Do you wear foundation everyday to work?

I recently started a grad scheme. This morning I realised I had run out of foundation. My reaction to the prospect of going into the office without it really surprised me.

Everyone my age wears make up.

OP I'm only 2 years older than you, went through a grad scheme in London (still work at the same company), and don't wear makeup to work. Or in normal life really! Sometimes to weddings.

I don't like it and it does not affect my ability to do my work at all, so I see no reason why it would be part of a work routine. Most of the women at work do wear makeup, I'm definitely in the minority - but I just don't care. I don't care what they do either!

If you're comfortable wearing it and like it - go for it.

If you're worried about not feeling comfortable without it on - start not wearing it (ease in - if you always wear it, go to the supermarket without it. Or a friend's. Somewhere where nobody will really be looking at you anyway). Make-up is brilliant if you can choose when you do and don't want to wear it. It shouldn't feel like a necessity IMO!

I only wear foundation if I'm going out somewhere nice. Everyday is eyebrow pencil, mascara and neutral lipstick. Very occasionally some concealer under my eyes. I'm 25

TheFuzzyStar · 17/01/2020 18:02

No. I’m 32, never wear any make up unless I’m going out

MimiLaRue · 17/01/2020 18:03

No- just a tinted moisturiser.
I love the Perricone one

Dowser · 17/01/2020 18:05

Never leave home without it...even on holiday going to the beach..I still wear foundation
Habit now
Yes I do look better with it on

MaryShelley1818 · 17/01/2020 18:09

I'm 41 and don't even own foundation.

I've got good skin though and do look younger than I am (benefits of a fat face!)

JustGoodVibes · 17/01/2020 18:12

I’m 33, I don’t think I’ve left the house without makeup since I was about 14. I wish I could go without it but I’d look dead

wheniwonder · 17/01/2020 18:17

51 and never wear foundation

Emmelina · 17/01/2020 18:23

I do at 39, but only because I have some old acne scarring that makes my skin appear patchy and I feel self conscious without a little. Just enough to even out the tone.

hazeyjane · 17/01/2020 18:28
  1. Always wear make up, including foundation.
Movinghouseatlast · 17/01/2020 18:31

Gosh yes! I'm 53 and can't think of a work day when I haven't worn foundation.

In my 20's it was so I'd look nice so I could potentially cop off with my crush de jour.

Thereafter it was because it is part of looking smart to me.

Cath2907 · 17/01/2020 18:33

No, I’m 42 and have never worn make up routinely

notsohippychick · 17/01/2020 18:37

Ive drastically cut back on my make up. I used to wear a full face, but now I’m 43 I realised I look horrific with foundation on. So I look after my skin and just wear a hint of Bare Minerals. BUT I always wear mascara and blusher and do my eyebrows.

A much better look for me x

U2HasTheEdge · 17/01/2020 18:37

Yep, and my Hour Glass palette too.

I don't use loads of foundation though as it dries up my skin.

Metalhead · 17/01/2020 18:37

I do because I have rosacea and without it my skin tone is very red and uneven. I also do my eyebrows and wear mascara to work.

BankAngle · 17/01/2020 18:40

I'd like to because I look like shit but I don't have time.

TheTrollFairy · 17/01/2020 18:45

Yep. I wear full makeup - foundation, concealer, powder, bronzer, blusher, highlighter, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara and prow stuff finished with setting spray 🙈 takes me about 40 mins in the morning between watching YouTube or similar!

Menora · 17/01/2020 18:48

Yes. I wear concealer, IT cosmetic CC cream foundation with Estée Lauder double wear on the worst parts (not all over)

I have to see the public at work and I have melasma pigmentation and have suffered acne all my life. I don’t even go to the shops without it on. I am very quick at doing it and it’s just that, some Bobbi brown bronzer and some mascara and nothing else

Redyoyo · 17/01/2020 18:58

No make up to work I'm 40, i have no one to impress in the office, i couldn't give a monkeys what i look like at work.

Kelsoooo · 17/01/2020 19:01

Full face every day.

Primer
Foundation
Blusher
Bronzer
Highlighter
Eyeshadow X2 maybe 3
Eyebrow pomade
Mascara

I can shower, and dry my hair, get dressed and full face in 40 minutes

DiseasesOfTheSheep · 17/01/2020 19:05

I'm 33, I've never worn foundation in my life. I don't plan to, either.

WhenOneDoorClosesAnotherOpens · 17/01/2020 19:13

I never wear make up and I don't think I know anyone at work or in my private life who do either. We're a mix of ages from 30's to 75.

howrudeforme · 17/01/2020 19:19

Stopped wearing makeup c25 and before then wore v little - no foundation.

I’m in 50’s now. I personally think it’s ageing. I also don’t like the feel of it.

Spidey66 · 17/01/2020 19:30

Yes.

schoolsoutforever · 17/01/2020 23:05

I wear bb cream (which is just like a light foundation), blusher, eyeliner, mascara every day. I have since I was 16 (spots) and it’s just habit. Many of my younger colleagues don’t and I think they look great but I prefer me with (cos I look old).
