Today stats

2405 confirmed cases (with more testing)

118 deaths

Two weeks ago (so a Sunday when figures are lower)

3534 cases

268 deaths

Things are improving? Even two weeks after an expected peak (due to VE Day).

We are getting there?

Yes @Tigresswoods and now the packed beaches spike "threat" is also passing.

It's getting better and better @Orangeblossom78, maybe we will see single figures by the end of July?

I'm hoping that's the way!

Now we will have the corona-moaners calling people shopping today "idiots", they'll cause a second spike blah blah!

We had it for people queuing in their cars for McDonald's, not my cup of tea but they're certainly not causing a second spike, they're contained in their cars.

I hope it is, but still must never forget how badly the government has acted.

I think there's room for optimism in the UK, but I'm concerned about the prospect of people traveling again. I'm getting so many emails from airlines encouraging me to book flights/holidays.

We may be getting things under control in the UK, but there were about 140K new cases reported worldwide yesterday. If people start moving around and relaxing their guard, it will spread again. Iran is already having a second wave.

Well I won’t be going to Iran so not too worried about that .
I would happily travel to Europe though .
I’d very much like my US holiday this August to be cancelled as it’s a massive clusterfuck over there

Depending on who else would ‘happily travel to Europe’ (Russians, Brazilians, Indians etc) possibly via third country, simply being in a European airport may put you at risk of infection. This is precisely why the virus spread so far and wide in the first place.

Unless people avoid travel until infection rates have died down everywhere - the threat of a second wave will remain.

Fluffybutter · 15/06/2020 12:49

Yeah I get that but I’m not really that worried about the virus anymore .
I’m more worried about what seems to be civil unrest in American at the moment ,coupled with the increase of the virus .
If I was to travel to Europe then it would be to a villa where it’s just us and we can cook our own food etc..

Another drop in deaths and positive results and a drug that's effective in treating CV.

Keep positive, keep going!

Down to threat level 3. Definitely a good sign!
