To be mildly gutted about primark?!

As in that apparently it won't be amongst the 'non essential' shops opening June 15th....

I know they're doing what they think is the right thing (& at this stage in the proceedings non of us know for sure what's best) but I for one am seeing them as pretty darn Essential right now, especially as all my pre lockdown clothes seem to have inexplicably and simultaneously shrunk! Hmm

So many places online seem to have sold out of decent but reasonably priced cotton shorts in my size (newly acquired 12 - apparently - so fairly average) and till today I'd kind of been pinning my hopes on a brief stock up at my local in a week or two but alas it seems its not too be... Sad

Anyone else a bit peeved it's going to have to be either immediate diet or the drastic measure of the shoe horn (resulting in horrific double - ended muffin top, no doubt)?! And also recommend anywhere online I can get some cotton, preferably cotton linen blend, elasticated waist shorts??
I can't be only Lockdown Lardy out there? Grin

Primark is havoc at the best of times

Its always every man for himself, no way can you maintain social distancing in primark!

Im a bit disappointed as its where I buy all socks/pants/tights, but Im sure Ill cope

SirGawain · 27/05/2020 19:59

Try Sainsbury’s. Their clothes are reasonably priced and better quality than Primark.

maryd84 · 27/05/2020 20:01

Nothing wrong with primark stuff. They always have cute tops and other nice bits. I miss primark too🙁

IncrediblySadToo · 27/05/2020 20:02

I imagine you'll find elasticated shorts at M&S online too.

Primark would have been Utter carnage.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 27/05/2020 20:04

YABU, Primark is dreadful.

feelingverylazytoday · 27/05/2020 20:05

Try Sainsbury's
No thanks.
I'm with you, OP. I'm sure they'll open before much longer though.

Toilenstripes · 27/05/2020 20:05

But so often shopping at Primark is about buying 7 bags of crap for £20. I buy clothes at my local charity shops. Great clothes for great prices.

MondeoFan · 27/05/2020 20:05

I thought they'd be opening. Don't they know I have a desperate teenager here?

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 27/05/2020 20:09

H&M delivered to my dc in 3 days.

MrsNoah2020 · 27/05/2020 20:10

Not everyone can afford 'better shops' and don't fool yourself that thier clothes are not cheaply made either

Agree with that. And I still regularly wear a skirt I bought in Primark in 1997!

Having said that, I think Primark is a bit over-hyped - you have to wade through a lot of junk to find the good stuff. I prefer Sainsburys & Tescos.

ClassicCola · 27/05/2020 20:10

I love Primark Jeans. They do a long leg length that always fit me.

InFiveMins · 27/05/2020 20:11

YABU but only because I cannot stand Primark! Grin

fantasmasgoria1 · 27/05/2020 20:11

Yes primark do cheaper stuff that people may call tat but they do sell more expensive stuff which isn't bad. In fact primark pyjamas are the longest lasting ones I have ever had and I have spent a fair amount on them from other stores. I'm a goth so I don't buy loads from primark but what I do has always lasted and washed well. Their tights last ages too.

ClassicCola · 27/05/2020 20:12

I do buy from charity shops, but a lot of the clothes in them are from Primark anyway.

Laaalaaaa · 27/05/2020 20:12

@MorrisZapp of course they’ll have to adhere to social distancing guidelines but I stand by my statement that it’ll be a stampede once the doors open.
Have you been in a supermarket during lockdown? Very little social distancing being stuck to by the customers once in store. I believe primark customers will be even worse.

Echobelly · 27/05/2020 20:14

I can't face going into Primark because it's like a bloody zoo in there with clothes just flung all over the place. So they have been wise not reopening at the moment.

JeffreyJefferson · 27/05/2020 20:15

Have a look on PrettyLittleThing and I Saw It First xx

DoesMaryNotDrive · 27/05/2020 20:17

Do we know if Primark is paying its factory staff?

RedRed9 · 27/05/2020 20:18

Have you tried Depop?

LuluJakey1 · 27/05/2020 20:19

ebay have hundreds.

NothingIsGoing2GetBetterItsNot · 27/05/2020 20:19

wisest you're welcome Smile that was my main intention tbh!

To everyone who recommended everything above - they are bloody sold out!! I have looked!! I'm not kidding, I realise I am being slightly particular but I Just want some black shortish cotton blend elasticated shorts in a size 12 but I just can't find any online... I know primark is not the best quality (although I love their jeggings for comfyness, and their trainer socks are amazing) but their major benefits right note is that they will at least have bloody stock as they can't sell out online!

I don't necessarily Want cheap, just... There! 🤷‍♀️

Phoebesgift · 27/05/2020 20:23

There's loads of super cheap online clothing retailers. You don't need Primark. Their stuff is shit and the pricing is creeping up.

Whattodowhattodooo · 27/05/2020 20:25

I don't particularly buy stuff for myself there but kids clothes are excellent. 5 year old and 10 month old here... What they do to their clothes/how quickly they grow, I refuse to pay lots (unless special occasion). Primark is amazing to kit them out all year round. They seriously need summer stuff now so hope they open soon 🤞

Healthyandhappy · 27/05/2020 20:25

I ended up ordering a rain jacket from bo hoo.com have u been on their

apples24 · 27/05/2020 20:25

I sincerely hope Primark never opens again.
