My teen DD has just had an ASOS order - i said off the cuff, "what would you do if they weren't around", which resulted In 😱😱😱😱😱

With so many shops and restaurants in vulnerable positions, what would you really, really miss if they didn't pull through the next year?

@shinynewapple2020

Next for me - always my go to for clothing, particularly as they sell so many different brands through their website .
I wonder if Next could become the Amazon of the clothing world? Like you say, their website is a platform for so many brands and their delivery service is very good (in my experience).

Uniqlo
Pho - gutted that they've opened or announced dates for what appears to be all branches except the ones near me.
Leon
Curzon Cinema

I use most supermarkets, so one disappearing wouldn't make too much difference.

Apolloanddaphne · 17/07/2020 21:19

White Stuff
Fat Face
Jigsaw.

I will be naked if they all go bust!

Overcautiouscorona · 17/07/2020 21:31

@OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow agree with Boyes. Total southerner but highlight of our trips north are Boyes, they always have stuff I desperately need but didn't know I wanted.

AriettyHomily · 17/07/2020 21:32

@lidoshuffle

I only go in at Christmas and rarely buy much, but Liberty for the fabulousness of the building.
Not enough to save a business unfortunately, they've been in dire straits for a long time
teenmumandsowhat · 17/07/2020 21:37

Seasalt
Whitestuff
Most of my clothes come from these two shops. Also my local independent sweetshop. They went online at the start of the lockdown with a local hand delivery service or postage if not in local area.

Auldspinster · 17/07/2020 21:37

I discovered Boyes on holiday in Scarborough (from Edinburgh), my mum stocked up on tabards.

Proudtocare · 17/07/2020 21:38

Hush & Jigsaw for me
Lush for the DDs

Crunched · 17/07/2020 21:50

JaceLancs are you me? Additionally I couldn't imagine a high street without M&S and Boots. They are part of my DNA somehow.

Mildura · 17/07/2020 21:58

A number of posters naming Pizza Express.

They were in massive trouble long before Covid. Over £1billion of debt (or about £2.5m per restaurant!!!!) thanks to a succession of Private Equity deals over the last 10years.

They’re in a massive hole.

AnnaNimmity · 17/07/2020 22:05

Just pret for me. I could do without any shops or other chains.

the theatres, Royal Albert Hall. Concert venues probably .

I'm a bit sad about Percy Ingle. I'd be sad about Dishoom or some of my local pubs/restaurants probably

WellTidy · 17/07/2020 22:19

John Lewis - where would I buy my Easter, Christmas and Halloween decorations?

M and s - I buy masses there - undies, school uniform, socks, pyjamas, clothes, shoes, slippers, tights, toiletries ... not to mention food.

White stuff - I love their knitwear and skirts. And tights, and scarves.

rosiejaune · 17/07/2020 22:20

Nothing, if we're talking chains. I hope they all go under and sustainable independent businesses and co-ops take local high streets back over.

Wicksteed Park. I went there as a child and their current status is confusing. I don't understand if they've fully closed or what is happening.
Wicksteed Park is closing ?? OMG that's awful if it is Sad
chaoticisatroll55 · 17/07/2020 22:40

John Lewis. I was in there today buying shit I don't really need ( quite nice shit- molten brown hand wash and Mac eyeshadow) but wanted to support the shops.

Legoandloldolls · 17/07/2020 22:48
