To think that a lot of genuinely beautiful people ruin themselves with plastic surgery etc?

As a self confessed utterly ugly bug I just can't understand it... There are truly beautiful women out there who do it to themselves time and time again and end up almost caricatures of themselves.

Just a thought after seeing the latest pics of Catherine Zeta Jones who was incredibly gorgeous. Not a caricature yet, but perhaps in danger of going there.

What is most sad is when the likes of Charlotte Crosby and Katie Price destroy themselves with surgery rather than use the money they have to get help for their mental health. No amount of surgery will heal what is happening inside.

Jennifer Grey (baby from Dirth Dancing) actually said once that getting a nose job/surgery ruined her career. People wanted 'Baby' but she made herself unrecognisable. Here original nose was part of her charm.

I said this on another thread about famous women and plastic surgery - look at Linda Hamilton. She actually looks her age, as in, she has actually aged, and it’s so refreshing. I want to see inspiring and interesting women who age naturally.

BeTheRabbit · 22/01/2020 20:32

I wonder if it's a form of body dysmorphia in a way, but reversed, as in they think it looks better than it actually does.

You know what, I’m just going to be honest. I’m in my early 20s and have had lip & jaw filler. It ended up going wrong (unflattering, migration, bumps etc) and I do regret it. I genuinely looked better before. Can’t wait to get it dissolved!

BeTheRabbit · 22/01/2020 20:41

"How we see ourselves is so rarely how other people see us.

Same goes for you too, OP."

Sadly not, other people definitely think I'm ugly. I don't see my true horror.

Charlotte Crosby had a lovely friendly face before all the ridiculous fillers. I've noticed overdoing it tends to give people awful resting bitch face. I feel quite sorry for her, what must be going through her head to want to do that to yourself.

DerbyshireGirly · 22/01/2020 20:42

@BeTheRabbit I think there's definitely something in that. Plus reliance on social media and watching too much reality TV where they've all got that look. It normalises it.

I'm late 20s but avoid all that, out of sight out of mind. I think my mental health is much better as a result. These constant images of fake, plastic people brings nothing but misery to many girls in their teens and twenties but I think some people don't realise it's possible to live without all that. Why do so many people all want to look exactly the same too?

BlueChangeling · 22/01/2020 20:53

My mum says when we win the euromillions she wants to take a trip to Michelle Pfeiffers surgeon.

My younger cousin and her friends are in there early 20s and use botox fillers. They looked at me as though I was bonkers when I asked why they used botox when they haven't got any wrinkles.

Women don't inject themselves and get judged.
Women inject themselves and get judged.

How about take your proboscis out of women's appearance, and stop giving attention to how women look, be it positive or negative, and then MAYBE more women will stop giving a shit? Grin

OMG at CZJ.

She had surgery years ago and changed her hair style at the same time while claiming she hadn't had any surgery. Zeets, we aren't that gullible Hmm.

VenusTiger · 22/01/2020 21:11

I dated someone many years ago, who after the first date, said “have you ever thought about getting breast implants” Angry I asked if he’d ever thought about getting a bigger cock!

I’d already experienced comments from 2 men before this too.

I did actually think about surgery, from age 16 and decided to wait until I was 21 to decide. I’m glad surgery of any kind wasn’t so readily available back then, as it seems to be nowadays.

Luckily for me, my DH “adores” my figure, and me. I also have boobs now I’m a mom Wink.

Lastly, I was able to admit back then, that if I did have surgery, I would only be doing it to satisfy my ego and attract more attention. I wouldn’t have been doing it for me.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 22/01/2020 21:18

Isnt CZJ 51 now? I dont think the work shes obviously had looks that bad at all . The photos where theyve zoomed in on her aren't great but whos would be

I feel more sad for the people who have taken it too far like katie price, or the young 20 year olds i know who are alreafy having lip fillers and botox

SpokeTooSoon · 22/01/2020 21:26

Jennifer Aniston is looking weird these days. Puffy cheeks and looking peculiar around the mouth and upper lip area.

The worst offender is Courtney Cox. So beautiful in the early seasons of Friends. By the end you can see her features changing and now, I’m afraid, I find her really hard to look at.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 22/01/2020 21:27

What I find odd is that these celebs all rend up looking the same, my DH calls it Feline face, Charlotte Crosby looks like Pete Burns in that picture.

Russellbrandshair · 22/01/2020 21:29

No and I think it’s very rude to say “ruined” - that’s your opinion. They might love the way they look, they do it for themselves not for some random strangers approval. Who gave you the right to proclaim what’s objectively “beautiful”?

Sunflower20 · 22/01/2020 21:31

Megan Fox is another one.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 22/01/2020 21:32

Michelle Keegan looks like a different person now.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 22/01/2020 21:35

I don’t thin MK had ruined her looks though, what I would say is that she has lost her individuality and now looks like every other celeb who has gone down that route, she could be one of the Kardashians.

PapayaCoconut · 22/01/2020 21:38

Well, it's that or wrinkles and jowls. They'll get ripped to pieces either way, so I'm not sure what your point is.

PapayaCoconut · 22/01/2020 21:41

I think CZJ looks really beautiful. Sharon Osbourne looks like a bloody Spitting Image puppet.

Cinammoncake · 22/01/2020 21:45

YANBU OP - It's a problem that the fewer naturally ageing older women in the public spotlight, the more people will worry about ageing.

Someone like Kirsty Wark is more what I'd be wanting to look like and consider to be an older attractive woman. We actually need women not to have all this stuff done to their face so as to show it's not necessary

nitgel · 22/01/2020 21:45

I dont thibk anyone looks better after ps. Its bloody awful and czj looks crazed. Shame

Cinammoncake · 22/01/2020 21:48

Well, it's that or wrinkles and jowls. They'll get ripped to pieces either way,

The media have a lot to answer for. Ageing can happen so quickly and feel scary, and it must be really, really hard if you're in the public eye, and especially in Hollywood where everyone around you has had all this stuff done

Tellmetruth4 · 22/01/2020 21:49

CZJ has a heavy smoker look which makes her look older than 50 despite the surgery.
