It tastes like petrol to me.

I don't like plain gin, I do like flavoured gins though.

fedupwiththisshitnow · 24/04/2020 20:36

Nope, it's vile.

LadyRochfordsHoickedGusset · 24/04/2020 20:37

Should add have never tasted petrol but going by the smell...

So flavoured petrol?

FuzzyPuffling · 24/04/2020 20:37

I don't like gin either.

Thingsdogetbetter · 24/04/2020 20:37

Hated gin and tonic for years. Discovered it's tonic that's crap. Gin and anything is fab!

MrsTerryPratchett · 24/04/2020 20:38

Boo. Hooray.

That's the issue with matters of taste. There's no 'argument' either way. Taste is taste.

HeresMe · 24/04/2020 20:39

Most of new drinkers of gin don't like gin, that's why there is all these flavoured ones.

It's the current fad helped by it is quick to make as doesn't need ageing like other spirits, and is basically vodka and juniper.

Sonichu · 24/04/2020 20:40

It's like drinking perfume. Disgusting stuff.

AnneLovesGilbert · 24/04/2020 20:40

You like it or you don’t. No drama. I love it. Champagne, on the other hand, is rank.

lotusbell · 24/04/2020 20:40

I love the smell, can't stand the taste, it's just bitter and I don't like bitter

Curiosity101 · 24/04/2020 20:40

It tastes like petrol to me.
Are you drinking it neat?

I guess Gin is an acquired taste - like all none sweetened alcohol really. I like it, it's fresh and crisp and completely dry, but there was probably a time when I didn't like it. Either way, I always mix it with tonic and sometimes chuck a slice of grapefruit in.

Do you like things like grapefruit and citrus?

MrSheenandMe · 24/04/2020 20:41

Slightly bitter, grown up taste. Clear, clean refreshing. Love it and have done for years

LaurieMarlow · 24/04/2020 20:41

It’s refreshing. Tart. Not over sweet.

Dotty1970 · 24/04/2020 20:42

It's like perfume to me 🤮, and perfume from the pound shop not channel no.5

woodencoffeetable · 24/04/2020 20:42

it tastes like medicine.
I like it with lenon balm cordiak & sparkling water.

AsCoolAsLangCleg · 24/04/2020 20:42

Tastes nice and contains alcohol?

RealLifeHotWaterBottle · 24/04/2020 20:42

I like it, but cant stand it with tonic. The first time I had it without tonic was a revelation

Bubblysqueak · 24/04/2020 20:42

For me it's the tonic I don't like. I tried gin with lemonade and really liked it.

Dotty1970 · 24/04/2020 20:43

*Chanel

wowfudge · 24/04/2020 20:43

It's refreshing and not sickly. I've just finished a lovely gin and tonic. It's worth not going for cheap diet tonic. If you think it tastes like petrol you might like a lighter flavoured gin and more tonic.

BertieBotts · 24/04/2020 20:43

I never used to like it, until somebody made it for me with loads of lemon/lime and it's the combination of bitter and sour which is lovely.

You do have to like those flavours though - if you prefer latte to black coffee and grapes over goosberries, you're probably not likely to enjoy gin.

x2boys · 24/04/2020 20:44

Not keen on dry Gin but Lidl,s pink Gin is very nice imo, but you know different strokes for different folks etc I don't like Tea and coffee but I'm aware many people do.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 24/04/2020 20:44

Getting the right tonic really makes a difference. Having said that DH got a bottle of Chapel Down gin and one of their vodka a few weeks ago. Have to say, thought I didn’t like vodka but I’m enjoying that more tbh.

bloodyhellsbellsx · 24/04/2020 20:44

The normal and pink gins taste like hairspray but I recently tried a palma violet one and a unicorn one and really liked both! Had it with lemonade tho not tonic which i believe is against hardcore ginners beliefs Gin

Slith · 24/04/2020 20:44

Because it tastes nice?
