So the Beeb has to save a bit of cash any suggestions

mine are as follows

Stop sending out news reporters and their crew everywhere to report from ie the coast when there is a gale or outside a hospital when someone important is being treated

Sack Steve Wright who earns £500k a year and his sycophants

Dont broadcast all night stop at 1 am and restart at 530 am

Cabinfever10 · 30/04/2020 10:39

Get rid of all sport and reality TV

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 30/04/2020 10:39

Get rid of Gary Lineker.

tonkatruck · 30/04/2020 10:40

stop paying charlie from casualty the 400k a year he earns!!

thegcatsmother · 30/04/2020 10:41

Keep Steve Wright and ditch Lineker. Is BBC3 worth keeping?

billysboy · 30/04/2020 10:42

Surely they could put a pay cap of £100k and stop people being paid in to ltd companies etc

OP posts:
JKScot4 · 30/04/2020 10:43

Cut all the salaries, Steve Wright £500,000??
Fuck me that’s ridiculous.

LaurieMarlow · 30/04/2020 10:44

Allow me to pay for iPlayer (I’m outside U.K.) which I would be delighted to do.

Guttersnipe · 30/04/2020 10:44

Definitely cut the salaries of any presenter who is earning 6 figures. Seriously, their work, no matter how consumate they are, is not worth more than a brain surgeon's. The same applies to actors.

Hingeandbracket · 30/04/2020 10:45

Agree with all so far, also.

Can local radio - we don't need a local source for the music and presenters Radio 2 rejected.

Stop all the stupid cooking and dancing shite - we don't need that.

Just to add to the Lineker thing - there are thousands of ex-footballers who would be excellent pundits and cost a fraction and do a better job. I don't find him personally objectionable, but they could save a lot by replacing him.

LaurieMarlow · 30/04/2020 10:45

stop paying charlie from casualty the 400k a year he earns!!

Grin

I wanna know who Charlie’s agent is.

Reginabambina · 30/04/2020 10:45

Start advertising?

Hingeandbracket · 30/04/2020 10:46

and stop people being paid in to ltd companies etc
That actually saves the BBC money.

NailsNeedDoing · 30/04/2020 10:46

Get rid of Wimbledon and let people pay to watch it if they want to, same as with other sports.

Stop paying celebrities to read stories for children who don’t recognise them anyway.

Hingeandbracket · 30/04/2020 10:47

Start advertising?

They ready do - I am sick of hearing about Peter Crouch and his shit podcast all over the BBC

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 30/04/2020 10:47

Should be very easy to do on salary bill alone. Stop sending reporters out and just deliver the news would be a huge saving too plus better for the environment.

fivesecondrule · 30/04/2020 10:48

Staff pay review has to be top surely- I can never understand why they pay so much to certain presenters/ actors as if they are scared they'll run off to ITV. There'll always be other fresh, likeable, incredibly talented people desperate for their break that'd happily be paid on a more reasonable scales.

TidyDancer · 30/04/2020 10:49

Axe Mrs Browns Boys and Laura Kuenssberge. Lineker is alright but for that money I could wave him off. Jack Monroe can do one, I doubt they pay her much but whatever it is is too much so they can make a small saving there.

z0fl0ra · 30/04/2020 10:49

Stop having people pay for a TV license and just get adverts, give people the option to sign up on iPlayer for a premium account with no ads

BBC has lost its way. The model of a licence no longer works. The TV content gets worse and worse . Impartiality has flown out of the window.
There are no decent dramas made.
Many people pay for Netflix and Amazon Prime , Sky etc and rarely watch BBC but have to pay the licence and are CRIMINALISED if they default. Come On !

fivesecondrule · 30/04/2020 10:52

BBC do seem to have lots of different things going on too don't they- how many bloody radio and TV stations do they actually need. We live in an era of demand experiences- surely they don't need to keep every channel running 24/7 just streamline them and let people access content as they need it.

Sparklingbrook · 30/04/2020 10:52

Get rid of anything except for Greg James.

coldwarenigma · 30/04/2020 10:52

1 news reader, they don't need a team.

As someone else said 'on the spot weather/news' team.

100k max wage for execs/actors/presenters

scrap reality TV and endless 'game shows'

concentrate on quality not quantity.

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 30/04/2020 10:52

Actually CBeebies and cBBC are the best childrens progs

LaurieMarlow · 30/04/2020 10:53

There are no decent dramas made.

That’s total bollocks.
