Is this what life really is?

I'm sitting here wondering how many people are genuinely happy, living in suburbia with 2.5 kids, compulsory retirement age, doing a job that you have to commit to until you get your kids through university.

So the question is:
Is that generally what people are happy with, or are we doing what is expected of us

Life doesn't have to be that way necessarily. If you live in a developed country that is.

I always knew I didn't want that life. From very, very young. My family laughed it off, I was a "dreamer" etc. etc. but I shaped my life differently and made choices which meant I have the freedom to follow my passions. Still have the 2.5 DC so I conformed in some ways!

Life is what you make it. It sounds trite but IME l, and by viewing the lives of those around me, its very true.

I don't think that that is what the majority of us are doing?
And why 2.5 kids? Is it supposed to be an average?
I don't think that's the UK average.
Sorry you're bored - Change it.

The grass isn’t always greener. I have tried living abroad, travelling, running my own business, partying, being wild. But I discovered I am most content with a routine, a sense of balance, being a mother and having a secure job with a regular income. I am not compromising by settling down, it is the opposite. I have found peace!
