Intensive care at the crossroads of life and death, 3 days later suited and booted and giving speeches. Fishy or what?

He's trying his best give him a break. He can never win against judgmental people like you 🙄

edwinbear · 14/04/2020 14:55

I'm personally very pleased to see him out of hospital and recuperating. YABVU.

DonnaDarko · 14/04/2020 14:55

I don't think he needed ICU, I'm sure it was more of a precaution.

MorrisZapp · 14/04/2020 14:56

Get this guff deleted

AmelieTaylor · 14/04/2020 14:56

🙄🙄🙄

It's a shame he hasn't learnt his lesson about doing too much, too soon. But I've no idea what exactly you think is 'fishy'?

LoafEater · 14/04/2020 14:56

He never had it.

Fatasfooook · 14/04/2020 14:57

Give him a break? Are you joking? He voted against a wage rise for the nhs 2 years ago. Then cheered when the vote won. His crap approach to the pandemic had resulted in deaths in the tens of thousands, numbers still rising, he fakes an illness to “ride from the dead” at Easter. He laughed and called the efforts to source respirators “operation last gasp”
He’s doing his best is he? This country astounds me with what the people accept as someone’s best.

Oh, for pity's sake. Take off the foil hat and get a cup of tea.

SylvanianFrenemies · 14/04/2020 14:57

Not a fan of his in any form.

However, suspect that the filmed speech was to show that he's "ok". Doubt it is business as usual. He's probably still in bed in his jamas most of the time.

He never had the virus, he’s never told the truth yet, anyone who actually believes this is a bigger fool than Johnson.

BertiesLanding · 14/04/2020 14:59

This is the problem with lockdown - it over-excites a colourful imagination.

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 14/04/2020 14:59

Perhaps significantly, we have had no authorised medical briefings on his condition and recovery, such as we saw when Reagan was shot.

Such explanations could only come with the consent of the patient.

He says "I nearly died," but his doctors maintain professional silence.

Macncheeseballs · 14/04/2020 14:59

Was that to let boris back in

chunkyrun · 14/04/2020 14:59

Yep not convinced by the whole loveable oaf routine. Anyone who goes for a position of power like that is shrewd and calculating

Macncheeseballs · 14/04/2020 14:59

*to preston

oreoxoreo · 14/04/2020 15:00

There was an article in Guardian saying he needed 4 litres of oxygen as opposed to the average of 15 litres per person used in ICU.
Says it all to me.

LagunaBubbles · 14/04/2020 15:00

Always thought he was going to be turned into some sort of martyr by some after this.

MagnoliaJustice · 14/04/2020 15:01

This type of thread belongs on Above Top Secret, not Mumsnet.

You're being silly. And I'm an NHS nurse working through the pandemic, no payrise for 11 years, and no love for Mr Johnson.

TheClown · 14/04/2020 15:01

I would have preferred to see him in a cashmere onesie (from the waist up), because I have no doubt he was feeling like absolute shit & being filmed was the last thing he wanted.

I hope he got changed straight away & curled up on the sofa with some maltesers and full fat coke a herbal tea.

I hope he feels better soon.

oreoxoreo · 14/04/2020 15:02

I think, using health as a reason, he will wave the politics goodbye whilst still the nation's hero and will let someone else to pick up the consequences.

Mamamia456 · 14/04/2020 15:02

And how do you know he didn't have the virus. What about the 2 nurses he named as saving his life?

LastTrainEast · 14/04/2020 15:02

You're right. He had special medicine from the lizards who govern earth. You can have it too. Just phone up your GP and tell them you're a lizard.

Mittens030869 · 14/04/2020 15:03

He didn't go back to work, he went away to rest and recover at Checkers. He was just showing his face to confirm that he was out of hospital and had made a good recovery. I think the plan is for him to be off work for a couple of weeks, and if my own experience is anything to go by, it will take that long for him to get over it.

VivienScott · 14/04/2020 15:04

The nurse who treated him is a specialist in ECMO which is a bit like dialysis for the lungs. It’s how they got away with saying he didn’t need ventilating. The fact he’s off indefinitely says he’s probably sustained some long term damage. There were lies from the beginning when they said he was only admitted for kidney and liver function tests, blood tests don’t require hospitalisation.
I think he was very very poorly, probably given a shot of something to get him in front of the camera when needed.
No one wears a suit when they’re off work recovering from serious illness, he’s probably doing it as a show of strength to the nation.
I also think he wouldn’t be away from government at a time of crisis unless it was absolutely necessary. I wouldn’t be surprised if he resigned through I’ll health after this.
