Intensive care at the crossroads of life and death, 3 days later suited and booted and giving speeches. Fishy or what?

Just had my comment removed as didn't want to out myself on my little rant Grin
Take 2 lol

YABU.
I honestly think some people are losing the plot over this whole coronovirus.
Usually rational, sane people are subscribing to tinfoil hat theories, and so fucking negative and angry.
I'm seeing it on FB and RL too - think I'm going to have to go on a hiding/deleting spree tonight.
It's not healthy.

MaxNormal · 14/04/2020 16:08

@CandyLeBonBon that did give me pause - the Economist is hardly the bastion of radical left-wingism or conspiracy theories.

Easilyanxious · 14/04/2020 16:09

Of course he has it you only had to look at the guy to see he was ill
He's not fully back at work and like when reported walking the other day was in his grounds so effectively his garden .

sunglasses123 · 14/04/2020 16:11

So, all the Doctors mentioned and the nurses, they were all 'in' on it. Dont be so silly!

Snowflakes1122 · 14/04/2020 16:12

He genuinely looks rough though. I have no doubt he was seriously ill. I wouldn’t question the ethics of the NHS staff treating him in ICU-they don’t admit people to play a part in a political game

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 14/04/2020 16:13

This is not someone who was at death’s door a few days ago. Something incredibly fishy about the whole business.^”
Has it said anywhere that he was at death's door, though? Or is that yet another hyperbolic opinion?
Yes, he went to ICU but sure I read that it was a precautionary measure.
If he's been released, surely he'll want to make sure on showing his face that he looks at least a little bit in the land of the living?
I mean, WTF do people want here?
If he'd have stayed in bed, people'd be calling him a lazy arse and the least he can do is address the nation or whatever.
He gets up and shows his face, "you don't look poorly enough, you faker!" lol
Can't fucking win Grin
And no, I'm not a Boris or even a Tory fan for that matter, but this is more than politics - it's the tin foil hat thinking which is just as dangerous imo.

CandyLeBonBon · 14/04/2020 16:14

Quite Max - I too would probably have dismissed it as conspiracy but it did give me pause to think because of the source of the article.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 14/04/2020 16:14

Messed up the bold there oops

Fatasfooook · 14/04/2020 16:15

Boris himself said “it could have gone either way” implying that he was at the crossroads of life and death

And guess what? That tweet turned out to be ... a load of shit!

Chris Lockwood
@chrislockwd
I have deleted a tweet that cast doubt on whether Boris Johnson had been as seriously ill as reported. I withdraw my comment and apologise for the offence it has caused.

RuffleCrow · 14/04/2020 16:15

Yeah, I'm not buying any of it. He's a celebrated liar who said whatever he needed to say to make Brexit happen and as soon as that happened, covid-19 apparently strikes him down and we're expected to believe everything he says? Hmm

Easilyanxious · 14/04/2020 16:15

Some not very nice people around at the moment that's for sure . Also an amazing amount of budding scientists and Drs around as well . Unbelievable

CandyLeBonBon · 14/04/2020 16:15

Snowflakes. You don't go to ICU unless you're very poorly. I've been in HDU with sepsis before and ICU isn't a place you go 'just in case' so he'd have to be very seriously ill if that were the case.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 14/04/2020 16:17

And guess what? That tweet turned out to be ... a load of shit!

Shock No! Colour me surprised lol Grin
RuffleCrow · 14/04/2020 16:17

He always looks rough @Snowflakes1122 - that's his USP.

CendrillonSings · 14/04/2020 16:18

RuffleCrow

Yeah, I'm not buying any of it.

Are all the NHS nurses and doctors at St. Thomas’ - who include world-renowned respiratory consultants - in on the conspiracy too, or were they fooled by him?

Do tell. I can’t wait Grin

titchy · 14/04/2020 16:19

Boris himself said “it could have gone either way” implying that he was at the crossroads of life and death

Well it could for anyone couldn't it. You get worse and worse and worse and die. Or you get better.

I broke a bone many many years ago. It could have gone either way - I could have developed sepsis and gangrene and died. But I didn't, just had it fixed and plastered.

CandyLeBonBon · 14/04/2020 16:20

Cendrillon He deleted it presumably because of pressure to do so. He may or may not still hold those views. But felt compelled to delete it because he was told to do so.

I'm neutral on the subject but medics in China were hushed up. British governments have hushed up compromising information in the past and it's not beyond the realm of possibility that similar could happen now to turn the tide of opinion.

It's an interesting notion and no one should be naive enough to take any government purely at face value.

I am sure all is above board but understand why people would wonder otherwise.

Easilyanxious · 14/04/2020 16:20

Accusing nhs also of lying by saying this , he's not back at work he's back at home resting on Drs orders . I'm sure his Drs know what's best for him rather than a few on mn.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 14/04/2020 16:24

As a known - and proven - liar I try very hard not to believe anything he says because he's the oaf who cried wolf. Even if this is true, and he must have been unwell to have been given even a moment of ICU time, he'll unquestionably pop his own advantageous little spin on it and play it out for personal and political gain.

I don't ill wish him at all - if he was as unwell as has been reported then it's great he's recovered. But I also don't think it's sensible to take a liar's word for anything if you want the truth.

RuffleCrow · 14/04/2020 16:25

@CendrillonSings i don't know - i've never met them. Afaik they haven't really said anything - just not contradicted the official line.

VivienScott · 14/04/2020 16:29

@Inkpaperstars there was also use of ecmo in China, so it’s not an untested treatment. I think you can also remain conscious during it, rather than needing intubation as with ventilation or a face mask with cpap, meaning he could still communicate and so statements he was talking were not untrue.

CendrillonSings · 14/04/2020 16:29

i don't know - i've never met them. Afaik they haven't really said anything - just not contradicted the official line.

So an entire hospital full of medical experts is ... what? In on the conspiracy? Gagged by the Government? So incompetent that they can’t tell a politician is faking?

We’re meant to be self-isolating from the coronavirus, not from reality... Wink

AnnofPeeves · 14/04/2020 16:34

There was an article in Guardian saying he needed 4 litres of oxygen as opposed to the average of 15 litres per person used in ICU.
Says it all to me.*

Presumably you'll be off to work in your local ITU with all the knowledge on oxygen flow rates you've now gleaned from The Guardian... Grin

titchy · 14/04/2020 16:36

Errr the medics haven't contradicted the official line because they haven't said anything. They haven't said anything because, you know, they don't breach patient confidentiality. Not because they're kow-towing to the party line, or because they're in on the conspiracy. Hmm
