@TeachesOfPeaches ooh hello neighbour! Nice to see the South East London contingent out in force Grin

Longwhiskers14 · 26/03/2020 21:46

GoatsDoRome Well if makes you happy to try to derail a thread that's about something positive and nice in a time when everyone's feeling low and scared, knock yourself out.

milliememum · 26/03/2020 21:48

Shout out to SE26, we nailed it!!!! Same time next week!!

Cunninglittlevixen · 26/03/2020 21:48

My dh also thought it was 'a bit cringe' but followed the rest of his family out and was really moved. Maybe push your boundaries a bit in these unprecedented times.

@ScarlettBlaize do you know what - it does achieve something... there are people in their homes, on their own, feeling shit right now. I live in a community which is pretty elderly and there were lots of sole elderly neighbours out on their doorsteps. It’s a moment of coming together which may just get them through this shit time.

Cunninglittlevixen · 26/03/2020 21:53

Agree youwon

Longwhiskers14 · 26/03/2020 21:54

ScarlettBlaize

It achieved nothing? Tell that to the NHS workers like this man's girlfriend who were profoundly moved by what happened tonight at a time when they're on their knees. If you think that's worthless then I feel sorry that you're so jaded and may I politely suggest that next time you bugger off to your own thread with all the other moaners and leave the rest of us to share our experiences of what was a great unifying moment.

@Youwonjane

Yes, it's the spirit of the thing that matters. It may have been someone's only human (distanced) contact during the day

OP posts:
Allaboardthemagicbus2020 · 26/03/2020 21:54

Also glad to see SE3 wasn't too posh to join in (only joking!)

OP posts:
ScarlettBlaize · 26/03/2020 21:54

@Youwonjane How exactly is it going to 'get them through this time'? Are you suggesting they would commit suicide if it were not for this? Or that it will somehow stop them from starving, or give them antiviral protection?

Still, at least you're admitting it's for the benefit of the people doing it and has absolutely fuck all to do with helping the NHS or those working there.

I am an NHS worker

To all those of you who voted for the Tory party at the last election, a party that has for a long time tried to destroy the NHS and only realise our worth now that there is a serious pandemic afoot,

and to all of you who were clogging up the beaches, the Lake District, the parks in London etc without a care in the world last weekend

I don’t want to hear your hypocritical clapping out the window for the NHS workers tonight, so PLEASE DON’T

Seriously ScarlettBlaize, stop dragging down the thread that was really lovely until you came along and pissed all over it.

Apirateslifeforme · 26/03/2020 21:56

I didnt go out, I thought everyone would think I was a right knob head out in the close clapping on my own. So when I heard the clapping I was surprised, and so proud, and felt like a knob for not going out because I'd put myself back in my pjs.

It was lovely to hear so many clapping.

Inkpaperstars · 26/03/2020 21:57

Wave to all my SE London neighbours 👋 hope you're all doing well though this.

Oh get back under your bridge. My mum works for the NHS - it made her feel appreciated. And yes - it is partly for those who join in.

Myself and my husband have both put ourselves forward to volunteering for the NHS so it’s possible to clap and offer practical help.

Apirateslifeforme · 26/03/2020 21:59

I'm proud of the love for the NHS. It really is the greatest thing about our country

milliememum · 26/03/2020 21:59

@ScarlettBlaize , why drag down so many positive thoughts and feelings? Many of us can only show our appreciation through outlets like this, let it be and keep your negativity to yourself

@Youwonjane Oh get back under your bridge

Oh, you're calling me a troll now for expressing an opinion with which you disagree?

Pleasedontdothat · 26/03/2020 22:00

Just because people don’t join in with something doesn’t mean they don’t support or appreciate the NHS ... not everyone feels comfortable with clapping/singing/shouting - with two ASD teenagers at home who hate noise we stayed inside. I’m sure some of our neighbours think we’re curmudgeonly ingrates but we support NHS workers in our own way (volunteering and donating) - I really don’t feel comfortable with the idea that there is only one way of reacting in a crisis

ScarlettBlaize · 26/03/2020 22:02

There are a very large number of actions you could take that would have a meaningful, tangible impact. This is not one of them. Sorry that you don't like having your attention drawn to reality.

ScarlettBlaize · 26/03/2020 22:03

@Longwhiskers14 Oh do fuck off. You're nothing but a nasty, black-hearted troll.

Oh dear. Disagreeing with you means I'm a troll who should be subjected to some foul-mouthed personal attacks, does it?
