To buy hideous shoes that DD loves

?My DD is three and loves purple and sparkles. While looking for new shoes together she spotted these and she really wants them. The last ones she had were pink sparkle converse and I was fine with them but her Dad hates them and complains and makes comments any time she has them on 😡 it really annoys me. I think she should allowed to have an input and wear things she likes but he thinks she's too young and she should wear what she's told. So do you buy your kids clothes that you like or clothes that they like?

Look up the Sparkle Club add children’s shoes just in case you get more than you bargained gor!

littlealexhorne · 21/01/2020 20:30

They're so cute! I'm glad you ordered them - I bet your DD will be over the moon

girlinleeds · 21/01/2020 20:32

Unless they are worst then the fish flops my 10 year old has I would say get her them (my husband bought her the fish flops as I refused)

CarolineIngalls · 21/01/2020 20:37

My 3-year daughter wears an Elsa dress everywhere she goes. It has tulle.

You are getting off easy.

VenusTiger · 21/01/2020 20:37

They’ll either be wrecked by mud or will only fit for a few weeks anyway, so her dad is arguing over nothing.
I don’t let my son choose his clothes as he’s not really interested lol - I wouldn’t make him wear something he didn’t like though.

Maxineputyourredshoeson · 21/01/2020 20:40

@JaniceBattersby I’ve always bought DD2 light coloured frilly clothes because that’s what she likes, whereas DD1 and me for that matter are much happier in jeans/jumpers etc. She does all of the things you describe and more, her clothes don’t seem to ruin any quicker than DD1s.

measureformeasure · 21/01/2020 20:40

I think they are lovely. If it were me I'd not only get them for her but look for similar ones to wear myself when DD's dad sees her in the lovely new shoes. Your DD has the right idea. Life is too short for boring shoes.

DesLynamsMoustache · 21/01/2020 20:42

I love them! saunters casually over to the Next website

FunnysInLaJardin · 21/01/2020 20:43

Meh, ignore DH. My DS2 aged 3 wore batman costumes everyday for nursery because he wanted to. DH was sniffy when he wanted to wear one for the class photo. I let him as tbh you are only 3 once and now when we look at that photo (he is now 10) we all have a smile.

Let her do what she wants, those shoes are super cute!

cakeandchampagne · 21/01/2020 20:45

Buy the sparkle shoes for your daughter.

Her dad needs a therapist.

Lindy2 · 21/01/2020 20:49

They are really cute shoes. Your DD will love wearing then.

I don't expect her dad has had much experience in things like the importance of having glittery purple shoes. In time I expect he will either learn to embrace glitter or he will learn to keep quiet about it.

rosydreams · 21/01/2020 21:03

my daughter is 8 i just bought her a lol dress i hate but she likes it lol

Sundancer77 · 21/01/2020 21:05

They are so cute 💜may get some for my 18 month old, her current favourites are navy Gazelles, so not too sure yet if she’ll be a girly girl or not 😂

PepePig · 21/01/2020 21:09

I'd tell her dad to fuck right off, tbh.

She can pick and wear what she wants. As long as they're decent quality, fit her properly and supportive, who gives a fuck?

Her dad is a sexist pig.

NarwhalsNarwhals · 21/01/2020 21:20

She's 3 and they are practical, sensible shoes, suitable for the weather, let her have the sparkles.

At 3 DS stropped if I put anything other than his red yellow and blue sandals on regardless of the weather and DD just hated all shoes.

winterchills · 21/01/2020 21:21

I love them, she should absolutely get a chance in what shoes she would like.

AgnesTheMartyr · 21/01/2020 21:29

They are frightful, OP.

However, my DD would have loved them at that age, and I bought similar for her. Why on Earth not?

If I hadn't bought them, Granny would have done. Grin

Talulahbeige · 21/01/2020 21:31

Completely normal for a 3 year old.
Tell your OH to shut up and stop now or he’s going to turn his child into a very unconfident young lady

AgnesTheMartyr · 21/01/2020 21:32

DD also had a Barbie Dancing Princesses dress at that age. It was unspeakably horrendous. She wore it everywhere. If, that is, she wasn't wearing her Cinderella or Belle dresses.

She is 16 now and I long for the days of sweetly ridiculous sparkly stuff.

Tombliwho · 21/01/2020 21:44

girlinleeds I just googled fish flops and cackled out loud. Husband looks confused and slightly scared. I want some immediately.

sam221 · 21/01/2020 22:05

Those shoes are adorable and as everyone else is saying, if can't wear sparkly shoe at 3-when else?!
The devil in me, would leave some glue and glitter in garden to jazz up a certain pair of black conversesGrin

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 21/01/2020 22:20

My 6yo would love them.
She has a range of shoes, mainly bought by her over indulgent grandmother. She dies wreck the sparkly ones though... If it's wet and muddy she wears her wellies or hiking boots.

School shoes are boring. Let them have the fun shoes while you can.

MintyMabel · 21/01/2020 22:22

If she likes them, buy them.

What gives DH the right to ridicule her for her choice of shoes? He needs to wind his neck in as he is sending her a hideous message.

gingerbiscuits · 21/01/2020 22:25

If you can't have pink/purple sparkly unicorn trainers when you're 3yrs old, then when can you?! Go for it!! 😍

MollysMummy2010 · 21/01/2020 22:25

They are not so bad! I have bought my daughter sparkly heels for her 10th on Friday - wouldn’t be my choice but they will make her so happy.
