To buy hideous shoes that DD loves

?My DD is three and loves purple and sparkles. While looking for new shoes together she spotted these and she really wants them. The last ones she had were pink sparkle converse and I was fine with them but her Dad hates them and complains and makes comments any time she has them on 😡 it really annoys me. I think she should allowed to have an input and wear things she likes but he thinks she's too young and she should wear what she's told. So do you buy your kids clothes that you like or clothes that they like?

If you can't wear pink sparkly shoes when you're 3, when can you? At that age if it's practical and weather appropriate, you're winning. She's going to spend years of her life in dreary school uniform - let her have some fun. Your DH is a killjoy.

She has decades to live on boring shoes. As long as they fit well and are supportive then go for it. There is no point trying to force style on a 3yo. My 4yo refused to wear all the naice jojomaman dresses I bought her in favour of sparkly synthetic frozen themed outfits from Primark. I've given up and just letting her enjoy life

They are cute shoes - she'll love wearing them.

Ooh yeah get them! They aren't hideous but even if they were, she loves them. This means she MIGHT put them on when asked. Bonus!

I took her shoe shopping when she was 10 months old for winter boots, she wanted the sparkling converse and I said no, we got home and she screamed blue murder when I tried to put her boots on 😂 she never got any use out of the boots and got the converse the following summer

DD was obsessed with lellyKellys when she was 4 bless her - we managed to find some and she actually wore them out lol

They are gorgeous she will be delighted with herself when she is wearing them. Get them and enjoy her enjoyment of them. My DD was exactly like that

They are cute. I was expecting something way more OTT and bling. I don't see why children shouldn't be able to pick clothes or shoes they like within reason. I am all for creativity and individuality before they end up in school uniform

They're cute, it would be different if she hated them and you were inflicting them on her, but no issue at all. Nothing wrong with sparkles!

Oh & I agree to letting them have a say. I let me 2yo choose her winter shoes & she chose BRIGHT YELLOW, her coat is also bright yellow... it’s quite a look.

@mamamilkmachine they are fantastic! I always let my daughter help pick her clothes and shoes, it’s good for their confidence to have an input on some decisions.
