To think that a lot of genuinely beautiful people ruin themselves with plastic surgery etc?

As a self confessed utterly ugly bug I just can't understand it... There are truly beautiful women out there who do it to themselves time and time again and end up almost caricatures of themselves.

Just a thought after seeing the latest pics of Catherine Zeta Jones who was incredibly gorgeous. Not a caricature yet, but perhaps in danger of going there.

I knew this would be about her! I saw the pictures before and she has totally ruined her natural beauty Sad

DustyMaiden · 22/01/2020 17:49

It’s hard to accept your looks are fading, very tempting to try to hang onto them.

ShirleyPhallus · 22/01/2020 17:52

It really is a shame, but then here we are commenting on women’s appearances so maybe that’s exactly the reason they do it

A lot of younger women now seem to go for the excess plastic surgery look - Jessy Little Mix, Michelle keegan, Lauren Goodger. Such a shame as they all looked so lovely before.

3luckystars · 22/01/2020 17:55

Well I thought Katie Price was lovely as she was. But she didn't think that.

I suppose they are not happy the way they are and there is no way of guessing what way they will turn out, so they take a chance.

Chosennone · 22/01/2020 17:58

Is there anyone who actually looks better after Cosmetic surgery? I know a few people who have had nose jobs that look good. Less people seem to be having breast implants. I know countless young girls who have lip fillers. Ok on photos, looking like an extreme allergic reaction has occured in real life Confused

Bluntness100 · 22/01/2020 17:59

Some take it too far I agree, I haven't seen the latest photos of Catherine but on her insta she looks fine.

Oh, oh, Jane Fonda! She looks bloody marvellous. Also, Sharon Osbourne, fantastic plastic surgeon.

RuffleCrow · 22/01/2020 18:02

The way i see it, what have we got to lose by working to change the culture that says the worth of a girl or woman resides largely in her appearance?

We all need to fight the urge to focus on female appearance and instead make it about character.

Charactercharactercharacter is how i will be responding to any thread or rl comment on a female appearance from now on.

Loads!! But with good cosmetic surgery you can’t actually tell. I met a friend for lunch recently and she had such beautiful, clear skin. I asked her if she’d had a facial and it was Botox.

Jennifer aniston’s original nose job was great but she’s looking a little less like herself these days, possibly too much filler

mencken · 22/01/2020 18:04

sadly yes. Even lip fillers (which I believe wear off) turn perfectly normal looks into the 'recently thumped' appearance which is now so popular.

Katie Price was really pretty and is only 41 now so still would be except for the mutilating surgery. Scrubbed of the slap she still looks quite good and it is such a shame.

just looked at Zeta Jones being interviewed. No movement from the lips up. Also a terrible shame - and as no-one can stop their neck wrinkling it is really, really obvious!

Lippy1234 · 22/01/2020 18:09

I think Kim Kardashian’s Mum looks great, I don’t know what she has done but every time I see her she looks even better.

Siameasy · 22/01/2020 18:13

Just googled it, what a shame. I wonder if it’s harder to think of “losing” your looks when you’ve been feted for them. I consider myself “normal looking-scrub up ok” so have nothing to lose. Perhaps it’s better to be average

Chosennone · 22/01/2020 18:14

Sharon Osbourne is definitely in the minority. Google has lead to some interesting images. I'd forgotten about Lesley Ash. 'Baby' off Dirty Dancing just looked so different!

Frouby · 22/01/2020 18:17

Sharon Osborne looks bloody fantastic.

Looobyloo · 22/01/2020 18:17

I've just googled, what has she done?! Bloody hell. Renee zellweger is as bad.

I think if people do it when they're too young it actually ages them. I was watching real housewives of Cheshire and Dawn Wards 22 year old daughter has had botox, she looks so much older than 22 because of it.

Looobyloo · 22/01/2020 18:19

Sharon Osborne doesn't look like sharon Osborne. She does look good though for 90 she must have an excellent plastic surgeon.

Haworthia · 22/01/2020 18:20

Absolutely yes. Cheap access to filler in particular is a scourge on society, frankly. It normalises a very particular, very fake look and leaves young women thinking it simply isn’t acceptable to have a thin top lip, for example (the amount of women I see saying “I just had to have fillers, I had no top lip!”). It fuels body dysmorphia on a grand scale.

I watched a trashy documentary on BBC3 recently about women working in a hair salon and almost all of them had badly done, excessive lip filler, and they were all aged 18-23. It was so sad. I don’t want my daughter to grow up and wreck her face like that.

Look at this girl I saw on Instagram yesterday. Her lips make up such an unnaturally large proportion of her face. She looks like a Bratz doll. message edited by MNHQ to remove image

nocluewhattodoo · 22/01/2020 18:22

I imagine they keep pumping their faces full of whatever it is because they are constantly subjected to criticism on their appearance. We seem to have regressed to women being valued for their looks above all else, along with very warped beauty standards pushed by plastic surgeons. I find the younger women mutilating themselves much more disturbing though, like that girl from Geordie Shore, as it isn't motivated by fear of aging, which I actually think is quite natural.

Nousernameforme · 22/01/2020 18:24

Simon Cowell on the Barclay card ad looks awful all swollen it looks like he has had an allergic reaction

SimonJT · 22/01/2020 18:24

I really think before any non-medical plastic surgery the person should have to undergo fairly rigorous mental health screenings.

There used to be a show called the hills, one of the people (heidi) had extensive surgery to please her abusive partner. She was only in her twenties and very very vulnerable.

Marriedtoapenguin · 22/01/2020 18:27

I do wish ladies would leave themselves alone.

Renee Zellweger was so gorgeous in Empire Records. Now, she looks ill.

Sharon Osbourne is about the only one who's not ruined herself.

If proof were needed look at Honor Blackman and Helen Mirren. Don't think they've had any work done and my word, they look amazing.

Thedeadwood · 22/01/2020 18:30

You honestly believe neither of them have had any work done?!

imjustanerd · 22/01/2020 18:31

Charlotte Crosby is a classic example of bad surgery.

She was so naturally pretty and didn't even need surgery at all as she's so young, but what ever she has done to her face I'm not sure but it looks so stretched and unnatural.

MaxNormal · 22/01/2020 18:32

I suspect Helen Mirren has, she's got a very good jawline. But whoever did it did a bloody good job, and she's sensibly steered clear of the overfilled, over Botoxed look.

Toomuchtooyoung01 · 22/01/2020 18:34

Yes! So many girls in their early 20s having all sorts of shit injected into their faces just to look like.clones of each other!
