Churchill removed from Google

But they've left Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini.

If you Google "British prime ministers" you'll get them all, along with images but Churchill's photo has been replaced with a holder (they've also forgotten his first term).

Google world war two leaders and Churchill's picture is still gone, but Hitler et al. are still up.

AIBU to think this is nuts?

Does "Churchill" reveal the car insurer, or was that censored as well when whoever voiced the dog was done for drink driving?

OrangeCinnamon · 14/06/2020 08:01

Doesn't google feed from Wiki...

Calm down ?

lovepickledlimes · 14/06/2020 08:02

Just tried it too.... Really odd what happened

Silvercatowner · 14/06/2020 08:02

I've just googled and got 138 million hits? I'm not sure I understand...

slashlover · 14/06/2020 08:03

I just googled Scottish First Ministers and NONE of them have photos! Disgrace!

BashStreetKid · 14/06/2020 08:05

@theonlywayisapple

I see the far left are out in force
Really? What do you base that on?
jokolo · 14/06/2020 08:06

Wow, I never expected them to memory hole Churchill. The google search results distortions are disturbing. It's unfortunately been culture-warred into a right wing talking point, like free speech, but tbh I don't think it should be! It should concern us all.

There are numerous examples of them doing this - there's the 'white couples' image search and 'american inventors' infograph and the previously mentioned 'women killed 2019' text results. But all of those are more difficult/complex to talk about than actually just erasing the most venerated British prime minister in history. I think they've made a tactical error.

OrangeCinnamon · 14/06/2020 08:07

@slashlover that DOES seem off

Often when photo that feed into tgese things get changed or moved the link gets broken ...or even worse the wrong person gets attributed. Not sure what the Scottish first feeds from.

EasynowPatrick · 14/06/2020 08:07

He’s there when I search!?

BashStreetKid · 14/06/2020 08:08

Wow, I never expected them to memory hole Churchill.

just erasing the most venerated British prime minister in history.

Paranoia central. They have neither memory holed nor erased him. Look at the screenshot. They simply don't have his picture up.

EasynowPatrick · 14/06/2020 08:09

Do your searches prioritise things that google thinks you do/don’t want to see?

CuteOrangeElephant · 14/06/2020 08:09

I doubt this has been done on purpose.

I hope people do realise that none of these lists are curated by people?

OrangeCinnamon · 14/06/2020 08:09

@bluemoooon for some strange reason you seem to imply that those who support BLM are not British?

borntobequiet · 14/06/2020 08:10

This is simply not true.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 14/06/2020 08:10

@Bluemoooon

If you want British people to stand up for themselves and not support BLM this is the way to do it.
Many British people are black and standing up for themselves may well involve supporting BLM.
user1471565182 · 14/06/2020 08:12

Are black people foreign, Bluemoon?

EasynowPatrick · 14/06/2020 08:14

Only joking, it is definitely antifa! Quick look there are now no images of the queen either, what will the bastards think of next!

user1471565182 · 14/06/2020 08:14

For theonlyway

TellMe5 · 14/06/2020 08:15

Fake news.

chomalungma · 14/06/2020 08:16

I am surprised they can't find a picture of Churchill for that place holder.

I have just found a lot of pictures of Churchill on Google they could use.

user8558 · 14/06/2020 08:18

It's only happening in the UK.

It's been like that for 8 hours

Seems very odd

user8558 · 14/06/2020 08:19

If they feed from wiki and someone has interfered with that

chomalungma · 14/06/2020 08:20

It's true
No picture from 1951 - 1955
and no mention of 1940 - 1945

This is going to go viral this morning.

Users outside of the UK have reported the same missing photo.
