To ask what you really really want now that you can't have it!

I probably have a McDonalds meal maybe 2 to 3 times per year (usually when we are on holiday). So the chances are I wouldn't have had one in the past 6 weeks anyway. But all I can think about is how much I want a Big Mac. In normal life, I drive past a McDonalds or 2 most times a day, and they barely even register. Now, as soon as I spot that big yellow M, I just start salivating. Is it because they are closed and I know I can't have one?

So I was wondering what other things people aren't normally that fussed about, but really really want now that they can't have them!!

Pie, mash and liquor with white pepper and chilli vinegar.

maddy68 · 03/05/2020 18:26

A cuddle off my daughter (she lives in Spain )

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 03/05/2020 18:27

The dentist. I broke a tooth Friday evening and am having to sit it out until they open tomorrow. Fingers crossed they will give me an appointment.
Otherwise my kids really need to see a hairdresser. As could I. That's definitely first on our lists when lockdown gets eased - hairdresser, eyebrows, eyelashes and nails

Hellokittymania · 03/05/2020 18:29

To see my family, and to sit outside in the sunshine with my coffee at Starbucks.

I would love to go swimming too. There is a live cam from a beach in Thailand, and even though they’re in quarantine too, the beach is totally quiet and you can hear the waves on the birds. It’s lovely, and sometimes I’ve put on that when I’m trying to fall asleep…

EssentialHummus · 03/05/2020 18:30

To drop my toddler off at nursery and have lunch at Sheekey’s, sitting at the bar, with plenty of oysters and champagne. And then a slightly drunken mooch through the West End.

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 03/05/2020 18:35

A pint in a pub. And also a bag of salad which I obviously could get but isn't really essential for popping out atm and we keep forgetting when DH goes to to a big shop.

Bienentrinkwasser · 03/05/2020 18:36

I miss my parents so much.
And my in laws actually.
I want some Japanese food. Specifically the little pickled bits you get.
I’d like some tapas too.
I want to go and sit in a coffee shop and watch the world go by. And have a (cold) coffee that is mostly flavoured syrup and whipped cream.
And I reeeeeeeally need a haircut.

A salon blowdry / root touch up and eyebrow tint would be my treat . Also get back to dance and Pilates classes - can do them online but its not the same .
Still it'll all happen sometime .

letmethinkaboutitfornow · 03/05/2020 19:42

Newbie1999 · 03/05/2020 20:03

@Hellokittymania Can you share the link? Thanks!

lonelySam · 03/05/2020 20:10

@itsgoodtobehome you'll hate me :) but I live in the NL and lots of things ar eopwn. I have been craving McDonald for ages and I had a cheeseburger today on the way home back from a walk :)

lonelySam · 03/05/2020 20:16

What I miss:
Getting my eyebrows done
Going to see my family on the weekend - I cannot hop on the plane as there are no planes. I can drive but I would have to be two weeks under strict quarantine when I arrive.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 03/05/2020 20:21

I want to go and stay in a premier inn and have a lovely night away with DH.

I miss that so much, it was my salvation from work stress and now my stress is off the scale, no nights away😢

And a mooch around Marks and Spencer.

And a walk along any other promenade but the one I live near. I'm fed up of the same seafront walk.

Goonergirl14 · 03/05/2020 20:32

Get a haircut
Take my DC'S to the beach and get them Happy Meals
Go swimming
Primark to reopen as my DC's need new pyjamas
Go to a big supermarket again

cricketmum84 · 03/05/2020 20:53

Swimming here too. I so miss the water!

Theredjellybean · 03/05/2020 20:59

I want a hug from my dad.

unhappyworkingmum · 03/05/2020 23:16

To see my Mum and give her a big hug
To have an empty house for a few hours
To not have to pick up toys every 5 seconds
To go out dancing
For my husband to move out (wanted that before lockdown, fat chance now...)

Titsywoo · 03/05/2020 23:24

Our local fish and chip shop is open. They've put in a screen between the staff and customers and only 1 person is allowed in the shop at a time but it works fine (you order by phone first).

I really want a nice dinner out and to go for drinks with my friends. But more than that I want to wander around London which is my happy place.

Whatdayisit2 · 03/05/2020 23:27

Pedicure
Buying stuff for house and garden
Seeing friends and family
Being alone

bogbabe · 03/05/2020 23:27

A game of squash
A shag
To see my parents.
Meal / drinks out

Not necessarily in that order!
