Do you wear foundation everyday to work?

I recently started a grad scheme. This morning I realised I had run out of foundation. My reaction to the prospect of going into the office without it really surprised me.

Everyone my age wears make up.

I break out when I wear foundation, so it's a no from me. Just mascara and eyeliner here, occasionally lipstick if I'm feeling adventurous. I'm 28.

tinyme77 · 17/01/2020 23:13

I wear nothing and never met a man who admitted to giving a shit! But if it makes you happy go for it.

BeanTownNancy · 17/01/2020 23:17

Nope. Have worked for the last (almost) decade surrounded by academics and IT nerds (and I say that with love). They don't care if I'm wearing makeup as long as I am getting my job done.

Notajogger · 17/01/2020 23:18

Nah. Life is too short to worry about foundation I reckon. Tried it a couple of times as a teenager but finding the right colour and finding one which isn't noticable etc etc was too much faff.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 17/01/2020 23:19

I'm 34, I don't wear any foundation. A tiny bit of concealer under the eyes on a night out if i have dark circles..

I'm lucky tho, not blessed with many physical attributes (especially post kids...) but my skin is good.

blueshoes · 17/01/2020 23:22

I am 51 and have been working almost without a break since I was 23. I have always worn foundation to work and mostly when I go out.

At my age, without foundation, I will look like the undead.

ToastandCheese · 17/01/2020 23:24

To work yes. School run, no.

StoneofDestiny · 17/01/2020 23:42

Never worn foundation in my life. Only makeup I've ever worn is mascara - or just get eye lash tint.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 17/01/2020 23:52

Yes. It takes me ten minutes to do my face, and I like the routine in the morning. I never wear makeup at home though.

AreWeAnywhereNear · 18/01/2020 00:08

Mid 40s and I always wear make up to work, it's part of my 'I'm at work uniform'. To be fair it does only take me 5 minutes.

Then again I never do dress down days at work as I just seem to piss about & get nothing done.

I definitely the kind of person who needs work clothes, make up and hair.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 18/01/2020 00:13

Yes every day unless I'm I'll in bed. It's just part of getting dressed for ,like brushing my hair.

maddening · 18/01/2020 00:18

I stopped wearing it mid 20s, found t was a vicious circle as once I had messed up. My skin with it the more I needed it,. My complexion is. Much better now, I am 42 and appear to have aged well and can pass for younger without it

maddening · 18/01/2020 00:19

Ps. I have dabbled a couple of times since and hate the feel. Of it on my skin. Even. Tinted moisturiser pisses me off

CtrlU · 18/01/2020 00:19

I wear foundation to work everyday..then again I’m in the Aesthetic’s industry

blueshoes · 18/01/2020 00:22

How does foundation mess up the skin?

I have pretty good skin for my age and regularly wear foundation. My skin does not change even if I wear foundation. If anything, foundation protects my skin because of the layers of SPF moisturiser and foundation which block the uv rays and keep the skin moisturised.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 18/01/2020 00:33

No. I never wear any makeup to work. Ever.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 18/01/2020 00:33

Yes.I have decent skin for 39 but I like the even complexion that foundation gives me.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 18/01/2020 00:34

I also wear mascara , eyeliner and eyeshadow daily.

maddening · 18/01/2020 00:35

I found it clogs pores, apparently it interrupts skin renewal process, clogging if pores can enlarge them over time, if not cleaned properly can trap germs, the chemicals in make up on your skin etc etc

However this was my experience and the above is from advice from dermatologists of the Web, is your experience is different that is great too.

DramaAlpaca · 18/01/2020 00:49

I'm in my 50s, the only thing I put on my face is moisturiser which includes a sunscreen, and then only in summer. I'm quite sure that's the reason my skin is still good. I might wear makeup on a night out very occasionally but I hate the feel of it on my skin.

BackforGood · 18/01/2020 00:52

Do you wear foundation to work every day?

No - never worn foundation in my life
No - never worn make up to work

Everyone my age wears make up.

No they don't, you know.
At 23 you are my ds's age, a tad older than my dds, a tad younger than dns and dgodC, a tad older than other dn, round about the age of all their friends and many, many of my friends' dcs. I can absoutely tell you as fact that Everyone your age , does not wear make up.

WestCovina · 18/01/2020 00:59

I do, because my skin is gross and I feel embarrassed without it (20 years of acne with nothing working to fix it, needs must)

It takes me about 10 minutes and I look a million percent better with it on. I’m 30.

TheSmallAssassin · 18/01/2020 01:12

I'm nearly 50, I don't wear make up to work. I went through patches of wearing make up in my 20s and 30s, but I can't really be arsed. I look fine without.

One of the things I like about my work is that wearing no make up, or wearing it is unremarkable.

MrsMonkeyBear · 18/01/2020 05:04

Very very very rarely do I wear make up to work. But then again I'm not in an office and I'm very rarely seen by the public, unless I purposely go to reception.

I pop a wee bit of moisturizer on before I leave in the morning and that's me done.

Ritascornershop · 18/01/2020 05:18

No, I’ve never worn foundation. It is not very common where I live, maybe some young women who go clubbing? I’m middle-aged, have good skin, I have no need to wear it. I wear lipstick, a tiny bit of powder blush, that’s it.
