Anyone else finding themselves watching TV - like a drama or something and wondering why the people aren't two metres apart and have they washed their hands thoroughly? Not to mention walking in crowds!

OP posts:
Furries · 26/03/2020 21:08

Thank you, OP, for a wonderfully brilliant bit of light-hearted relief.

Am so glad that it’s not just me thinking this! Some of the adverts etc recently I’ve had the exact same reaction.

Elbow bumps to all!

CathyorClaire · 26/03/2020 21:14

Hell yeah, OP.

Pre virus ads are a bit surreal but alongside that I watch crap DVD's every day while I'm exercising and I've got a gob like Marley's ghost at how close they get to each other.

I'm also a bit jealous of them driving around and casually dropping into shops and scarfing restaurant grub from places that are - remarkably - open...

RedRec · 26/03/2020 21:14

Watched Monday night's Corrie tonight and was shocked at seeing Rita and Norris and Mary and Ken all huddled so close to one another in the Rovers.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 26/03/2020 21:15

Yes! My colleague was adopting this 2m thing the other week and talking about being afraid of contracting this and q a few people at work were a little scornful.

I don't think they are now.

LaneBoy · 26/03/2020 21:15

I’m so glad you started this thread! Yes!

I’m even telling off Peppa Pig for not social distancing 😳

FlamingoAndJohn · 26/03/2020 21:15

I feel exactly the same.

A group of people walk into the pub and I’m thinking ‘Who are you people, what are you doing?’

littlenamechanger · 26/03/2020 21:17

Oh god, I have been thinking this whenever I read my book!

Thank you for letting me know I'm not alone

kateandme · 26/03/2020 21:28

yes!and in the adverts too.and every program that comes on im like "oh no!there will be no more of this soon.and oh no more bake off.they cant film anymore" so when all the current series of programs end we will have no tv?noones filming.
ive been doing it with advertising.so when a jar of dolmio was on the advert today i felt horribly angry that they were shoving it in our faces when we couldnt get it anywhere.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 26/03/2020 21:33

I haven't been out of the house in 3 weeks so I haven't seen any social distancing in action at all. Telly just looks normal to me Blush

Miriel · 26/03/2020 21:33

Yes! It's a really strange feeling.

Then I was watching a period drama where all the ladies were wearing gloves and I immediately thought good, how sensible.

thereisfreedomwithin · 26/03/2020 21:33

yes!

MarieKlepto · 26/03/2020 21:39

It's the ads that are getting me. Normally, I'd fast forward through as I mostly watch on catch-up/recorded. The frequency of close social contact is weird but I'm finding things like ads for supermarkets with rammed shelves and overflowing tables of food just a bit distasteful at the moment.

NotNegan · 26/03/2020 21:39

I thought this yesterday.

Then I remembered I was watching a tv show from 2017...

Ifionlyknewthenwhatiknownow3 · 26/03/2020 21:42

I'm even stopping the car miles behind the one in front!

spacewitch99 · 26/03/2020 21:42

I saw this phrase on Twitter earlier - COVID-gilante - a person who calls the police when they see someone going out more than once 😂

RegDet · 26/03/2020 21:45

I'm hoping one silver lining of this time is that it will put paid to the head louse.

I've never been a big hugger and kisser so I'll be pleased if everybody gets a bit less touchy feely again.

rainbowlou · 26/03/2020 21:46

I was thinking this earlier when watching something on tv.
So weird to think this is our new normal for a while and I wonder if people will become less tactile keep distance between each other?
I am finding it hard at school seeing the children all sitting apart, and staff meetings are interesting, we look like we’ve all fallen out!😀

Taswama · 26/03/2020 21:47

I have been watching Call the Midwife and Masterchef recently. I know Call the Midwife is set a long time ago, so that’s ok, but I cringe when the contestants on Masterchef hug each other to celebrate getting through to the next round.

workercovid · 26/03/2020 21:48

Omg! Me too! and I just put it down to me being a weirdo.
Glad I am not alone

Greenpop21 · 26/03/2020 21:49

Yes! We were just watching an old Gavin and Stacey and people were in a pub. Looked so strange already!

NearlyGranny · 26/03/2020 21:50

I thought I was the only one! How quickly our new normal has become embedded...

Greenpop21 · 26/03/2020 21:51

I’m dreading working next week. I’m a TA and on the rota having been off this week. I feel really uneasy about being around other people apart from my family. How has this happened in a week?

1forsorrow · 26/03/2020 21:56

We're self isolating as much as we can as DH is vulnerable so I have been out once in 2 weeks so I haven't adjusted to the 2 metres as I haven't seen anyone to stay 2 metres away from. In my head I think everything is going on as normal outside, I mean I know it isn't but it feels like it must be.

1forsorrow · 26/03/2020 21:58

I think I might have agoraphobia by the end of this.

gratooo · 26/03/2020 21:58

We watched The Terminal where Tom Hanks is a visitor to the US who gets stuck in International Departures for several months because he's stateless. He shook hands with the Immigration Director and I couldn't help a comment!
