To be mildly gutted about primark?!

As in that apparently it won't be amongst the 'non essential' shops opening June 15th....

I know they're doing what they think is the right thing (& at this stage in the proceedings non of us know for sure what's best) but I for one am seeing them as pretty darn Essential right now, especially as all my pre lockdown clothes seem to have inexplicably and simultaneously shrunk! Hmm

So many places online seem to have sold out of decent but reasonably priced cotton shorts in my size (newly acquired 12 - apparently - so fairly average) and till today I'd kind of been pinning my hopes on a brief stock up at my local in a week or two but alas it seems its not too be... Sad

Anyone else a bit peeved it's going to have to be either immediate diet or the drastic measure of the shoe horn (resulting in horrific double - ended muffin top, no doubt)?! And also recommend anywhere online I can get some cotton, preferably cotton linen blend, elasticated waist shorts??
I can't be only Lockdown Lardy out there? Grin

I have so much stuff from Primark that I've worn again and again. I have pyjamas that pre date my 8 year old DD! I've made do with H&M and Asda clothing but personally I think Primark quality is far far better. H&M in particular is atrocious, everything becomes wide and short after one wash.

I have an ever growing list of basics I'd like to get from Primark so it looks like I'll have to be patient!

allfalldown47 · 28/05/2020 08:36

Dd is at uni but works part time in primark. They have treated staff at her store really well throughout lockdown, she has been paid throughout and management have been in touch regularly checking how staff are.
Her degree is related to fashion, she is in agreement with other posters and finds the sneering attitude of some 'interesting'
Do people honestly think their high end/superior clothing isn't made in sweatshops? You're pay for the advertising, big salaries etc That's why you pay more!

Baby DS is growing like a weed and I can’t find clothes anywhere else that come close to what Primark can offer. Resorted to a trip to Sainsbury’s specifically for clothes for him and if your not spending ££ then it’s boring bobby basics and that’s your lot. More choice if you have a baby girl for sure.

showmewhatyougot · 28/05/2020 15:23

I can't think of anywhere worse to go then primark, it's will be packed full of the same idiots who pack the beaches.

cherish123 · 28/05/2020 17:35

Would shop there because of their breach of human rights.

deandra · 28/05/2020 17:36

I picked up a nice denim look pair of linen shorts in Morrie's yesterday 😊

hotstepper4 · 28/05/2020 17:38

I ordered from Matalan. Quite a limited stock but got what I needed and ok prices.

I miss primark too ☹️

malificent7 · 28/05/2020 17:41

Shein are good..and cheap...better quality than primark too.

maysiemay · 28/05/2020 17:44

I could do with some nice knickers and summer pj's from there.

I have been buying and selling though the vinted app. Bundle of kids and my clothes have been going really well. The money is held by vinted untill buy says received and happy. I have been buying lots of new stuff as well. Really love a pair of hand painted Galaxy shorts (bit short to actually leave the house in!) and a fab new white t-shirt. Buying neutral really appeals to me as i am not frittering away cash. Decluttering loads at the same time.

Mountain warehouse have some nice kids stuff in currently and bought my husband some shorts while i was putting in an order. I bet they have nice womens shorts.

Everytimeref · 28/05/2020 17:47

Primark buy their clothes at the same factories of many other shops do.

Please don't be fooled into paying more means the factory workers making them aren't being exploited.

leannetta · 28/05/2020 18:02

YABVVU to call a size 12 ’lardy’. When you've spent 2 years going from a 26 to a 12, and then someone calls that lardy, it really puts a dent in your ego. Have you tried Evans? 🤣😳. Seriously though hope you find what you're looking for. Tkmaxx have restarted their online shopping...?

Scattyhead · 28/05/2020 18:03

Whattttt primarks not opening ????? Why

Taliya · 28/05/2020 18:05

Last time I was in Tesco all their F and M range of clothing was on sale ...all half price...

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 28/05/2020 18:05

Uniqlo still have stock and reducing prices

Eg www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/women/bottoms/shorts?quickView=424951

Mynameisrow · 28/05/2020 18:07

Browse Shein if you’re missing your cheap clothes fix! Check the reviews for pictures of people wearing them before making a purchase and you’re good to go.

mylifestory · 28/05/2020 18:21

Ebay. They have evrything at the click of a button!

bigmumsymcgraw · 28/05/2020 18:21

Stop whining. Primark workers rights are more important than your fucking shorts - wearing them to the beach with other dimwits who cant follow basic instruction????

Winnipegdreamer · 28/05/2020 18:22

George does some fab bits and better quality than primark, more like next and m&s

WingingWonder · 28/05/2020 18:29

Primark, who made more profit than most last year, have refused to pay for garments they ALREADY OWN leaving thousands of workers literally starving as factories have no income to pay them. They are despicable. Likewise Arcadia group, gap and Asda.
I would look at h&m, M&S & Sainsburys who are reasonably priced & have all paid up as they bloody should
Google lost box if you need a view on how bad it is
I also say this as someone needing a new wardrobe...

glennamy · 28/05/2020 18:35

Go on a diet and stop pigging out!

MrsBadcrumble123 · 28/05/2020 18:36

Get a grip OP

jade9390 · 28/05/2020 18:39

Ebay is a bit sparse atm but better than going out. Check Select because the clothes are made in the UK. To all moaning about Primark, at least it is honest, they make cheap sweat shop clothes with low profit margins. I am fed up of designers using the same sweatshops, making maximum profit and paying the same low wages. Primark is as good quality as anywhere else. I just received undies from M&S today, the fabric is too thin and they are absolute crap, made in Bangladesh because they closed their factories here.

ssd · 28/05/2020 18:44

I can't imagine how they'll social distance, their shops are crammed with just one walkway right through.

Cinderella66 · 28/05/2020 18:47

I've been using thrift plus which sells good quality used clothes from good retailers, I.e. no primark's or h n m. They've even got a designer section 😁

juneybean · 28/05/2020 18:50

Are you sure? Wife's friend works at a northern one and is convinced he's back to work on 15th.
