Daily Mail link, but I'm listening to it on BBC Radio 5. It sounds as if Priti Patel is facing lots of complaints because of the way she treats people. Combine that with her politics, and she just doesn't come across very pleasantly. Can she last in her job treating people like this (assuming it is true).

No she sounds awful. But I don’t think she’s alone among the current government!

dwinsiaradcymraeg · 20/02/2020 11:12

Understatement of the century!

Pippin2028 · 20/02/2020 11:17

I think at some point she will go to far and be secretly recorded by an aide and it being all over media and she will have to resign. Also the gaurdian has recordings of Boris big row with Carrie, I am sure that is also going to be released at some stage, people are just biding their time.

OnlyTheTitOfTheLangBerg · 20/02/2020 11:18

Have you been under a rock for the last few years OP? She's a heartless, unfeeling arsehole.

cologne4711 · 20/02/2020 11:33

I can only agree with the posts above, OP!

BowermansNose · 20/02/2020 11:39

I think I was making a gentle understatement. I somehow find it satisfying when someone who is politically awful also turns out to be horrible on a personal level.

I know someone who has already been forced out of their job because their 'face didn't fit' and gave honest, expert advice and facts when she only wanted to hear her own opinions parroted back to her.

Luckily they are excellent, recognised as being at the top of their field, and have already been snapped up in a higher paying job.

FishCanFly · 20/02/2020 13:19

what do you expect of her? she is vile

Hingeandbracket · 20/02/2020 13:21

Hello? She’s a Tory.

Hingeandbracket · 20/02/2020 13:22

Can she last in her job treating people like this
It doesn’t seem to hold back many people in politics.

StealthPolarBear · 20/02/2020 13:24

It isn't her job to be nice. It's her job to do her job well.
I think she's awful but no one would ever start a thread about the niceness or not of a male politician.

NurseButtercup · 20/02/2020 13:25

I've worked with people like her, blind ambition, no actual talent so surround themselves with people that only ever say yes.

If you offer a different opinion or they just take a disliking to you - you're forced out.

JacquesHammer · 20/02/2020 13:26

She wasn’t hired to be nice, she was hired to do a job.

I think she’s pretty poor at the latter to be honest, but I doubt we would see articles like the one in the OP about male politicians.

Lordfrontpaw · 20/02/2020 13:27

I’m beginning to wonder if the % of female a*hole politicians is higher than the male % of same? It just seems that way.

PhilCornwall1 · 20/02/2020 13:27

It isn't her job to be nice. It's her job to do her job well.

She's failed on both counts then.

EthelMayFergus · 20/02/2020 13:28

Very true Stealth, women are still expected to 'be nice'.

How on earth did The Guardian obtain a recording of Boris and Carrie arguing? That is such an invasion of privacy, whoever they are.

Lordfrontpaw · 20/02/2020 13:29

labour activists next door. Never trust a next door activist...

StealthPolarBear · 20/02/2020 13:30

PhilCornwall1 don't disagree - but no one has ever talked about the niceness of Cameron, Blair, corbyn or Churchill as far as I'm aware.

Rainbowunicat · 20/02/2020 13:31

I know people who have worked with her. She is not at all nice.
They also tell me which male MPs are not nice, this is not a sexist thing.

PhilCornwall1 · 20/02/2020 13:33

but no one has ever talked about the niceness of Cameron, Blair, corbyn or Churchill as far as I'm aware.

Probably because they weren't. I've read a lot about Blair and by all accounts, he isn't very nice.

Rainbowunicat · 20/02/2020 13:34

People go on and on about the perceived lack of niceness from Corbyn. Blair is seen as smarmy (creepily nice) and Cameron has always been considered nice but dim! I'll be honest, I have no answer regarding Churchill! I found him a bit short with the queen when I watched the Crown! Grin

StealthPolarBear · 20/02/2020 13:35

Neither is Patel yet here we are

StealthPolarBear · 20/02/2020 13:36

I'll give you that the lack of mn threads on the niceness if Churchill (and Blair! Wow I feel old) might have a bigger factor other than them being men.

Womenwotlunch · 20/02/2020 13:36

Agree Op
I really don’t like her. When I see her smug , annoying face on tv I feel irritated

Floribundance · 20/02/2020 13:39

There’s an ongoing war between the Civil Service and the Government.
