Scary to think of Raab as acting PM!

crazydiamond222 · 06/04/2020 20:30

Mean length of stay is only 5 days so I guess we will know the outcome pretty soon.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 06/04/2020 20:31

It just made the National news over here too (Canada). Wishing him a speedy recovery.

Molliemoo10 · 06/04/2020 20:33

I really dislike him and everything he stands for but I don't wish death on him and hope he makes a speedy recovery.

User202004 · 06/04/2020 20:33

I'm really sorry to sound daft, but what does it mean exactly? Does it mean he's struggling to breathe and need a ventilator? I know what ICU stands for, does this mean he's really sick? Is a precaution because of his status, or properly serious? Sorry really not trying to sound like an idiot.

M0recakeplease · 06/04/2020 20:33

I thought I’d read it’s 50/50 for all in ICU. It must be very serious. I really hope he recovers, especially given his GF is expecting! ☹️

OffTheShelfElf · 06/04/2020 20:34

Yikes.

heidihigh · 06/04/2020 20:35

Wow. Whatever your political views, I think everyone is behind Boris at the min. Hope he recovers soon!

Healthyandhappy · 06/04/2020 20:35

Its viral load and hes around people alot so prob why hope hes ok

Wannabangbang · 06/04/2020 20:36

Horrible news, i hope he pulls through :(

orangejuicer · 06/04/2020 20:36

Twitter news said he's conscious and it's in case he needs a ventilator.

Politics aside it gave me a little sink in my stomach. Hope he pulls through.

MonaLisaDoesntSmile · 06/04/2020 20:36

The problem with ICU rates is that they admit people so late hat they are often too late to be saved. He may be lucky and if they start early (they daid it was precautionary, and he was not intubated yet), he will have a much higher chance of getting out of it hopefully.
Fingers crossed!

MinkowskisButterfly · 06/04/2020 20:36

@User202004 you've asked what I was wondering. Does ICU mean you are definitely at ventilator stage?

PixiePowered · 06/04/2020 20:37

I don't like the man but his children will be watching this all unfold from afar, and another child who may potentially never meet him. What a sad situation, as it is for everyone who has suffered because of this disease.

Leaannb · 06/04/2020 20:37

@Undecided91 Same way I lost a 3yo patient this morning to Covid

Healthyandhappy · 06/04/2020 20:37

He will have gone to itu because he isnt getting rid of c02 properly as it knocks resp system of he be on bipap which forces o2 in co2 out and if needed then will ventilate him.

Indella · 06/04/2020 20:37

@Undecided91 There are (at least) 2 strains of CoVid circulating. One is much more deadly than the other.

boli · 06/04/2020 20:39

Not definitely ventilated no on ITU could be on CPAP

Dollywilde · 06/04/2020 20:39

Terrifying. I’d never vote for the guy but wouldn’t wish this on anyone. Poor Carrie, I can’t imagine how she’s feeling. I hope he recovers soon and it’s a move based on an abundance of caution. Like him or not it’s a very grave development for the country.

Hagbeth · 06/04/2020 20:40

This has really hit me in the gut. I hope he’ll recover swiftly. FlowersSad

Zilla1 · 06/04/2020 20:41

I agree Boli, sky news 'close to a ventilator', so presume NIV rather than physical proximity.

Ponoka7 · 06/04/2020 20:41

@Undecided91, viral load makes a huge difference. If you have direct contact, as in body fluids, rather than transfered via a surface etc, you get a higher viral load. That's why it's so dangerous for Nursing Staff. But I don't think he made the right decision to put himself under so much stress.

BeenHereForAges · 06/04/2020 20:41

Awful news. I truely hope he will be ok.

Regretsandregrets · 06/04/2020 20:42

@User202004..it seems that he has significant involvement of his lungs and breathing might be affected. If things get worse ventilation is an option.

AlbusSeverusPotter13 · 06/04/2020 20:42

@Undecided91 viral load...the higher your viral load the higher your chance of getting seriously ill/dying. I’d bet Boris came across lots more people than Prince Charles did I’m the three weeks before they got symptoms. Hence why frontline staff are at a higher risk of dying than your average joe. Hence why hospitals are refusing to take patients until they are really ill, if they are exposed to a higher viral load their chances of recovery diminish.
