Is it cruel to throw sea monkeys away?

MIL got the the kids sea monkeys for Xmas I've only been the one bothered about them. They freak me out more than anything and can't bare the thought of bringing them to the new house.

Are these the type of pets you give away? Are they pets I don't know 🤣

I hope everyone on here speaking for the right to life of a monkey fish is also pro-actively speaking out against abortion of tiny humans in the womb.

Only on Mumsnet

Oddly enough, yes. I’m a vegetarian pro lifer

Gobbycop · 12/07/2020 18:06

I'm going to bookmark this as the 1st page is already hilarious.

Dairy cows and their calves can just do one though hey? Grin

Yeah, throwing out sea monkeys and deciding whether to terminate a pregnancy are totally the same.
PablosHoney · 12/07/2020 18:38

Oh wow this has taken a turn 😂😂 I agree re Dairy cows @MissBaskinIfYoureNasty.

Sparklewater · 12/07/2020 19:13
@sparklewater. I would be concerned if someone reprimanded my child harmlessly chasing pigeons. The pigeons come right back for more and it looks mutually enjoyable and fun for all parties. It is a real spectacle of nature watching them fly. Maybe you could approach the parent/carer first?. In my case I would politely decline to agree with you.
I don't go nuts, just ask them politely to stop as it frightens the birds. I've done it at the zoo when a kid was chasing a peacock as well. If the parent can see them doing it and hasn't already told them to stop, then it's pretty clear they're not going to care if I say something to them.

It's not fun for the animal or bird being chased, they are not 'coming back for more' Confused

Well, that escalated quickly.

I wonder if the people who think discarding sea monkeys is cruel also get sad about yeast being turned into bread....

I'd love to see the state of their houses...

It's a shame about the ants but the ants were here first so I can't get rid of them.

Hoovering? You murderer! Do you know how many dust mites those things kill?

😂

Looking at the colour of the carpet when used the carpet cleaner on the weekend, I have certainly done my fair share of saving the animals.

WhattheFishappening · 13/07/2020 13:54

I swatted a midge this morning.
It died a sudden and brutal death and I’m now thoroughly ashamed of myself after reading this thread Hmm

Coronabegone · 13/07/2020 14:36

@WhattheFishappening and so you bloody should 😡! Outrageous behaviour, you'd think nothing of putting the pet hamster in the microwave to make a delicious lunch would you!

Did you just say 'all lives matter' referring to sea Monkeys?

A new low is reached.

JKSHGDKJGSH · 31/12/2020 08:25

Yes it is cruel to discard another life irrespective of its form. Why not throw away your kids?

Dizzywizz · 31/12/2020 08:37

How random to revive a 6 month old thread on sea monkeys @JKSHGDKJGSH!

Are you a vegan then I hope?
thebirthlyhallows · 31/12/2020 08:45

When I saw this was a revived zombie thread I was hoping the MIL had bought replacement sea monkeys for Xmas Smile

Nohomemadecandles · 31/12/2020 08:48

One of the best zombie revivals ever!

Suzi888 · 31/12/2020 09:01

@frostedviolets

God what an awful thread this is.

Take out ‘sea monkey’ and replace with ‘puppy’ or ‘kitten’ or ‘bunny’ and the tone would be very different.

They are living, breathing creatures...
Of course you don’t ‘throw them away’, how fucking vile.
You bought them, you look after them or you sell/give them away to someone who will

^^ yes It’s an aquarium pet!
TeddysTigerEyes · 31/12/2020 09:39

Oh is this back? Brilliant.

They won't fit down the toilet

Thanks for reviving this one, I really enjoyed it first time round - a batshit thread for a batshit year
