Have just been watching the PE with him after being recommended it and maybe he’s having an off day but oh my, AIBU to ask if he seems so moany and whiny, not to mention he seems so out of breath. I’ve not seen him before - is this usual for him? I found the exercises ok so would watch again if this was just an off day

I haven't exercised in six years, since an illness and accident scuppered my health. I still need a mobility scooter to 'walk' around the block. But I watch JW with my 13 year old, and I join in with what I can (mostly the upper body stuff, but I've found if I'm careful getting up and down, I can do some of the crunches). Because it's only 30 seconds at a time and I can sit and rest in between, I find the pain and fatigue doesn't kick my butt afterwards like regular exercise does. We haven't done every day by any means, but I'm really grateful to him.

ilovemygirls · 28/04/2020 18:23

fivesecondrule Yes, the Nicky shoutouts have been doing our heads in too!!
I record it & we do it whenever we get up... we don’t take a break in between exercises. Just keep going, makes it go faster. We also fast forward the break, beginning & end!
Definitely feel better for doing it.... although I’ve skipped today. Will do it before bed though!
I feel it’s part of the lockdown memories now!!!
I’m sure he’s had enough now though... !!

lakeswimmer · 28/04/2020 18:23

Me and DS2 do it everyday. It's given us a bit of routine and gets some exercise in at the start of the day. We have't really got bored because you only do 30 seconds of each exercise and we like the trivia questions Smile

Grumpbum123 · 28/04/2020 18:25

We like cosmic yoga instead

Mumoftwoterrors · 28/04/2020 18:34

He was wearing a suit yesterday!

MaryST7 · 28/04/2020 18:44

He seems to be 'marmite' - people love him or hate him. I thought he was really annoying for the first few days but have grown to really like him and my daughter loves the workouts. Great energy, fun, but best of all, sincere and with his heart in the right place. A good guy! And I'm definitely getting fitter 😆

minipie · 28/04/2020 18:44

I think what he’s doing is brilliant - especially with a dodgy wrist. And he is clearly making an effort to keep it interesting with the spot the difference, trivia quiz etc.

Unfortunately the DCs really don’t like it... we have shifted to Les Mills Kids and Cosmic Yoga... but I still admire him a lot for sticking with it.

Areyouactuallyseriousrightnow · 28/04/2020 19:13

I think what he’s doing is brilliant. It gives structure to the endless (endless) days, he mixes it up constantly to keep it fresh, and the fact he’s kept it going this long and is raising money at the same time is admirable. Plenty ‘celebrity’ types doing naff all or meaningless vanity gestures.
To be honest the kids sometimes find it hard, and I’ve certainly never squatted so much in my life, but we’re continuing to support it because It’s generally fun, helping to keep us fit, and just feels like a part of our life now for better or worse!

Barney60 · 28/04/2020 19:31

nope cant stand it or tbh any celebrity workout. Would rather go online and follow a professional.

Rainbo83 · 28/04/2020 19:41

Lots of shout outs to viewers on the day we did it. So my DS found a tai chi one he preferred and has also got me doing tik tok dances which he thinks is hilarious.

OptimisticSix · 28/04/2020 19:44

I found he talked too much and my kids got bored. They prefer walking with Leslie Sanson or even a bit of Jillian Michaels (though I think she might be trying to kill me)

Figamol · 28/04/2020 20:32

Yeh mine got bored after 2 days - no music, too much talking, and exercises not very varied. Still - I think he's a champion for the effort and really respect he's dedication!

Coulddowithanap · 28/04/2020 20:35

The fact that he usually looks knackered is the reason I love his workouts. It makes him seem like a normal person rather than the usual fitness video celebs who don't look like they break a sweat.

Don't like that when I do them I can't walk for days but then maybe I just need to do them more!

He is a professionalConfused

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 28/04/2020 20:48

I need to get back into it. DH is decorating the living room so I'll start again when he's finished. If there's too much jumping up and down for me I'll march on the spot for a bit!

Byebye1to1 · 28/04/2020 21:23

Can’t believe I need to respond to this. Done it every day with my kids. He’s putting on an act. Just as teacher do every day. He pretends it’s hard so that his audience from 3 year olds to 93 year olds keep motivated. I bet he could do the plank for 30 minutes if required. Keep up !!!

geekone · 28/04/2020 22:18

He is brilliant. He’s acting tired for the kids showing them it’s ok to be knackered when exercising. Today he wanted them to be mindful. How do you feel before and after. Quiz's are also brilliant and distracting I do half a week and my DH the other half we have also did 7 days of sweat I did it last week and it was bloody hard. He’s still funny in those but not the same. He’s trying to make it interesting. Why anyone would feel they need to come on and complain about him on here is beyond me, but is AIBU so I shouldn’t be surprised by unnecessary vitriol. Damned if you do and damned if you don’t.
Keep
Going
Joe!!

Thickmuthafuckers · 28/04/2020 22:23

I think he’s bloody fabulous Smile

likeafishneedsabike · 28/04/2020 22:30

He’s doing an amazing job. Definitely a decent human and I will miss him when we are no longer on lockdown. All credit to the guy.

Plurabellicose · 28/04/2020 22:57

Gosh. I can’t be the only one on Mn who thinks he’s ghastly self-promoting eye-candy who’s prepared to monetise absolutely any aspect of his life to grow the JW brand. He reminds me of Jamie Oliver at his most puppyish and annoying.

LaurieMarlow · 28/04/2020 23:03

Well you’re certainly vastly outnumbered on this thread.

However, while I totally disagree with your assessment, he is reminiscent of JO, agreed.

Plurabellicose · 28/04/2020 23:08

@LaurieMarlow, I will admit he has nicer hair than JO. But I will admit it only in my best Madame Orly voice...

LaurieMarlow · 28/04/2020 23:14

He has GREAT hair Grin

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 28/04/2020 23:24

I think he is bit of a marmite, isn't he

Wincher · 28/04/2020 23:24

We do it every morning in term time - it's good to have a fixed time by which everyone has to be up/dressed/breakfasted. Yesterday's wasn't great at all, it is patchy, but in general it's good. At first I was moaning it was too easy because I was used to my circuits gym with 3 minute circuits and then 30 seconds rest but I'm used to it now! I do still make the kids come and run round the garden in the two minute break though. I thought today's quiz was great, questions to challenge the whole family. I doubt it was actually compiled by a 6 year old though!
