To buy hideous shoes that DD loves

?My DD is three and loves purple and sparkles. While looking for new shoes together she spotted these and she really wants them. The last ones she had were pink sparkle converse and I was fine with them but her Dad hates them and complains and makes comments any time she has them on 😡 it really annoys me. I think she should allowed to have an input and wear things she likes but he thinks she's too young and she should wear what she's told. So do you buy your kids clothes that you like or clothes that they like?

Can't see the attachment. 👀

Minesril · 21/01/2020 18:44

I think they're adorable.

TweetUsOnFacebook · 21/01/2020 18:45

If they are suitable for the purpose you are buying them for and fit properly then yes I think she should have input. When she goes to school she will have to wear more sober shoes. At 3 she won't have them very long before she grows out of them anyway.

northernlittledonkey · 21/01/2020 18:45

I can’t see them, but purple & sparkles aged 3, what’s not to love!

NerrSnerr · 21/01/2020 18:47

If they're fit for purpose you should buy them. Why does it matter if you or her dad don't like them, you won't be the ones wearing them.

FlashingFedora · 21/01/2020 18:47

Well mine is 11 now and I reluctantly bought him very expensive trainers for Christmas that I think are hideous and realised I'd turned into my mother, however at 3, no. I would have picked 2 or 3 pairs I thought suitable and let them choose from the selection to give them the feeling of having a choice Wink.

thistimelastweek · 21/01/2020 18:48

Just invest in a badge saying 'she chose her own shoes'.

mamamilkmachine · 21/01/2020 18:50

Second attempt Confused and thanks all. They are sensible shoes. I'm going to order them for her. To hell with what her dad thinks, I'm not asking him to wear them and if he doesn't want her to wear them when he takes her out he can argue it out with her Grin

I want to see the purple sparkly shoes!

I'm 47 and I'd love to be able to get away with purple glitter shoes. If there's any time in your life when you can get away with it, it's when you're 3! Let her have them, if they're suitable size and comfort wise, and won't damage her feet. She's got a whole lifetime of sensible boring black work shoes ahead of her.

hazell42 · 21/01/2020 18:51

Could be worse. I bought my daughter 2 horrendous pairs of sneakers for Christmas off the dolls kill website
I know they hurt her feet, but they cost so much she is pretending they are fine, and I am letting her (she's 19)

AwdBovril · 21/01/2020 18:53

Can't see them. I would tell her dad, don't like them? Don't wear them.

dappledsunshine · 21/01/2020 18:54

She sounds adorable- definitely buy them!

Sparkle2020 · 21/01/2020 18:56

Ahh I really want to see them but can’t :(

Faez · 21/01/2020 18:58

I can't see them either :(

Nonnymum · 21/01/2020 18:58

If they are good quality, fit her and practical then yes let her have them. What type of shoes does her father want her to have?

LettertoHermoine · 21/01/2020 18:58

Ahh get them for her, as long as she was behaving at home and causing no bother, she should have input in what she wears. Hope she wears them with pride :)

KurriKurri · 21/01/2020 18:59

If they are sensible comfortable shoes, why shouldn't she have an input.
She's entitled to have her own tastes in fashion just as he is. There's a difference between not sharing someone's taste and telling them it is wrong. He needs to encourage her to express her own ideas and to feel they are as valid as anyone else's (obviously within the boundaries of them not harming her feet and not being age innaproprite - like stilettos or something !)

I still can't see these shoes and I really want to - can someone link ?

Can't see them but I would say that as long as they fit well and are weather appropriate, let her choose the shoes she likes, after all it's her that's going to be wearing them.

littlehelpneeded · 21/01/2020 18:59

They aren't what we would chose but she LOVES them and you have a chance to make your little girl happy?

Why wouldn't you buy the shoes! Just pair them with super sweet outfits and then the shoes won't be so bad!

LadyLovelyLockz · 21/01/2020 19:00

I can see them. They are perfect for a 3 year old bless her, my dd would be all over these aged 6 tbh! She is only 3, it's not a fashion show. Buy them.

I want to see the shoes 😭

I can see them and I think they are adorable. If you can't wear purple sparkles at 3 when can you?
