What about everyone else?

Clapped and cheered, Dundee.

Can’t see many front doors from my house but heard plenty of clapping and cheering in the neighborhood. A wee tear might have escaped

Thank You to all the key workers

Elieza · 26/03/2020 21:22

Plenty clapping, car horn, fireworks, and cheering in my working class but of Glasgow.
Nothing apparently in my Mums middle class retirement area though.
Disappointing.

Lily193 · 26/03/2020 21:23

I clapped, no one around to hear me but it was important to me. I frightened an owl and made the dog bark. I've loved reading this thread. Thank you so much to everyone for making me smile and to everyone in the NHS working to save our lives.

mintich · 26/03/2020 21:23

We did here in Brentwood!

Everytimeref · 26/03/2020 21:24

Loads out in my street and could hear it from all the streets around us.

Mawbags · 26/03/2020 21:25

I was quite shocked and very moved at how noisy it was here. Genuinely thought it would just be me.

However I’m a blubbering wreck right now anyway, the whole situation is so distressing and sad.

DrReed · 26/03/2020 21:25

Could be heard all along the river in Wapping. Clapping, whistling, car horns and even fireworks. Fantastic

ChattyLion · 26/03/2020 21:27

Loads of clapping and whooping round our way. Lovely to hear. Can we do it same time next week?

Justmuddlingalong · 26/03/2020 21:31

We were out showing our appreciation here in Fife. Such a small show of gratitude for everyone day in, day out looking after us all. DP was furloughed today, so emotions are already high, but I found the sound of neighbours clapping incredibly moving.
Thank you again to everyone who's working so hard, we salute you. ❤️

Longwhiskers14 · 26/03/2020 21:33

Didn’t know about it, think the idea is cringe

Shuffle back under your bridge, eh?

@puds11

I doubt it’s done much for them though has it confused They would probably rather PPE than a patronising clap that makes all the people staying safely at home feel better.

What an negative old misery you sound. Thankfully, I live in an area where people are not like you, and are friendly and cheerful. 100s of people out clapping and cheering.

Kordelia · 26/03/2020 21:34

Just because people don't go out and clap doesn't mean they don't appreciate the NHS. It's not everyone's style. It's not mine.

It shouldn't be disappointing and it's not disgusting.

helgahelga · 26/03/2020 21:35

@ScarlettBlaize You sound equally as miserable. Past your bedtime eh?

Longwhiskers14 · 26/03/2020 21:35

self-indulgent virtue signalling futile bullshit

There's always one.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 26/03/2020 21:36

SE12 and BR1 put some gusto into it

We were out with our pots and wooden spoons or just our hands clapping .

I note some real downer people on here so not going to read their uptight, insulting responses to those of us whom felt we should do so Do people get at YOU for stopping indoors ? No.!!

helgahelga · 26/03/2020 21:36

It's fine to not go out, and yes of course it means you can still appreciate the NHS. But some comments on here from a few posters are just plain spiteful and mean-spirited and hateful.

How wonderful that you all feel better about yourselves and can spend the rest of the evening congratulating yourself on your entirely meaningless action that has done precisely fuck all to help the situation.

@WhentherabbitswentWild

Waves at SE12. Grin

400PoundMoisturiser · 26/03/2020 21:42

You could hear it getting louder where we live. Then someone from the adjoining street cane round with the light on on her phone waving at us all. Sadly though, we have a medic live opposite us who has been gone all day so didn’t get to see the appreciation from his neighbours!

We live in the CV postcode.

VerbenaGirl · 26/03/2020 21:43

NHS staff I know did genuinely appreciate it, so it’s a shame to see the negativity in the comments.

Youwonjane · 26/03/2020 21:44

We could hear you from SE3 😂. Ah but seriously it was lovely

GoatsDoRome · 26/03/2020 21:44

@Longwhiskers14 no troll, just someone who finds the idea a bit cringe and decided to express my opinion online. Yeh I’m not in the majority, but fuck it, I’m still allowed to say as much

Longwhiskers14 · 26/03/2020 21:45

Actually, it is. There have been some dissenting voices on the thread but you're the only one who's come out with the predictable "virtue signalling" moan. I don't understand the mentality of someone who comes on to deliberately derail a thread in which people are celebrating something really nice and unifying when the entire nation is in turmoil. I'd hate to live in your head.
