I do hope he gets well soon but I am confused that a few hours ago he was in good spirits . Must be a heck of a deterioration . Poor bojo

worlybear · 06/04/2020 20:25

Not fan of Boris but that's really rough.🤢

MrsT1405 · 06/04/2020 20:25

Not a fan but hope he gets better. Poor Carrie.

Stellamboscha · 06/04/2020 20:25

Why is this in AIBU?

ADreamOfGood · 06/04/2020 20:25

@Undecided91 perhaps Prince Charles is in good underlying health? He is quite lean for someone his age, and seems to spend a fair amount of time outdoors.
I imagine Boris eats and drinks more than is entirely necessary, has enormous amounts of stress, rarely goes outside or exercises, I mean when would he have chance?

BunnytheBee · 06/04/2020 20:25

Can someone explain how Boris is now in ICU but the Prince recovered so fast even though he is much older

The outcomes are not solely dependent on age obviously.

Children have died of this.

BabbleBee · 06/04/2020 20:26

@Undecided91 I’ve read that Boris has underlying health issues, and could also be to do with viral load maybe.

I send good wishes to Boris, and hope he’s back to good health soon. Maybe once he’s back in parliament all of this will show the value of the NHS and it’s a turning point in funding. But health first.

PerpetualCircle · 06/04/2020 20:26

He has handed over to Dominic Raab. Poor Carrie, she must be frantic.

Pimmsypimms · 06/04/2020 20:26

SadI hope he makes a quick recovery!
Am I right in thinking that ICU recovery rates for covid aren't that great?

TimeAintNothing · 06/04/2020 20:26

For the same reason that one if my children had chickenpox with half a dozen spots and no other symptoms while another was covered head to toe, had a fever, couldn't eat, and ended up hospitalised - viruses affect different people in different ways.

Some people will hardly be unwell at all and will bounce back quickly, others will be very unwell and will need medical support, some will sadly die, and others still will fall somewhere in-between. You don't know which person you will be unless you catch it.

Crazyhouse123 · 06/04/2020 20:26

I hope he gets better soon. It's very worrying and whatever you think of him it's not what we need right now.

cologne4711 · 06/04/2020 20:26

As a pp says it affects people differently and perhaps Boris' viral load was higher and he isn't as healthy as Charles despite being younger.

Nadine Dorres got it worse that her elderly mother did.

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 06/04/2020 20:26

Because the virus like any illness affects people differently, some die some don’t, some have symptoms and some are a symptomatic.

ShirleyPhallus · 06/04/2020 20:26

Wow, how awful.

I wonder if something like this needed to happen for people who already aren’t to take things seriously

MinkowskisButterfly · 06/04/2020 20:27

@Undecided91 I suspect Charles is actually fitter/healthier than Boris. Also doesn't have the same stresses to deal with (stress hormones can reduce immune system).

I really hope he pulls through. Sad

tulipsrus · 06/04/2020 20:27

Undecided- no-one can explain it- that’s the whole reason why the virus is so scary. It attacks indiscriminately.
If he’s been moved, maybe they’re just being extra cautious

BeijingBikini · 06/04/2020 20:27

Also Charles didn't have the stress of trying to run the country for 16 hours a day, he just farted about in his mansion

formerbabe · 06/04/2020 20:28

Horrible news...wishing him well

crazydiamond222 · 06/04/2020 20:28

Very worrying situation. There is only a 50% survival rate for icu patients.

Crazyhouse123 · 06/04/2020 20:28

Yeah you are right. Last figures I saw were about 50% but may be out of date now it changes so quickly. He is a middle aged overweight male and none of those things will be in his favour either unfortunately.

PenCreed · 06/04/2020 20:28

So who’s “running the country” given he claimed to be doing it from his sickbed?

Much as I despise him, I hope he recovers - awful for his family. And Carrie Symonds was ill herself, which must be really scary for her given her pregnancy.

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 06/04/2020 20:28

Terrible news. I hope that he is able to make a full recovery. I would hope that he's sensible enough to hand over to designated "next in charge" for a short while. They must have made plans for "next steps" in accordance with expected scenarios.

TheFutureMrsHardy · 06/04/2020 20:28

His immune system must be non existent with his stress levels and constant exhaustion.

I can't even begin to imagine how poor Carrie is feeling.

I really like Boris, and this was just awful to hear on the news.

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 06/04/2020 20:28

For those asking about the difference in Prince Charles’ case vs BJs this may be the viral load theory- potentially BJ has been exposed to a lot more of it in Parliament etc?

Fuck. I’m no fan and no Tory and I was very angry with everything that happened at the back end of last year with Brexit and the prorogation etc but this is awful, especially as he has children and another on the way. Hoping he has a speedy recovery.

Dreamersandwishers · 06/04/2020 20:29

Undecided- what’s your point?

This is just so sickening. I hope he recovers, & soon.
