To ask what you really really want now that you can't have it!

I probably have a McDonalds meal maybe 2 to 3 times per year (usually when we are on holiday). So the chances are I wouldn't have had one in the past 6 weeks anyway. But all I can think about is how much I want a Big Mac. In normal life, I drive past a McDonalds or 2 most times a day, and they barely even register. Now, as soon as I spot that big yellow M, I just start salivating. Is it because they are closed and I know I can't have one?

So I was wondering what other things people aren't normally that fussed about, but really really want now that they can't have them!!

I'd quite like a sausage roll and cookie from greggs. I'd definitely like a G&T from a bar (home isn't the same)

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 03/05/2020 11:47

I want to go and work in the office, rather than working from home Sad. As soon as I get the faintest inkling that the office is open, I'm out the door Smile

Tigger001 · 03/05/2020 11:48

To have my family and friends around and give them a big hug.

Take my son swimming, but can't see that for some time yet.

formerbabe · 03/05/2020 11:49

I'd like to have a mooch round primark and pop to the supermarket without queuing up.

I'd like to get my kids a McDonalds just because I'm fed up of constantly cooking.

formerbabe · 03/05/2020 11:50

Definitely swimming as a pp said

HeartyGreenSalad · 03/05/2020 11:50

I want to go to a different supermarket rather than the one that's nearest
I know I can logically but in my head I feel like I'm doing my bit by not shopping around

GinDaddyRedux · 03/05/2020 11:50

To see my mother and father who are both on the "vulnerable" list according to their surgery.

From a more selfish perspective, my walk and weekly breakfast at the Ivy Cafe near me is being missed, but easily approximated at home

Carolduckingbaskin · 03/05/2020 11:51

A swim! I don’t go swimming that often at all, but really want to dive into a nice pool now that I can’t!
What I’m really missing though is someone else planning and cooking a meal - be it a restaurant m, or just going to someone else’s house for dinner. I’d like to eat something that I haven’t planned, shopped for etc.

ParkheadParadise · 03/05/2020 11:52

McChicken sandwich and fries from McDonald's.
Visit my local cafe for a full Scottish breakfast.

frankie001 · 03/05/2020 11:53

I dreamt I had a mcds last night, but was disappointed it was a Big Mac and not a quarter pounder. Still feel hard done by.

NaturalBornWoman · 03/05/2020 11:53

I want to drive to work, spend the day there and maybe pop out to M&S for a salad for lunch, then go to the gym after work and then meet my friend for a drink and supper. Then go home and book a holiday online.

Bluewavescrashing · 03/05/2020 11:53

To go to the beach

Lilyamna · 03/05/2020 11:54

Fish and chips from a chippy

LakieLady · 03/05/2020 11:55
  1. A pint in a pub
  2. A haircut
  3. a pedicure
  4. fish and chips from the chippy
Lemondropsandgumdrops · 03/05/2020 11:57

Mickey Mouse waffles you get at Disney resorts. The really thick ones, with loads of syrup. I’ve been googling where I can find a Mickey Mouse waffle maker and although there’s lots of options in America, it seems impossible to find one here (that isn’t £300). It’s all I’ve thought about for about 4 days. No idea why I even thought of them, but now I can’t stop. I’m also pregnant so not sure if that’s causing the crazy Grin

MrsDrudge · 03/05/2020 11:57

A hug from my eldest daughter who is shielding, and my younger who lives abroad.
And now I’ve made myself cry.

ChazP · 03/05/2020 11:58

So much!!
But the top thing for me - every week after my kids’ swimming lessons we go to a cafe that does the best pancakes in the world. With yoghurt and homemade fruit compote. So light and fluffy. I miss it SO much! My stomach is rumbling just thinking about them!

Kingjarvis · 03/05/2020 11:58

A drink in the pub

Maybelatte · 03/05/2020 11:59

I miss fish and chips from the local chippy.

LakieLady · 03/05/2020 12:03

@HeartyGreenSalad, I've been feeling guilty about going to a big supermarket 9 miles away, but the 3 in town are all small and there's no chance of getting anything like all we want in just one of them (9 miles is the next nearest).

It feels wrong, but I figure there's less risk of transmission by going to one shop instead of 2 or 3.

It's also virtually on the coast, so by driving an extra half-mile, we can have a walk along the beach.

BrandoraPaithwaite · 03/05/2020 12:03

I used to commute a long way every thurs to work 10-3 in another office.

I miss the lovely long train ride. It was always a nice quiet, new train and I always got a table seat. I'd take a coffee and the timing was just right for a WhatsApp chat with close friend living in Australia.

I knew at the time it was lovely but now I really miss it! Toddler and WFH madness currently.

SerenDippitty · 03/05/2020 12:04

What I’m really missing though is someone else planning and cooking a meal - be it a restaurant m, or just going to someone else’s house for dinner. I’d like to eat something that I haven’t planned, shopped for etc.

We had a meal over zoom with friends who live nearby, we both cooked something and left half on each other’s doorsteps. It was nice.

Grumpbum123 · 03/05/2020 12:05

I want to see my mum and a wagamamas oh and a mr whippy by the sea

Redcliff · 03/05/2020 12:06

A Starbucks latte - instant isn't cutting it.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 03/05/2020 12:06

Wagamamas beef chilli ramen

Watermelon slices from M&S

Dog walks with my best friend - we meet once a week for a 10 mile walk and put the world to rights

Taking the DC canoeing - it's our thing and we all miss it despite me never having thought I'd miss a smelly bike-filled canal in my life
