To think that a lot of genuinely beautiful people ruin themselves with plastic surgery etc?

As a self confessed utterly ugly bug I just can't understand it... There are truly beautiful women out there who do it to themselves time and time again and end up almost caricatures of themselves.

Just a thought after seeing the latest pics of Catherine Zeta Jones who was incredibly gorgeous. Not a caricature yet, but perhaps in danger of going there.

Well, we only notice the ones that go wrong, so there are probably lots of people out there with subtly-done Botox or fillers that look great. But I agree there are lots of examples of celebrities who have that ‘overdone’ look, and it does seem really sad.

Victoria Principal. Married a plastic surgeon who I think liked to practise on her face I watched the original Dallas a few years ago and the change mutation over the seasons was shocking.

I always feel sad when I see Kylie Minogue - she doesn't look like herself anymore.

I hate the current trend for those puffed-up lips and pouting in selfies. If you flick through any magazine it's hard to tell some young women apart now.

One thing I have noticed on the school run is it seems to be the less affluent mums who have big lips and big eyebrows. Our school is a pretty mixed intake from 2 parent working professionals who live on the naice estate and then the generally 1 parent families who tend to have less well paid jobs. The ones who seem to turn up with lips and brows and fake tans and hair extensions tend to be the less well. And usually younger. And I do judge a bit when they can't afford day trips or holidays but seem to be in the beauticians every other week having expensive stuff done.

I've been a single parent struggling to make ends meet and the last thing I spent money on was myself. I did wear make up but only the very basics and was all cheap and cheerful stuff. And coloured my own haor and had it cut at the hair dressing college and that felt frivolous but I did need to look OK for work.

I just think there are better things to spend your limited money on than fillers and nails.

Actually, I've just looked at some of the photos and I think CZJ looks remarkably like Kris Jenner in the non-close ups. She (CZJ) had really aged herself close up, unfortunately, and she's only 50!

J-Lo looks incredible. I’d love to know what she’s had done to maintain a taut jawline at 50.

I think they all look ok for their age though regardless of surgery. The only one I felt “ oh dear” about was Jennifer Anniston. She looks Square and hard now. I think a slightly softer jowly Jen would have looked good.

Meg Ryan and Courtenay Cox both ruined their faces with filler. They both looked like the kind of beauties who would have naturally aged well, too.

I think natural beautiful people often grow up being complemented/compared/put down etc... they tend to concentrate on their looks and inevitably their "flaws"....looks are a bigger deal to these people..

Katie Price was absolutely beautiful several surgeries ago. Charlotte Crosby has destroyed herself. Farrah Abrahams from Teen Mom looks like a caricature.
I genuinely don't understand how they thought they needed the work.

It’s sad that society makes them feel like they need it. I guess if you’ve spent the whole of your life being told you’re incredibly beautiful it must sting when the compliments stop. Combined with hollywood telling you you’re too old for work when you’re barely middle aged.

It is really sad though. And god knows what the younger generation will be like, they’re already drawing on big lips and eyebrows and tattooing on make up before they’re 20.

I think we have to assume that pretty much every celebrity over 35 we know the face if will have had some sort of 'work'.

The variation is what look they go for; super plastic and a bit obvious like sharon Osbourne, but smooth and glowing; or a subtler 'just a few years off' look like helen Mirren.

Its usually the really famous beautiful women who succumb to fillers botox etc
It must be hard to watch their beauty fade as they age but better to look normal I think

Before Christmas I was channel hopping and came across the American National Country Music Awards - during which they kept scanning the audience, as they tend to do at these star studded entertainment business awards.
There were a whole heap of seriously weirdly deformed faces there. Quite grotesque, and sadly all over the audience.

If you surround yourself with other people like you though, you get a skewed view of what is 'normal' - bit like some of the young girls with orange skin and charcoaled on thick lines where their eyebrows should be.

Some of them look bizarre, some look awful, some look OK, but they NEVER look younger (well, no more than 4-5 years younger) than their age.

I think almost everyone looks worse after plastic surgery. I get why you would do it if you have huge breasts and your back is hurting as a result, or if one of your features really , really bothers you ( you think your nose is way too large, you can't stand your really crooked teeth), but that's like 1% of the situations. Almost always, it's unnecessary and a matter of working on your own self esteem.
Obviously people should do what they want with their money and their bodies, but I don't understand it at all. It is sad that our looks have become so important that we would go through a medical procesure

where i live it’s a massive trend right now to have lip fillers. every other girl seems to have them. my nail lady is very pretty but her lips are beyond ridiculous. they are huge! all she could talk about whilst she was pregnant was how she couldn’t wait for a top up, then she had them re-done when her baby was a week old. she’s also had botox and she’s not even 25 yet!

I reckon it’s probably harder for people who were always ‘beautiful’ to accept themselves the way they are. Like being pretty is part of who they are so they have to keep it up. Obviously it’s a lot worse if you’re in the limelight.

I’ve seen lots of lip and face fillers round my way too. Usually I see a face and something is off. Face looks pillowy, kind of ageless but not in a good way. Im not a fan of the look. However, talking to a younger female at work (me mid 40s, her early 20s) she says she feels intense pressure to have this work done. I feel zero pressure to.

SimonJT Heidi was SO gorgeous before all that surgery! She completely ruined her looks, it was so sad!
