To think that a lot of genuinely beautiful people ruin themselves with plastic surgery etc?

As a self confessed utterly ugly bug I just can't understand it... There are truly beautiful women out there who do it to themselves time and time again and end up almost caricatures of themselves.

Just a thought after seeing the latest pics of Catherine Zeta Jones who was incredibly gorgeous. Not a caricature yet, but perhaps in danger of going there.

Came on to say Christie Brinkley. She looks amazing.

Not sure what CZJ has done, she was one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen when she was in DBOM. Absolutely classic

And Michelle! Looks like a Kardashian now

rubydoobydoo · 05/09/2021 03:41

I actually think CZJ looks amazing for her age despite the obvious surgery!

But I totally agree with all the comment about the younger people having fillers etc - I'd never heard of Frankie Essex before but she was speaking on a programme that was on earlier, and her face looks downright odd and strangely puffed up. I looked her up and she's only 33 - surely she'd look better without all those fillers? This is one of the better photos I found of her!

rubydoobydoo · 05/09/2021 03:47

Just googled the poor girl further and all the articles coming up are about how much she weighs. No wonder she's ended up doing that to her face to try and find acceptance somehow......

onelittlefrog · 05/09/2021 05:28

It is a shame, but it's also a shame that there are whole threads about how people look and whether or not they are beautiful. It's all subjective.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 05/09/2021 05:36

"Yup - when you’ve had the face of a mule all your life, you don’t approach the ravages of ageing with the same panic of a glamour puss."

I identify strongly with this statement!

TomBradysLeftKneecap · 05/09/2021 06:01

I have a friend who was literally the most breathtakingly gorgeous human I'd ever seen. And then she hit 40 and started with botox and fillers and now, at 48, looks much older solely for the reason she looks like she's had work done so it's aging. And the sad part is, she'd have looked so much younger right now if she'd just left her face alone.

Lurcherloves · 05/09/2021 06:08

@RuffleCrow that’s so true it should be about our character. I’m going to remember that myself when I’m feeling a little insecure about aging

HarebrightCedarmoon · 05/09/2021 06:08

The thing with Courtney Cox was that she aged prematurely as she got skinnier as Friends went on. She would have looked much better with a little more weight on her.

SmokeyDevil · 05/09/2021 08:41

Has Helen mirren had stuff done? She looks pretty much how she should when aging really, maybe stuff on her neck or maybe just has genes the rest of us would kill for. Can't actually see the underside of her neck in pictures though so hard to tell.

The rest of them look awful. Cheryl looks like a doll (her excuse was brilliant though), czj is starting to look like her husband, Renee and Courtney are plastic and Sharon does not look beautiful, she looks fake as hell. Don't get me started on Simon. Grin

It's a shame any of them felt they needed it though. No one of them did, all beautiful in their own way. Not sure I agree with another poster though who says we'd kill to look like them regardless. Obviously I would kill to look like czj when she was younger, but now? No. She was stunning when younger.

Sharon Osborne and Helen Mirren were not attractive when younger Helen mirren came to mass fame in prime suspect and she was quite unattractive then- she was late 40s
CounsellorTroi · 05/09/2021 09:33

Susan Sarandon is another one who looks great without looking obviously “done”.

OhWhyNot · 05/09/2021 09:47

Helen Morton was famous long before Prime Suspect

She was always very sultry not necessarily considered a beauty but certainly very very attractive

She is an actress her role in Prime Suspect was that of a women who had to fight to the top of her tough profession and was an alcoholic she wasn’t playing the sex kitten (thankfully)

I think she may have had sown work down but had not over done it

OhWhyNot · 05/09/2021 09:47

*Helen Mirren

KittenKong · 05/09/2021 10:05

Some people just age better than others. I swear I look older than my mil. And my eldest sister (14 years older than me until recently looked really young)

I used the word mass fame deliberately. She became a household name then, before that she was someone who most people would say they recognised but couldn't name.She was an RSC/theatre actor with an odd screen and tv part.

Her IMD shows small parts and classical- most people didn't (and still dont) watch Shakespeare.

Prime Suspect was massive, back when people watched TV and the content of the next episode were not leaked.

OhWhyNot · 05/09/2021 10:33

Abs may have not been the household name she is now but she was known

And she was certainly always considered a very very attractive woman very sensual (which has little to do with looks)

I wouldn’t put her in the same category as Sharon Osborne who had sugary very early on (and had never had what HM has)

Scrumbleton · 05/09/2021 13:34

It’s all about scale and being realistic about what you want to achieve - you only note the cases where it’s overdone and results in the awful Instagram look or a change of appearance. I have Botox done twice a year ( rather than the recommended 3months) by a great doctor. I’ve had HIFU - which encourages your own collagen to reboost over a 3 month period and I have a peel every 6 weeks. I don’t look different but my skin is fresh for my age (late 50s) probably smoother than it was 10 years ago and my jawline is quite well defined. I get lots of compliments on my skin. I still have lots of expression but that’s because I haven’t opted for the shiny dome head and I’m not trying to look younger just the best version of myself. I think fillers are pretty awful if they are noticeable.

MorganKitten · 05/09/2021 13:44

@misspiggy19

Christie Brinkley looks amazing for her age. Not sure if she has had work done
She has had a lot, just paid for good work.
IcedPurple · 05/09/2021 13:44

@MaxNormal

I suspect Helen Mirren has, she's got a very good jawline. But whoever did it did a bloody good job, and she's sensibly steered clear of the overfilled, over Botoxed look.
Yes, Helen has a jawline that a woman in her 50s (me!) let alone her 70s, would envy.

I think what's she done wisely is to not go overboard on Botox or fillers, although I'm sure she's had some done, and instead have jaw and eye lifts. She does look her age, and she does have wrinkles, but imo it's sagging and jowliness, not wrinkles, which are much more unattractive.

Ditto Sharon Stone. She's clearly had work, but it's been good work. Susan Sarandon is another.

MorganKitten · 05/09/2021 13:50
**@GrumpyTerrier* - As an aside, I don't believe there are any women celebs over 40 who havent had anything one. It is completely the culture in that world.*

Kathleen Turner is on record as saying, "Faye Dunaway once told me that if I did not start plastic surgery by the time I was 40, it would be too late. And I said, 'Well fine, I won't do it then.' I don't want to be a Cher, where my face never changes or moves."

She's late 60s now and looks as she should. But here's the thing; she still sounds like the sexiest woman imaginable and her interviews are insightful, witty and interesting.
Kathleen Turner had an eye lift a few years ago and has spoken about considering more work.

IcedPurple · 05/09/2021 13:51

Definitely don't agree that plastic surgery never looks good - look up Blake Lively's nose job(s).

And the rest. The face we see was basically bought. Same with Megan Fox.

IcedPurple · 05/09/2021 14:03

@PrincessHoneysuckle

Christie Brinkley looks 30 years younger than her age imo.
No she doesn't. She may look like that from a distance or with a very soft-focus lens, but close up she looks like a caricature of her younger self. She's clearly finding it very hard to accept ageing, and I find that rather sad.
HollowTalk · 05/09/2021 15:18

Nobody looks 30 years younger. I don't think many people can even look 10 years younger. People's faces are of their era - it's impossible to get past that.

Blooboi · 05/09/2021 18:12

@Gooseysgirl

Wow Shock
You should watch a program called prodigal son. It just finished the second season on sky. Catherine Zeta Jones plays a baddy and some of the close ups of her are just strange
Ddot · 05/09/2021 18:42

I can understand a tweak here and there, but some go way too far.
