... to think that Priti Patel doesn't sound very nice?

Daily Mail link, but I'm listening to it on BBC Radio 5. It sounds as if Priti Patel is facing lots of complaints because of the way she treats people. Combine that with her politics, and she just doesn't come across very pleasantly. Can she last in her job treating people like this (assuming it is true).

My favourite is the one about Boris Johnson and the kipper - perfect for today with fishing back in the news again.

I agree she's absolutely vile. The worst of all of them IMO. And has no clue what she's talking about. And the way she talks seems to hold everyone else in contempt. Don't get me started on the smirk.

I actually used to know Matt Hancock - he's well out of his depth these days and a spineless coward, but despite that I think he's actually quite a decent bloke generally. I mean, he'd make you a cup of tea and hold the door for you. And be good company generally.

I would rather be locked in a room with Boris and (shudder) than PP. Actually Dominic C might be even worse.

What a horrible world we live in. If they were horrible but competent it would be one thing, they are neither.

Iggly · 20/02/2020 21:25

She’s awful.

As is Boris. And Gove. And David Davis. And Cummings. She’s in good company.

Cremebrule · 20/02/2020 21:25

There are a lot of ministers that are known as being horrid to their staff. Just to counter though, I had friends that worked with Jack Straw, Alan Johnson and Ken Clarke and didn’t have a bad word to say about them. There will always be a spectrum of niceness regardless of political leanings.

R1R2 · 20/02/2020 21:35

Priti is a beautiful person inside and out. you all sound jealous.

Seems she's in 'good company' with the rest of the nasty bunch.

Iggly · 20/02/2020 22:13

Is that you Priti?

Anyone who thinks the death penalty should come back, who cosies up to the tobacco industry and thinks it’s ok to deport long standing citizens is not beautiful.

Paintedmaypole · 20/02/2020 22:52

Priti may be quite good looking but it is spoiled by her smirking facial expression. Her outward behaviour suggests that she is anything but beautiful on the inside. I really don't think jealousy is the emotion she generally inspires.

LexMitior · 20/02/2020 22:58

Some politicians are well thought of. She is not one of them and never well be. Lots of rude names for her aren’t there?

But for a certain kind of person she seems to inspire Thatcher style devotion.

MuscatelGrapes · 20/02/2020 23:06

Do feel free to explain in detail, with sources, the policies that constitute this ‘beauty’ of which you speak, @R1R2.

AmazingGreats · 20/02/2020 23:11

She is a particularly poisonous specimen in amongst a whole bag of bad apples

GameofPhones · 20/02/2020 23:58

What breath-taking ignorance she displays. I wonder if she thinks 'counter' is a sort of intensifier when she says 'counter-terrorist'?

LadyMadderRose · 21/02/2020 00:03

She really needs to watch a few series of 24, then she might grasp counter-terrorism.

GlitterNails · 21/02/2020 00:08

She's my MP sadly. I've begged her for help for literally years at this point asking for help on a disability relate issue that I'm really struggling with.

She's been awful. She couldn't give less of a shit. She'll sometimes send a letter - ALWAYS to the wrong person. She misses the point every single time and comes back with "helpful" advice that I'd already explained wouldn't work in the original email that's so awful and patronising it makes the whole issue worse.

When I mention the issue to other people they are always like 'you should go to your MP about that.' Yeah. I have. The disabled are at the bottom of her pile to give a crap about.

She also once knocked on my door while campaigning. Sadly I wasn't in but a member of my family told her she wouldn't vote for her if she was the last person on earth. She kind of spluttered in response then 'had to go' very quickly.

Please get her out.

RipleysCat · 21/02/2020 00:11

She’s one of the few politicians who seem to throughly enjoy being cruel. I can imagine her announcing workhouses with relish.
Coupled with being thick and oblivious to it, not a good look.

Pixxie7 · 21/02/2020 00:28

Whilst she continues to completely agree with Boris she will be fine if she is Agee’s with him she will be toast.

She's a grade A cunt!

Lycidas · 21/02/2020 00:36

I see plenty of people talking about how IDS is personally vile. Or Gove. There are some politicians who just reek of nastiness and it isn’t confined to Patel.

Forgetfebuary · 21/02/2020 00:47

Is she supposed to be nice? Since when was that a requisite of an mp?
I've never heard this leveled at other mps

Is this just racist and s exist?

AlexaShutUp · 21/02/2020 01:11

She's dreadful. She fits right in with the rest of the current cabinet.

AmazingGreats · 21/02/2020 01:16

@Forgetfebuary

It definitely has nothing to do with sex/gender or race for me and everything to do with politics. I am judging her entirely on her hateful political beliefs and I would judge a white male in the exact same way.

SnoozyLou · 21/02/2020 01:23

She just needs a coat made from Dalmatian pelts and she's done.

And Jacob Rees Mogg reminds me of Arthur Slugworth, the baddie from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory while we're at it.

Roussette · 21/02/2020 08:15

What a horrible world we live in. If they were horrible but competent it would be one thing, they are neither

This.

Don't get me started on Jacob Rees Smug, he's another nasty piece of work and completely in another world. One bit of good news as far as him.... his company made a profit of £130million last year and it's all stuck in a tax haven in Cayman Islands so he pays no tax on it here. Since 31st January, the EU have blacklisted Cayman Islands as a tax haven. Hooray, serves him right as he was an avid Brexiteer and a member of the ERG research group. Perhaps he can start paying tax now.

Oh... and he thinks food banks are 'uplifting' to go to.

Rant over.

ssd · 21/02/2020 08:20

According to dh, she is utterly horrible. So she fits in really well with the rest of the government.
