city centre workers are their main customers.

rosiethehen · 17/07/2020 19:40

I like Carphone Warehouse as we always get our phones from them and they're helpful when it comes to sorting out a suitable contract and swapping our stuff over.

Helocariad · 17/07/2020 19:44

Pizza Express.

MotheringShites · 17/07/2020 19:45

I know they’ve gone downhill in recent years, but I would really, really miss my local John Lewis.

SillyUnMurphy · 17/07/2020 19:45

Cote brassiere. We like to go there for brunch at the weekend

LatteLover12 · 17/07/2020 19:45

John Lewis!

PunishmentSnart · 17/07/2020 19:49

DS has just nearly fainted at the thought of ASK restaurants closing.
I second ASOS actually - I hate shopping so order loads online then try on and send back. It’s very easy and quick there with loads of options.
We tend to eat out at local restaurants a lot so I’d be upset if any of them went under (they shouldn’t coz I’ve also ordered many a takeaway from them Grin)

Another one for John Lewis. Our local one is reopening soon and I am so happy! I am 52 now but I remember being taken to that branch by my grandmother as a very small child, we would shop in the haberdashery and then go for tea!

Also, I want our Yo! Sushi to open up again!

Emma Bridgewater ❤️

The Works. Love it for cheap books and a good range of art materials and stationary. Always prefer seeing stationary in a shop than online. Would definitely miss it, if they go.
M and S food.

Everything and everyone involved with our upcoming holiday...

lidoshuffle · 17/07/2020 19:56

I only go in at Christmas and rarely buy much, but Liberty for the fabulousness of the building.

OneKeyAtATime · 17/07/2020 19:56

The ones that come to mind for me are only small local shops and restaurants. Of course, I would be sad if bigger chains closed and people lost their jobs.

SwedishEdith · 17/07/2020 19:58

Waterstone's
Pizza Express was already in trouble Sad
I'd switched from Pret to an independent cafe - I am worried about them.

EinsteinaGogo · 17/07/2020 19:58

@Helocariad

Pizza Express.
I did think that when I used their dressing earlier.

I think anything that relied on things like Clubcard vouchers is on thin ice, sadly. What do you think?

Another for John Lewis. I was miss our local one. Have shopped online with them during lockdown as had to get the next car seat up for my son. I tend to buy big items there as have always had a good experience with them. They had a replacement baby monitor out to us within 24 hours during lockdown to when the monitor stopped charging.

MarcelineMissouri · 17/07/2020 20:00

Pizza express - we used to go just about every week
Debenhams - I have a real soft spot for it!
Cinemas - dh works for them Grin

LakieLady · 17/07/2020 20:01

Debenhams. I'll have to start paying Bravissimo prices for my boulder-holders if Debenhams goes.

If we had a John Lewis within about 50 miles, I'd miss them, but I only buy a few things from there.

Sea Salt and White Stuff going would be a bit grim. I live in a small town, but we have both, so they get a fair bit of trade from me. Anything to avoid going into a city!
