It's approx 5 miles

If not, what are main reasons you can't/don't?

AHF1975 · 21/06/2020 18:23

Yes, but on the days I don't it's because I'm sitting at my desk working

Figgygal · 21/06/2020 18:24

Nope
Probably walking more now at home and not commuting but in week it’s still 6-7k weekends usually up to 10k but typically in week when at work I get up, drive to work, sit down all day, drive home sort out kids then sit down cos knackered

Need to change my ways

DustyMaiden · 21/06/2020 18:24

Not recently. Not leaving the house often. I do run on the spot when I’m cooking.

Ughmaybenot · 21/06/2020 18:25

Nope. I have Ehlers Danlos syndrome, chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. Walking is not my favourite thing Grin

corythatwas · 21/06/2020 18:25

Haven't lately because I've been working very long days. Just finished marking so normal service about to return. Dd doesn't because she is disabled. Ds probably does. Dh again has been working longer hours since working from home.

sallyisstarstruck · 21/06/2020 18:25

Yes. Average day at work is 12-16000 steps.

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 21/06/2020 18:26

I was before lockdown started and we were only allowed to go out once a day. We have a dog so DH and I ended up taking it in turns to walk him whereas usually I'd do it twice a day. I've done 16000 today as we've been out as a family with the dog on a longer walk but I've been averaging about 6k-7k recently. I need to get my ass back in gear

eurochick · 21/06/2020 18:27

I used to, just walking to and from the station and around the office.

Runbitchrun · 21/06/2020 18:27

Yes. There are days when I do less, but currently on a 44 day streak for hitting at least 10 000 steps a day.

JacobReesMogadishu · 21/06/2020 18:28

Nearer 15,000 but at least 10,000.

I walk the dog for 90 mins every morning so that takes care of a massive chunk.

YgritteSnow · 21/06/2020 18:28

Yes. Usually much more - between 15 and 18k.

eurochick · 21/06/2020 18:29

It's harder during lockdown. I'm busier with work and childcare and I have to make a concerted effort for exercise. Weekend walks are with a five year old so we can make 10,000 steps but there will be whinging! We did about 7k steps on our walk today.

Dixiechickonhols · 21/06/2020 18:29

Yes. Usually at least 15,000. We have a dog and walking is my only exercise since swimming pool closed.

user1471481356 · 21/06/2020 18:30

Yep, every single day. If I don’t exercise I hit around 10,000. When I exercise it’s closer to 15-20,000.

mum2jakie · 21/06/2020 18:31

I've been consciously trying to walk more since lockdown started and I've more time with less time commuting. Think I'm still under the 10,000 step mark but have a walk every single day.

HilaryBriss · 21/06/2020 18:31

No, nowhere near. As to why I dont, an office job, commute by car etc. I'm not going for a 5 mile walk in my lunch hour.

Ashhead24 · 21/06/2020 18:31

No, am home with the DC at the moment and averaging 6.5k, which is definitely more than I was doing at my desk job. I have toddler DC who walk incredibly slowly and don't walk that far, so we aren't getting walks in unless they are very short. So 6.5k is mostly just walking around the house and garden.

WisestIsShe · 21/06/2020 18:32

Yes but only because the dog makes me!

Studycast · 21/06/2020 18:33

Yes we have two active dogs

LadyPrigsbottom · 21/06/2020 18:33

No! I probably walk about 4-5 km most week days, with school run (3 km) and a little walk with the toddler, (guesstimating 2 km). If I did both school runs every day, then I would get more mileage in, but dh likes doing it in the mornings while he's WFH.

elinu · 21/06/2020 18:35

No, I probably do it on about half the days. I have a toddler in a buggy so it's not fair to walk for miles while she's strapped in there and wanting to go off exploring herself, but when we go out to a park where she can walk safely without traffic, she stops to look at things/pick things up, so I don't manage to clock up many steps chasing after her. On the days that I manage it, I'm walking to a park further away, but I need to break up the journey by stopping at one or two other parks to let her run around a bit - it ends up taking up the whole morning (which is fine right now, because we have entire days to fill).

ktp100 · 21/06/2020 18:38

Yes. I've made it a priority to continue throughout lockdown (once I'd got over the dreaded lurgy that I will never know was or was not covid because the government are shit).

I tend to do around 5 a day just pootling around the house and getting jobs done. If I can't get out of the house I walk around the living room while watching telly (10 minutes is around 1k steps).

ktp100 · 21/06/2020 18:39

I mean I do around 5 up til dinnertime, then do the additional 5 in the evening.

SheWranglesRugRats · 21/06/2020 18:42

Yes, 3/4 before nine a.m. I run before work every day. I wfh so if I didn’t I probably wouldn’t break 2500 a day.

TerrifiedandWorried · 21/06/2020 18:42

10-12k on a typical work day (TA) and usually 8-10k at the weekend. More if we go for a walk.
