My teen DD has just had an ASOS order - i said off the cuff, "what would you do if they weren't around", which resulted In 😱😱😱😱😱

With so many shops and restaurants in vulnerable positions, what would you really, really miss if they didn't pull through the next year?

John Lewis, GAP, Boots, Jet2

PushyMeez · 18/08/2020 19:00

All of them of course, even Mike Ashley ones. But personal faves:

Retail: Boots, Argos, M&S, Next, Homesense, B&Q, Thorntons, Currys

Restaurants: Damon's, Ember Inns and Greene King places, Burger King, Nandos, Frankie and Benny's

Leisure: Showcase cinemas! the West End, and soft plays (2 local to me have confirmed to stay closed for good 😞)

PushyMeez · 18/08/2020 19:04

Oh and the White Company!!! 😍

JonHammIsMyJamm · 18/08/2020 19:06

M&S
Boots

I shop in both of those regularly

PushyMeez · 18/08/2020 19:06

Interesting fact for those wondering about WHSmith: it owns FunkyPidgeon!

PickAChew · 18/08/2020 19:13

Next - I get so much stuff for my teens from there but they do seem to still be having some stock issues. Ds2's joggers are either outgrown or past their most pristine.

Pret - 2 of our 3 in the area never reopened. They used to always be busy, too.

Seasalt and fat face. A huge chunk of my wardrobe as I wear natural fibres. DH likes fat face jeans, too.

PickAChew · 18/08/2020 19:15

And absolutely definitely John Lewis. There was some worry about ours, as it's in an intu centre.

Pinksmyfavoritecolour · 18/08/2020 19:17

John Lewis, Waterstones, M & S food, Home bargains, Card factory, Superdrug, hobbycraft, Asda living.

elp30 · 18/08/2020 19:20

I have been living in the US since 2004 and every visit to the UK is to fill my suitcases with books from Waterstones and clothes and assorted things from John Lewis or Selfridges. I love getting groceries from Waitrose and M&S. Those would devastate me if they were gone!

@dannydyerismydad

I can't believe no one has mentioned Tiger.

John Lewis I love and our high street would be dead without it. But no trip to town is complete without a haul of tat from Tiger.

Never even heard of tiger 🤷‍♀️

I am going to miss long tall sally. There's nothing else I would really miss to be honest, except maybe M&S

shinyredbus · 18/08/2020 19:32

Peter Jones, John Lewis, Victoria’s Secret, Zara.

ginghamtablecloths · 18/08/2020 19:38

M&S - their bras and pants fit me perfectly, also their separates.

John Lewis - love to have a mooch round their haberdashery.

Long Tall Sally has been sold, so hopefully will be back.

Our local (retail park but a short walk from where I live) M&S has been fantastic throughout lockdown. It has a decent sized food hall so remodelled its downstairs along the lines of a supermarket with a food and home section. I'd grown a bit jaded of their food but their stocks were so good, early on in lockdown, that I've been doing more than half of my grocery shopping there.

They has been innovating beforehand, too. The darlo store closed, last year, replaced by an out of town simply food, but they opened a simply food concession in a nearby WHS, back in November, that massively increased footfall in Smiths.
