So the Beeb has to save a bit of cash any suggestions

mine are as follows

Stop sending out news reporters and their crew everywhere to report from ie the coast when there is a gale or outside a hospital when someone important is being treated

Sack Steve Wright who earns £500k a year and his sycophants

Dont broadcast all night stop at 1 am and restart at 530 am

Gabby Logan £300,000!?

She’s a former gymnast who now presents. Why so much?

PerfidiousAlbion · 02/05/2020 18:16

Mishal Husain on the other hand is worth every penny.

Why is there so little educational stuff on the BBC? I'm talking about Christmas Lectures standard stuff. Why only once a year, as a novelty?
I'm intelligent, love learning, but haven't got the money or time to throw down on formal education, I'd love a series on physics or medicine.
People have to decide on their life path often without much of an idea of the 'nuts and bolts' of the subject.

If we had a wider knowledge, just on a conversational level, we could better advise our teens on everything!!

Charge overseas users for access to BBC programming. Lived abroad for years and would have paid a lot for access to R4. It's only when you don't have it that you realise what an incredible news and current affairs service we have in the BBC.

PersonaNonGarter · 03/05/2020 08:24

Find different talent. Pay them less.

leckford · 03/05/2020 08:28

Stop Eastenders, crap and huge cost. Monty Don did his own filming for the latest Gardner’s World and it was excellent, perhaps they don’t need so many highly paid staff.

I watch very few programs but pay the fee, keep GW, the Repair Shop, Springwatch and the history/archeology programmes and I am not bothered about the rest.

As I said upthread I'd pay for access to the BBC Player. I live in Ireland and we don't pay a licence fee to BBC as we have our own state tv and license fee.

BertieBotts · 03/05/2020 15:25

You can access BBC radio online in all countries now, though. It's only the TV iPlayer which is georestricted.

LadyEloise · 07/05/2020 09:18

It's the tv I'd like.

BertieBotts · 07/05/2020 09:27

Me too, but someone said they wanted radio 4!

DollyDoneMore · 07/05/2020 11:29

I was listening to Radio4 this morning and they had some kind of chat show on. Why? EVERY other station also has people chatting inanely for hours on end!

You must have a different radio to me.

Almost every station I hear is banging out endless “feel good anthems” or “smooth favourites” with very little talk.
