Anyone else finding themselves watching TV - like a drama or something and wondering why the people aren't two metres apart and have they washed their hands thoroughly? Not to mention walking in crowds!

Yes. We're all doing the same here.

Distance, touching, shaking hands

It's amazing how quickly we've normalised feeling like this

TwoZeroTwoZero · 26/03/2020 20:16

No not really! I feel like this is very unnatural and strange and I don't like it. I'm not a touchy-feely person at all but I do like to be near people and pass the time of day with them. I don't like feeling so wary of others and the feeling of having to stay away. It is leading to a fear and mistrust that might be very difficult to shake once this is all over. I like watching programmes from normal times and thinking of how care free it seems!

Redcrayons · 26/03/2020 20:20

Wierd how quickly it's sunk in.

I was watching people hugging on EE and thinking 'woah, move back'.

Also as a runner, I'm finding people jumping to the side of the pavement rather than hogging it quite nice.

HelloBolloxMyOldFriend · 26/03/2020 20:21

I watched a trailer for some show on Netflix and in one scene, the people were in a grocery store. I was in awe looking at the fully-stocked shelves. Those were the days!

HappyGoLuckyHippo · 26/03/2020 20:22

We had Peppa on here today and the episode with Pedro Pony's cough came on (he coughs and then everybody catches it) and I was slightly alarmed at their blasé attitude!

planetcloud · 26/03/2020 20:24

HelloBolloxMyOldFriend might be a valuable lesson for us all in the future - we have had no idea what it is like to have had our civil liberties taken away and to be able to buy what we want and have the money to do it. We are so lucky with our way of life.

Yeah, I’m finding it really weird. I guess with a lot of shows you suspend your disbelief and pretend it’s really something that is happening somewhere else in the world in real time. Hard to do that at the moment!

I’m really interested to see the tv shows and films and novels that might come out of this time, afterwards.

KatsutheClockworkOctopus · 26/03/2020 20:24

Ha! I thought it was just me. It will be interesting to see what happens when this is over and we can go back to the "old ways"

TheVanguardSix · 26/03/2020 20:25

I saw an ad showing motivational speakers, people hugging, crying tears of joy, arms around each other and I was totally struck by my physical reaction. My hackles were seriously raised! It's so weird how quickly that's set in.
I'm a total introvert, but I do love a hug and being close to people. I'm an extroverted introvert... or is it the other way around? I can never remember. Grin

JustMySize · 26/03/2020 20:25

Don't watch TV apart from the news.

Desperateforadviceplease · 26/03/2020 20:28

This episode gave me a panic attack 2 days ago and I ended up crying for ages!

AnneLovesGilbert · 26/03/2020 20:28

I’m so glad it’s not just me! Grin

That EE advert popped up earlier with the crowds in the train station and it made me sweat. Back the fuck away, you’re all in each other’s faces!!!!! People must be breathing on you!

Conversely, I walked through the village this afternoon and our tiny village shop is letting one person in at a time so the queue to get in was winding up the street with everyone observing distancing religiously. About 7 people but took up half a street. I felt very proud if a bit weirded out. Lots of polite smiles being exchanged.

sausagepastapot · 26/03/2020 20:28

100% this

Watching people shake hands makes me want to throw up

RedskyAtnight · 26/03/2020 20:30

I'm reading a book where the characters go for walks together, meet up in pubs, go shopping (for non essentials) ...

Made me realise that books set in current times would have quite limited plot lines.

Frankiecandle · 26/03/2020 20:30

I was watching Emmerdale and wondering why they were all in the Woolpack.

TeetotalKoala · 26/03/2020 20:32

Yep. I said to DH last night that if was weird to see huge crowds of people. I think it was an advert featuring a football match.

Dinoctoblock · 26/03/2020 20:33

I’ve always thought this about seeing people smoking in old comedies and stuff - i was a barmaid when they banned it but quite quickly it looked mad to see someone smoking in a cafe or bar on TV.

It’s the power of being governed. People quite quickly accept what they’re told to do on the whole, I think. It always leads me to think that if governments were stricter about other things, like climate change or something, maybe problems would be resolved more quickly.

WinterHoliday · 26/03/2020 20:34

Yes! I've been re-watching Last Tango In Halifax and was briefly alarmed when all the characters were in the pub, then I realised that it was filmed a few years ago!

GabsAlot · 26/03/2020 20:35

I keep watching progs and films going they keep touching each other and look at that resturant full of people!

yummychocolate · 26/03/2020 20:36

I drove to the supermarket the other day keeping a very big distance in the car park. Then I realised that I can't catch nothing from my car. Smile

Nicknacky · 26/03/2020 20:36

Do you think we will go back to “normal”? Like shaking a hand or walking side by side with someone?

HelloViroids · 26/03/2020 20:37

I’ve been watching the Split and my mind is blown by the people casually strolling round London, going swimming, having parties Grin

DonttouchthatLarry · 26/03/2020 20:37

Watch The Handmaid's Tale - that'll be more appropriate Wink - walking in 2's, empty shelves in the shops....

1984isnow · 26/03/2020 20:38

Bev on Masterchef was wearing blue gloves, and I thought they're a bit pointless considering how close she was to the others when serving up the plates.

I've been out for the first time all week today, and it's surreal. Reminds me a bit of Gilead but without the colour coordination.

GlendaSugarbeanIsJudgingYou · 26/03/2020 20:42

I was watching one of the Friends New Year episodes a few days ago and they were all hugging and kissing each other in a room full of people.

I'll admit I did have the urge to yell "STOP! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"
