Anyone else finding themselves watching TV - like a drama or something and wondering why the people aren't two metres apart and have they washed their hands thoroughly? Not to mention walking in crowds!

I miss touching and hugging but have found myself even reading books and judging people for going out or touching in them!

ragged · 26/03/2020 22:07

Watching tv adverts makes me laugh & laugh.

"When and how would I EVER use any of these products?!!" Is all I can think. There was an ad for Butlins... honestly . Really? How could anyone ever "go on holiday"? What a strange idea.

SoupDragon · 26/03/2020 22:07

Me too! Even reading about social contact in a book is uncomfortable. Utterly bonkers!

scrivette · 26/03/2020 22:13

I thought it was just me!

I keep judging people's profile pictures on Facebook when they change them/post photos of people standing close together or being with their elderly relatives, I have to remember these were probably taken a while ago.

Adverts are bothering me now too, especially for holidays and clothes and 'non necessary' items.

I feel for those companies who have spent money on adverts that are irrelevant and now a bit tasteless.

I think I should get the Sunday papers just to see what the travel section looks like - normally full of adverts for cruises and luxury holidays.

Absolutely feel the same.

It's so weird how quickly the strange becomes the norm.

Advertisements particularly seem strange; people having fun, going places, it looks all wrong.

I'm another one reading books and thinking, 'people touching? No, that wouldn't happen'.

I do hope we can get back to normal when this nightmare ends.

I haven't hugged my children and grandchildren for so long, and I miss them. Thank goodness for skype at least I can see them.

The dog gives me the odd cuddle from time to time.

Stella8686 · 26/03/2020 22:23

Similar but serious

When they don't wear seatbelts!!!!

Not as bad now but the Xfactor and Britain's got talent were THE WORST for this

Every episode at the end of auditions all leaving saying what had happened NOT WEARING SEATBELTS!

Other shows too!

itsgettingweird · 26/03/2020 22:23

GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin I was watching tv earlier and suddenly realised how strange I found it watching streets full of people. ConfusedGrin

TedsFederationRep · 26/03/2020 22:32

When I see pregnant women smoking in Call The Midwife, I want to scream, "What are you doing???"

It's the same feeling.

feebeecat · 26/03/2020 22:33

Friend sent me an email earlier about rescheduling a gig we have tickets for - currently finding the notion of being in a crowd like that ever again, totally unthinkable.
Watching tv adverts just thinking no, can’t do that, no, can’t go there - holidays?? Nope. All seems so surreal.

Branster · 26/03/2020 22:43

Me too, quite uncomfortable feeling glancing at some cookery programme on tv.
Yesterday morning I had to do a drive to collect work documents, I felt the constant need to keep well back away from any of the rare cars I encountered.

Armi · 26/03/2020 22:46

I was watching ‘Back In Time For The Corner Shop’ earlier and was horrified at the number of people just piling in, willy-nilly.

Playdoughbum · 26/03/2020 22:47

I was just saying this earlier!
“No don’t hug her! That’s really irresponsible!”
Ha ha

Qgardens · 26/03/2020 22:52

Another one guilty of the same thoughts.
It doesn't take long to recalibrate to a new normal does it.

Pebbles574 · 26/03/2020 22:54

I'm just weirdly worried about why nobody in The Archers seems aware of it yet! Is Borsetshire the safe place to be?

Danglingmod · 26/03/2020 22:56

Ha ha. I also thought I was the only person doing this... Judging everyone in every book, TV programme and advert for everything non-approved they do!

Fascinating how conditioned we are!

septsapp · 26/03/2020 22:56

This is the best thread I've read in all this misery ! Hilarious about Chris Mitty being like the demon headmaster I was thinking this a bit earlier he's like the war posters your country needs YOU 😂

Flordelice · 26/03/2020 22:57

Yes!

1066vegan · 26/03/2020 22:58

I've got a pile of newspapers next to me and I've been looking through them, checking which ones can go in the recycling and which ones I hadn't actually read.

I found a magazine from a Saturday paper that I'd missed so have been reading it. In one article, someone writes about having plans to meet friends at an exhibition and then go back to their house for a long lunch.

My instinctive reaction was that it was a bloody stupid idea, the gallery or museum would be shut and it wasn't allowed anyway.

The newspaper was from 14th March. Less than a fortnight ago.

Devlesko · 26/03/2020 22:59

I'm interested to see how easily people are falling into line.
There will be no resistance to whatever the New order is, after this is over.

SoupDragon · 26/03/2020 23:01

Don't be ridiculous.

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 26/03/2020 23:02

Thank goodness it's not just me. I'm struggling to watch anything at the moment as the closeness between people is making me feel really edgy. I live with my 17 year old son and I keep telling him to back off but when I've come back from shopping I tell him to really keep his distance. I can't stand it. Hate going out now to walk the dog. Every person I see makes me feel scared. How ever are we going to readjust to real life again?

eandz13 · 26/03/2020 23:05

OMG I thought I was just obsessing too much and it was just me. Absolutely everything I've watched I'm aware how close people are to eachother. I wonder how I'll actually be around other people when this is all over Hmm

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 26/03/2020 23:06

I'm hoping one silver lining of this time is that it will put paid to the head louse

All those hours indoors to comb.

I wonder, will this win the war?
