Do you wear foundation everyday to work?

I recently started a grad scheme. This morning I realised I had run out of foundation. My reaction to the prospect of going into the office without it really surprised me.

Everyone my age wears make up.

In my 50s, wear no make up for work.

madcatladyforever · 18/01/2020 09:42

I really do hate seeing young women with good skin wearing an obvious foundation mask though, it looks awful.
I always prefer to buy a really good brand and use it sparingly, touche eclat for example, a little goes a long way and it's worth the additional expense.
I passed a young woman in Asda yesterday wearing such thick foundation it looked like it had been trowelled on, her face was a completely different colour to the rest of her skin, she had great big false eyelashes, fake black eyebrows painted on and a trout pout, she was really pretty and had destroyed all of her natural beauty.
I put a lot of work into looking "natural". It isn't natural but you wouldn't know because I use good products.

Mammyloveswine · 18/01/2020 10:12

I wear a full face of make up every single day...

Foundation, concealer, highlighter, blush, bronzer, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara and red lipstick.. always red!

It sounds like a lot but it's not caked on at all.

Takes me 15 mins every morning.

UserThenLotsOfNumbers · 18/01/2020 10:22

Foundation doesn't work for me - seems to just make me look older and highlight the hairs on my face and show up my pores.
I do sometimes wear face powder to even things out a bit.
36.

@BackforGood

"Everyone your age , does not wear make up"

I was referring to the young female grads I work with.

Nope, never wear makeup to work.

Ashtower · 18/01/2020 10:28

I think for some of us applying our make up in the morning forms part of our self-care routine.

I find it a bit offensive that some posters assume everyone wearing make up looks terrible and/or has applied it badly. Objectively I know I look good with or without it. I just prefer to wear makeup to work.

I'm 49 and wear less and less foundation as it now seems to sit on my skin and exaggerate my pores and lines. I wear a tiny bit in the centre of my face every day, but blend it away to almost nothing. Concealing my dark circles is much more effective than a 'full face'.

Arrowfanatic · 18/01/2020 10:29

No, I wear a tinted BB cream as I get very dry skin so I like that it moisturises too.

I do bb cream, light powder, eyebrows, eyeshadow, mascara, blusher, a hint of highlighter. That's it. Takes me about 5 minutes.

Arrowfanatic · 18/01/2020 10:29

I'm 39

MsChatterbox · 18/01/2020 10:37

I would not leave the house without wearing makeup. Hubby says I look fine without it. I feel better with it.

BriefDisaster · 18/01/2020 10:43

I am 37 (with 6 years of broken sleep under my belt so bot the freshest looking) and would not go to work without makeup. Just some light foundation and mascara, and eyebrow pencil to fill in my patchy eyebrows. Maybe some lipgloss.

For days when Im just doing school run or out at the shops I don't wear any.

If I'm going somewhere nice (checks calander to see last time this was - ah four years ago!) I will put a full face on.

blackpinkinyourarea · 18/01/2020 10:53

Yep i wear a full face of makeup everyday, im 29.

yellowallpaper · 18/01/2020 11:06

No. It makes my skin feel itchy and clogged. I use a concealer under my eyes and on my nose, eye makeup and lipliner. Can't bear foundation all over me.

Scarlettpixie · 18/01/2020 11:17

I am 47 and am a lawyer. I rarely wear make up for work. If I have a meeting, I might wear a bit. I only apply full slap (including foundation) for Court.

Youngatheart00 · 18/01/2020 11:31

Yes, wear make up inc foundation for work every day. In the summer I usually switch to a BB style lighter cream but I do need something to even out my oily skin and cover some minor acne scarring.

At weekends, I like to be largely make up free unless I have somewhere special to go.

Oysterbabe · 18/01/2020 11:34

I'm a lawyer too and in our office I can think of only one woman who does a full face of makeup. Most people prefer a natural look.

raspberryk · 18/01/2020 11:39

Not under the age of 24/5 I didn't mainly as I could never match my skin tone. After 25 yes every day full make up work, uni, anywhere except the morning school run and dog walking.

DecomposingRat · 18/01/2020 12:11

There is no chance that I will suddenly find that I’ve run out of foundation one morning. I have loads of started and half used bottles, I don’t wear much other makeup. New Years resolution - to avoid makeup aisles.

Do you wear foundation everyday to work?
Jessie9323 · 18/01/2020 12:13

I'm 32 and I only wear make up once or twice a week at most. I work full time

jamburglar · 18/01/2020 12:24

Yes sadly. I'm 33. Although I have clear skin most of the time, I sadly have the double whammy of a massively oily t-zone, and cheeks which flush bright red very easily (if I'm hot, if I'm cross, if I'm very busy, etc) and I haven't yet found anything to help with that other than doublewear fiundation.

maddy68 · 18/01/2020 12:28

I wear full make-up every day , even if I'm not at work

DieSchottin93 · 18/01/2020 12:50

I'm in my 20s and I wear eyeliner and mascara and sometimes some eyeshadow to work and that's it. No matter how I prep my skin, my foundation always ends up looking patchy and dry Sad so I rarely bother with it. I'm also very pale so it's hard to find a shade that doesn't make me look orange.

ClientListQueen · 18/01/2020 12:53

@DieSchottin93 obviously you don't have to wear it but I can recommend CYO lifeproof, and also revolution conceal and hydrate (not the conceal define as that's better for oily skin)

fedup21 · 18/01/2020 12:56

I do-not loads though, just a bit! Plus eyeliner, mascara and lipstick. Takes 2-3 minutes.
